Job Description
SUMMARY
We are seeking a visionary and strategic Director of Software Engineering to lead and scale our engineering teams. This role is ideal for a seasoned technology leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about building high-performing teams, delivering scalable software solutions, and driving innovation
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of software engineers across multiple projects and domains.
- Define and drive the technical vision, architecture, and roadmap in alignment with business goals.
- Develops, implements, and alters new and existing systems and processes that will aid in the overall functionality of the business
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Design, QA, and DevOps to ensure timely and high-quality delivery of software.
- Establish and enforce engineering best practices, coding standards, and agile methodologies.
- Manage resource allocation, project prioritization, and delivery timelines.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and accountability.
- Monitor and optimize system performance, scalability, and security.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends to inform strategic decisions.
- Develops internal working relationships across the business to drive growth, engagement, and results for our key managed service provider (MSP) partners
- Works across all companies: Fastaff, U.S. Nursing, Trustaff, and other brands as needed
- Effectively prioritize team efforts in a fast-paced environment with the objective of meeting company performance expectations
- Some travel required based upon business needs
- Performs additional duties as requested by management
REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE
- 8+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Documentation and Communication: Strong documentation skills and the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proficient in engaging with a diverse array of stakeholders, including those with technical and non-technical backgrounds.
- Successful managing engineering teams, including frontend and backend, across various levels from mid to senior; making strategic decisions, and delivering successful technical project outcomes.
- Strong problem-solving skills, adept at breaking down large projects into smaller, actionable tasks and ensuring their completion through team collaboration.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong emphasis on teamwork.
- Deep understanding of computer science and engineering fundamentals, such as databases, REST-ful APIs, web apps, mobile apps, authentication+ authorization, data structures, solution design, architecture, and design patterns.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in fast-paced environments.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively.
- Ability to maintain a calm and professional demeanor during high stress situations
- A disposition to function in a team environment and to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to use tact, discretion, and independent judgment to analyze and resolve work problems
- Displays a strong sense of urgency with the ability to self-motivate and remain flexible
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Ability to use sensory skills to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through use of the telephone, email, video conference and face to face contact
- Ability to use manual dexterity, visual acuity and hearing acuity to effectively use and operate office related equipment such as but not limited to a computer, copier, scanner, camera, phone, headset, keyboard and mouse
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time at a keyboard and workstation with low periods of reaching and standing
- Ability to lift up to 15 pounds at times

Compensation Range
$173,400.00 - $216,700.00
Benefits include: health, dental, vision, FSA/HSA, company-paid life insurance, 401K with discretionary match, paid time off, paid parental leave, and tuition reimbursement.
