Role Overview

As a Software Engineer (Computer Vision), you will develop and optimize computer vision algorithms to process and interpret image data from various sensors, enhancing the autonomy and safety of our AI-powered aviation systems. You will work with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver robust vision-based systems capable of real-time performance in dynamic environments.

What You’ll Do

  • Computer Vision Development: Design, develop, and deploy computer vision algorithms that process image data from cameras and other sensors to enable autonomous decision-making in aviation applications.

  • Sensor Fusion: Collaborate with teams integrating data from multiple sensors (e.g., LiDAR, cameras) to improve the accuracy and reliability of visual perception in real-time environments.

  • Model Training & Optimization: Train, test, and optimize machine learning models for real-time image analysis, object detection, and scene understanding.

  • Performance Tuning: Ensure that computer vision models are efficient, scalable, and optimized for deployment on production systems.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with data scientists, software engineers, and product teams to ensure seamless integration of vision systems with broader AI models and aviation technologies.

  • R&D for New Features: Research and prototype new computer vision techniques, staying at the forefront of advancements in the field to continuously enhance the capabilities of our systems.

  • Quality Assurance: Implement testing strategies for vision-based models, ensuring robustness and reliability in real-world aviation applications.

What Will Make You Successful

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Master’s degree is a plus.

  • 3+ years of experience  in computer vision, image processing, or machine learning.

  • Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, C++, or similar.

  • Computer vision libraries like OpenCV, TensorFlow, or PyTorch.

  • Cloud platforms like AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to translate complex business requirements into scalable technical solutions.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.

Bonus Points

  • Passion for Aviation: A passion for advanced mobility and aviation.

  • Mobility Solutions: Experience with self-driving mobility solutions, drone autopilot, motion planning, or similar challenging robotics problems.

  • Machine Learning: Experience working on advanced machine learning problems.

  • Nvidia Devices: Experience working with the Nvidia family of devices or similar.

  • Embedded Systems: Experience working with embedded systems, sensors, and drivers.

This is a hybrid role and requires working from our San Carlos, CA office at least three days a week, with the option to work remotely the remaining days.
