$107,000 - $143,000 / year

Who is Tenable? Tenable® is the Exposure Management company. 44,000 organizations around the globe rely on Tenable to understand and reduce cyber risk. Our global employees support 65 percent of the Fortune 500, 45 percent of the Global 2000, and large government agencies. Come be part of our journey! What makes Tenable such a great place to work? Ask a member of our team and they’ll answer, “Our people!” We work together to build and innovate best-in-class cybersecurity solutions for our customers; all while creating a culture of belonging, respect, and excellence where we can be our best selves. When you’re part of our #OneTenable team, you can expect to partner with some of the most talented and passionate people in the industry, and have the support and resources you need to do work that truly matters. We deliver results that exceed expectations and we win together! Your Role: Tenable is seeking a Software Engineer to join our VM Platform team. Our team sits at the center of our Tenable One architecture; we ingest massive volumes of assets and find data from collection teams, process it to calculate the "state of the world" for our customers, and feed it to downstream search and reporting products. We are not just building web apps; we are solving a complex Big Data problem. You will build and maintain the high-throughput, event-driven pipelines responsible for processing the history of assets and vulnerabilities. You will move beyond simple CRUD operations to design systems that handle massive scale, ensuring that when we say an asset is vulnerable (or patched), that data is accurate and available in real-time. Your Opportunity: Build the Future of Exposure Management: We are currently developing the backend that powers Tenable’s flagship Exposure Management (EM) platform. You will be building the future that powers our EM platform. Solve Complex Data Problems : Work on "team-named data processing" challenges. You will design logic that collapses millions of incoming findings into a single, accurate state record. Architect for Scale: Transition our systems to a new architecture designed to be faster, cheaper, and more reliable. Your work will unblock integrations across the entire company. Own Your Stack (DevOps): We support our services in the wild. You won't just write code; you will use Terraform and Datadog to deploy, monitor, and ensure the health of your services in production. What You’ll Need: 2+ years of Backend Engineering experience with a focus on high-volume data processing or distributed systems. Strong JVM Proficiency: Deep experience with Java, Kotlin, or Scala is required. You should understand memory management and performance within the JVM ecosystem. Event-Driven Architecture: Proven experience with Apache Kafka (preferred) or RabbitMQ. You understand topics, partitions, and how to process streams of data asynchronously. Distributed Systems Knowledge: You understand the challenges of microservices, eventual consistency, and data resiliency. Stateful Processing Logic: Experience calculating "state" from a history of events. You understand how to take a stream of raw data and "collapse" it into a current status. DevOps Mindset: Hands-on experience with Terraform for infrastructure-as-code and observability tools like Datadog to monitor metrics and graphs. Database Experience: Proficiency with SQL and NoSQL data stores (PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, or similar) to store and retrieve state data. And Ideally: Experience with Event Sourcing or CQRS patterns. Background in migrating legacy services to modern architectures (e.g., Scala to Kotlin). While security background is a plus, we value Big Data/Data Pipeline experience first. If you can process data at scale, we can teach you the security domain. #LI-Hybrid #LI-LP1 This is the base pay range for this position. Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including the candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, location and experience, and may fall outside of the range shown. Employees are also eligible for variable compensation in addition to base pay (commission for sales roles, bonus for non-sales roles), depending on company and individual performance. Tenable also offers a variety of comprehensive and competitive benefits which include: medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance; 401(k) retirement savings with company match; an employee stock purchase plan; an employee referral program; flexible spending accounts; an Employee Assistance Program (EAP); education assistance; parental leave; paid time off (PTO); company-paid holidays; health and wellness events; and community programs. Sierra logo
SierraSan Francisco, California
About us At Sierra, we’re creating a platform to help businesses build better, more human customer experiences with AI. We are primarily an in-person company based in San Francisco, with growing offices in Atlanta, New York, London, France, Singapore, and Japan. We are guided by a set of values that are at the core of our actions and define our culture: Trust, Customer Obsession, Craftsmanship, Intensity, and Family. These values are the foundation of our work, and we are committed to upholding them in everything we do. Our co-founders are Bret Taylor and Clay Bavor . Bret currently serves as Board Chair of OpenAI. Previously, he was co-CEO of Salesforce (which had acquired the company he founded, Quip) and CTO of Facebook. Bret was also one of Google's earliest product managers and co-creator of Google Maps. Before founding Sierra, Clay spent 18 years at Google, where he most recently led Google Labs. Earlier, he started and led Google’s AR/VR effort, Project Starline, and Google Lens. Before that, Clay led the product and design teams for Google Workspace. What you'll do Build the Foundations of Trust. Design and ship systems that make Sierra’s platform secure by default — spanning privacy, identity, authentication, authorization, and data security. You’ll work across backend services, APIs, and infrastructure layers to embed security-conscious design into the core of our product. Own Cross-Cutting Systems. Partner with product and platform teams to implement and evolve Sierra’s trust primitives: identity management, access control, auditability, and data lifecycle management. You’ll make pragmatic design trade-offs between usability, performance, and security. Secure Agentic AI Systems. Build controls that ensure AI agents can't leak customer data, execute unauthorized actions, or be manipulated into unintended behavior. Design runtime policy enforcement for tool use, implement safe agent sandboxing, and create boundaries that protect data while keeping agents powerful and useful. Automate and Scale Security-Adjacent Workflows. Create developer-friendly tooling to reduce risk and friction — whether through automating security checks in CI/CD, enforcing privacy boundaries through schema validation, or instrumenting runtime monitoring for sensitive events. What you'll bring Strong Software Engineering Skills. Experience building and maintaining production systems in Python, Go, or TypeScript. You’re comfortable designing APIs, integrating with authentication or identity frameworks, and shipping high-quality code in a fast-paced environment. Security Mindset. You may not be a dedicated security engineer, but you think like one — considering how data flows, where it’s stored, who can access it, and how to design for least privilege and transparency. Product and Platform Mindset. You care about building secure systems that enable , not block, innovation. You work closely with product teams to make trade-offs clear and help them move quickly without sacrificing trust. Curiosity and Ownership. You’re the kind of engineer who goes deep — tracing how a token propagates through the stack, or how an LLM might interact with internal APIs — because you want to understand and strengthen the system. Even better if… You’ve worked on privacy , identity , trust & safety , auth/authz , or data protection systems. You’ve built security frameworks, libraries, or tooling that developers actually use or integrated security automation into CI/CD pipelines. You have exposure to AI systems or care about designing secure-by-default LLM applications . You think like an attacker — you naturally ask "what could go wrong?" when reviewing designs or while building systems. You've found or fixed real security issues in production systems. You thrive in 0→1 environments , where foundational systems have to balance speed, reliability, and trust. Our values Trust: We build trust with our customers with our accountability, empathy, quality, and responsiveness. We build trust in AI by making it more accessible, safe, and useful. We build trust with each other by showing up for each other professionally and personally, creating an environment that enables all of us to do our best work. Customer Obsession: We deeply understand our customers’ business goals and relentlessly focus on driving outcomes, not just technical milestones. Everyone at the company knows and spends time with our customers. When our customer is having an issue, we drop everything and fix it. Craftsmanship: We get the details right, from the words on the page to the system architecture. We have good taste. When we notice something isn’t right, we take the time to fix it. We are proud of the products we produce. We continuously self-reflect to continuously self-improve. Intensity: We know we don’t have the luxury of patience. We play to win. We care about our product being the best, and when it isn’t, we fix it. When we fail, we talk about it openly and without blame so we succeed the next time. Family: We know that balance and intensity are compatible, and we model it in our actions and processes. We are the best technology company for parents. We support and respect each other and celebrate each other’s personal and professional achievements. What we offer We want our benefits to reflect our values and offer the following to full-time employees: Flexible (Unlimited) Paid Time Off Medical, Dental, and Vision benefits for you and your family Life Insurance and Disability Benefits Retirement Plan (e.g., 401K, pension) with Sierra match Parental Leave Fertility and family building benefits through Carrot Lunch, as well as delicious snacks and coffee to keep you energized Discretionary Benefit Stipend giving people the ability to spend where it matters most Free alphorn lessons These benefits are further detailed in Sierra's policies and are subject to change at any time, consistent with the terms of any applicable compensation or benefits plans. Eligible full-time employees can participate in Sierra's equity plans subject to the terms of the applicable plans and policies. Be you, with us We're working to bring the transformative power of AI to every organization in the world. To do so, it is important to us that the diversity of our employees represents the diversity of our customers. We believe that our work and culture are better when we encourage, support, and respect different skills and experiences represented within our team. We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't precisely match the job description. We strive to evaluate all applicants consistently without regard to race, color, religion, gender, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, pregnancy, gender expression or identity, sexual orientation, citizenship, or any other legally protected class.

ColumnSan Francisco, California

$150,000 - $250,000 / year

About Column For companies building financial technology and transforming the financial services space, the biggest bottleneck to their growth and innovation is often the underlying banks and infrastructure stack they rely on. We have spent our careers founding and scaling companies like Plaid, Square, Meta, Blend, and Affirm, and have seen this problem firsthand — builders and developers needing to partner with traditional banks, and creating API and abstraction layers over the patchwork that is the bank, its core, and many other vendors. All of this results in a complex (and often expensive) banking supply chain involving a user, fintech, BaaS middleware provider, bank, core and the Federal Reserve. At Column, we set out to simplify and fix this. We are a bank and a software company built from the ground up, offering builders and developers technology-forward banking solutions that cut out the hundreds of vendors, middleware providers, and abstraction layers. This means a safer, more transparent, and less costly banking supply chain. Come build with us! The opportunity: Column is a developer-first bank, and this role sits at the heart of that mission. As a Product Engineer, you’ll be responsible for building interfaces, APIs, and backend systems that power how customers interact with our platform. You’ll write TypeScript and React for our dashboard, Go for our backend services, and report directly to our CEO and collaborate with our Head of design on product direction. This role isn’t layered with PMs (we don’t have any!) or long handoffs—you’ll own the full lifecycle of your work, from spec through deployment, including meeting with customers to understand how your projects perform in production. Our team is lean, high-trust, and execution-focused, and this role comes with real autonomy and visibility. If you're excited by technical depth, product intuition, and building critical infrastructure from first principles, you’ll thrive here. This role is San Francisco-based, and you’ll be expected to work out of our (awesome) Presidio-based office 3+ days a week . Read more about Life @ Column and our hiring process here . 🚀 What you’ll do: Build and maintain key user-facing and internal features across our dashboard and core systems Write clean, testable TypeScript and Golang code Design and document APIs, then own their implementation and reliability Collaborate with engineering, compliance, business, and customers to iterate on product functionality Influence product direction by bringing user feedback directly into design decisions Take full ownership of projects, from idea to launch What you’ll need to be successful: 5+ years of production software engineering experience Strong experience in TypeScript; React is a plus but not required Experience with a strongly typed backend language (Go, Rust, Java, etc.) and SQL Ability to work independently and drive product decisions end-to-end Willingness to engage directly with customers to gather feedback A high bar for quality, clarity, and performance in code What you’ll get from us: 🏥 Comprehensive health, dental, and vision plans, including options that are 100% covered by Column for you and 100% covered for your dependents! 🐣 Comprehensive family planning and fertility benefits via partnership with Carrot, including reimbursement of up to $20,000 in qualified expenses 🏡 Up to $2,000 (post-tax) monthly rent subsidy for employees living within 2 miles of Column’s office 💳 FSA and HSA account options to enable use of pre-tax money for medical and dependent care expenses 📈 401k plan, including self-directed brokerage options 🌴 Flexible time-off policy - take the time off that you want and need to relax and recharge 👶 100% paid parental leave, including 16 weeks for birth mothers, 12 weeks for primary caregivers, and 8 weeks for secondary caregivers 😇 Up to $4,500 in annual reimbursements for backup childcare 🍽️ Catered lunches and dinners for SF employees 🚆 Commuter benefits, including paid transportation to-and-from the office 🎉 Regular team building events, including annual offsite Pay transparency: Compensation packages at Column include base salary, equity, and benefits. New hire offers are made based on a candidate's experience, expertise, geographic location, and internal pay equity relative to peers. The annual US base salary range for this role is $150,000-$250,000 + equity. We look forward to hearing from you Column is committed to working with the best and brightest people from the broadest talent pool possible. We value bringing together a team with different perspectives, educational backgrounds, and life experiences, and believe a diversity of ideas is what allows us to develop the best solutions. All qualified individuals are encouraged to apply. If you need assistance or a reasonable accommodation during the application and recruiting process, please reach out to accommodations@column.com.
