Senior Software Engineer - DevOps | Platform-logo
UnifySan Francisco, California
About Unify: Unify was founded January 17th, 2023 by Austin Hughes and Connor Heggie. Prior to Unify, Austin led Ramp’s growth product team focused on new customer acquisition, and Connor was a machine learning research engineer at Scale AI . The rest of our team comes from companies like Airbnb , Spotify , Waymo, and LinkedIn . Our mission is to build the first system-of-action for go-to-market teams, starting with an end to end platform powering warm outbound. Today, outbound sales is dominated by cold, mass outreach that floods people's inboxes and converts to deals at a tiny rate. We’re building a platform to power warm outbound, allowing go-to-market teams to get in touch with the right people at the exact time they’re looking for a solution. We've grown revenue 8x year-over-year, and are already serving customers like Guru, Justworks, Together.AI , Flock Safety, Hightouch and more. We’re a high energy, high intensity team and we’ve raised $58M from Thrive, Emergence, OpenAI and others. Come join us in changing how go-to-market works. About the Role As our first DevOps Engineer hire, you’ll lay the foundation for how we build, ship, and scale software at Unify. This is a rare opportunity to define our DevOps / DevEx strategy from the ground up and shape the developer experience across the entire engineering organization. You’ll work directly with our CTO and co-founder, collaborating closely with product and engineering leads to design systems that are reliable, secure, and built for scale. You’ll own our infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, observability stack, and internal platform strategy—establishing the tooling and practices that allow our team to move fast with confidence. This is a hands-on, high-impact role for someone excited to build not just infrastructure, but a culture of operational excellence. What You’ll Do Design and implement tools, systems, and processes that accelerate engineering velocity, reduce manual toil, and improve code quality. Define and champion best practices in DevOps, infrastructure-as-code, observability, and cloud security across product engineering pods. Own and evolve our AWS infrastructure using Terraform, and lead container orchestration via Kubernetes and Docker. Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines in GitHub to streamline development workflows and shorten feedback loops. Develop internal tooling that enhances the developer experience—from fast local environments to robust testing infrastructure. Maintain scalable development and staging environments that support rapid iteration and high confidence releases. Who You Are You have 5+ years of engineering experience, with at least 2+ years focused on infrastructure, DevOps, or developer tooling. You thrive in fast-paced environments and bring clarity to ambiguity—creating structure where needed. You’re deeply curious and proactive in filling knowledge gaps, and you communicate what you learn with clarity and impact. You have strong experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and Terraform (or similar infrastructure-as-code tools). You’re an expert with Git and CI/CD tools, ideally GitHub Actions or similar frameworks. Tech We Use Our stack includes Terraform, AWS, Kubernetes, Helm, Elastic, Node, Turborepo, TypeScript, Prisma, PostgreSQL, Pulsar, ClickHouse, Temporal, and LLMs. Familiarity with any of these is a plus—but curiosity and adaptability matter more. About This Role This a salaried position with a target range of $180,000 - $225,000 (depending on experience), equity package and comprehensive benefits (including medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) options). This role is onsite in San Francisco or New York City , enabling fast feedback loops, deep collaboration, and stronger relationships. You’ll be at the heart of our most ambitious engineering efforts, helping set the pace and tone for Unify’s next chapter.

Job Description

About Unify:

Unify was founded January 17th, 2023 by Austin Hughes and Connor Heggie. Prior to Unify, Austin led Ramp’s growth product team focused on new customer acquisition, and Connor was a machine learning research engineer at Scale AI. The rest of our team comes from companies like Airbnb, Spotify, Waymo, and LinkedIn.

We've grown revenue 8x year-over-year, and are already serving customers like Guru, Justworks, Together.AI, Flock Safety, Hightouch and more. We’re a high energy, high intensity team and we’ve raised $58M from Thrive, Emergence, OpenAI and others. Come join us in changing how go-to-market works.

About the Role

As our first DevOps Engineer hire, you’ll lay the foundation for how we build, ship, and scale software at Unify.

What You’ll Do

  • Design and implement tools, systems, and processes that accelerate engineering velocity, reduce manual toil, and improve code quality.

  • Define and champion best practices in DevOps, infrastructure-as-code, observability, and cloud security across product engineering pods.

  • Own and evolve our AWS infrastructure using Terraform, and lead container orchestration via Kubernetes and Docker.

  • Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines in GitHub to streamline development workflows and shorten feedback loops.

  • Develop internal tooling that enhances the developer experience—from fast local environments to robust testing infrastructure.

  • Maintain scalable development and staging environments that support rapid iteration and high confidence releases.

Who You Are

  • You have 5+ years of engineering experience, with at least 2+ years focused on infrastructure, DevOps, or developer tooling.

  • You thrive in fast-paced environments and bring clarity to ambiguity—creating structure where needed.

  • You’re deeply curious and proactive in filling knowledge gaps, and you communicate what you learn with clarity and impact.

  • You have strong experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and Terraform (or similar infrastructure-as-code tools).

  • You’re an expert with Git and CI/CD tools, ideally GitHub Actions or similar frameworks.

Tech We Use

Our stack includes Terraform, AWS, Kubernetes, Helm, Elastic, Node, Turborepo, TypeScript, Prisma, PostgreSQL, Pulsar, ClickHouse, Temporal, and LLMs. Familiarity with any of these is a plus—but curiosity and adaptability matter more.

About This Role

This a salaried position with a target range of $180,000 - $225,000 (depending on experience), equity package and comprehensive benefits (including medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) options). This role is onsite in San Francisco or New York City, enabling fast feedback loops, deep collaboration, and stronger relationships. You’ll be at the heart of our most ambitious engineering efforts, helping set the pace and tone for Unify’s next chapter.
