We think most of the progress in the AI field has come from using more FLOPs to train and run models, and the best way to get more FLOPs is to build model-specific hardware. Larger and larger training runs encourage companies to consolidate around fewer model architectures, which creates a market for single-model ASICs. We are a fully in-person team in West San Jose, and greatly value engineering skills. We do not have boundaries between engineering and research, and we expect all of our technical staff to contribute to both as needed.

ProbookNew York City, New York
Probook is the AI dispatching software for the $700B home services space (think plumbers, electricians, HVAC technicians, etc.). Matching technicians to the right jobs can mean the difference between a $300 band-aid fix and a $20,000 system replacement, yet this process is currently manual and rarely data-driven. Probook changes that. We fully automate dispatching using AI, optimizing for outcomes that drive revenue and customer satisfaction. Since emerging from stealth, we’ve grown rapidly—bootstrapping to $4M in ARR within 9 months and operating cash-flow positive from day one. Our growth has been driven by obsessive customer focus and relentless execution. We’re an in-office team and our culture is shaped by three core values: 🦺 Blue Collar – For our engineers, this means being passionate about building software with real impact for people in the trades—real working-class Americans. It means eagerly jumping on customer calls to deeply understand their pain points and translate them into effective solutions. 💵 3-Month Runway Mentality – Engineers at Probook prioritize shipping speed and execution . We're thoughtful with design, but we focus on building what's most effective for our customers, not over-engineered solutions just because they're "cool. " We understand trade-offs and deliver value today. 🔧 Low Maintenance – This value for engineers means we're focused on execution , uphold a high engineering bar , and are accountable for deadlines , doing whatever it takes to deliver for our customers. We're on the same team, avoiding politics to deliver results. We grow by delivering real value. Every customer is onboarded in person, and our product spreads through word of mouth—not a GTM team. We’re a high-performance team, built for intensity and outcomes. Every member of Probook is an A-player—sharp, driven, and committed to excellence—with a track record of excelling in high stakes environments. As an engineer here, you'll work on products with direct and measurable impact on the company's growth . Every feature you build directly drives net new ARR , and our growth is a testament to building a product so good that our customers rave about us, fueling inbound interest and expansion. This isn't just a job; it's a proving ground for future founders . At Probook, you'll gain direct, hands-on experience in every aspect of building a hyper-growth company, from working intimately with customers to shape our product, to understanding the mechanics of our rapid revenue generation. We are world-class at product discovery and boast a stronger PMF than most series B/C companies . We know precisely what our customers want and what needs to be built in the next 3-6 months. For us, the risk isn't product or market; it's our own ability to execute and build a product so valuable that our customers can't live without us. This is a unique opportunity for a future founder to come in, own an entire product from 0 to 1 with high autonomy within a structured environment, learning exactly how we've figured out to build and scale at Probook. If you're looking for the real startup grind—the kind that demands everything and gives back even more—this is it. WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR Probook is seeking a highly driven founding backend product engineer to join our team. In this pivotal role, you'll work directly with our CTO, Lewis, to rapidly build and deploy the core AI use cases for our customers, shaping the technical foundation of our product from the ground up. While some frontend experience is a plus, your core strength and passion should lie in robust backend systems. You're someone who can: Ship new product features at an exceptional pace , with a strong bias for action. Demonstrate a passion for tackling hard technical and applied research problems . Quickly integrate into and master an existing codebase , becoming productive within the first two days. Exhibit an exceptionally high level of technical achievement (e.g., success in hackathons or coding/math competitions, having built something highly impressive, or experience as a past founder). We actively seek this during our interview process. Possess very strong coding fundamentals (e.g., capable of passing a quant dev interview) while also championing AI coding tools as a significant force multiplier. Have a strong product sense , understanding what customers truly need and how tobuild features that deliver value. You're deeply invested in the outcome. Architect well-designed systems that are robust and scalable, avoiding hacky, band-aid fixes. WHAT YOU'LL DO Collaborate closely with our CTO, Lewis, to rapidly prototype and build the initial set of AI use cases for our customers, primarily focusing on backend development. Be prepared to ship impactful features from day one . Projects that might span quarters at larger tech companies will be weekend sprints for you. Stay ahead of the curve, constantly integrating state-of-the-art frameworks and tools for building high-quality GenAI applications. YOUR BACKGROUND LOOKS SOMETHING LIKE THIS: 2-6 years of focused experience in backend product engineering. Preferably, this experience was gained at fast-growing, early-stage startups (ideally AI/ML startups) , or as a successful past founder/founding engineer with a proven track record in AI product development. Demonstrated experience working directly with customers and a history of shipping features quickly to meet user needs. WHO YOU ARE: A selfless teammate who consistently shows up for others, owns the hard stuff, and leads by example without needing the spotlight. Comfortable giving and receiving direct, constructive feedback without ego or defensiveness. Treats company resources like their own —budget-conscious and thoughtful with spending. You're internally driven to go the extra mile , not because anyone's watching, but because that's who you are. ZapierSan Francisco, California
AI at Zapier At Zapier , we build and use automation every day to make work more efficient, creative, and human. So if you’re using AI tools while applying here - that’s great! We just ask that you use them responsibly and transparently . Check out our guidance on How to Collaborate with AI During Zapier’s Hiring Process , including how to use AI tools like ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or others during our hiring process - and when not to. Hi there! Zapier is looking for a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer to join our Developer Impact team, part of the Zapier Internal Platforms zone. We’re on a mission to make everyone more productive through the power of automation, and that includes our own engineers. Zapier has helped millions of people build businesses through automation. Now, we’re focused on giving our developers equally powerful tools and processes so they can build the future of automation with velocity and confidence. About the Developer Impact Team The Developer Impact team boosts the effectiveness and velocity of Zapier’s engineering organization by improving developer workflows, tooling, and processes — with a strong focus on AI-powered developer experiences and cutting-edge productivity tooling. We’re not a traditional DevEx team. We take a hypothesis-driven, experimental approach, dogfooding lightweight solutions, measuring their impact, and rapidly iterating. We aim to eliminate friction across the software development lifecycle, partnering closely with other platform and product engineering teams to create a seamless, high-velocity developer impact. If you’re passionate about high-leverage, internal platform work and love experimenting with how AI and automation can transform how developers build software, you’ll thrive here. You’ll Love This Role If You get energy from improving how engineers work — not just what they build. You enjoy building high-leverage tools that multiply impact across dozens of teams. You’re passionate about using AI to push the boundaries of developer productivity. You thrive in a collaborative, experimentation-driven environment where learning fast matters as much as shipping fast. About You You're a Full-Stack builder: You have 6+ years of professional software development experience (including 2+ years in a senior or tech lead role) and experience with Python and Typescript. You’re strengths are in building resilient backend services and APIs as well as responsive, but you know how to build intuitive frontend interfaces using modern frameworks. You have a Developer Platform Mindset: You’ve built tools, frameworks, or infrastructure that other developers rely on daily. You think about developer workflows holistically — from local dev to CI/CD — and you design for scalability and maintainability. You're Savvy and using AI Developer Tools: You’re familiar with AI-assisted development. You’ve worked with AI pair programmers, code review bots, or ML-driven CI optimization. You’re eager to explore practical, measurable ways AI can improve engineering velocity. You're Experimentation & Impact Focused: You thrive in a fast-moving environment that values experimentation. You use data and feedback to validate ideas and iterate quickly. You see “failure” as a learning opportunity. You're Collaborative Builder: You work closely with engineers across platform and product engineering teams to identify pain points and co-create solutions. You treat engineers as your customers and focus on delivering tangible improvements to their experience. You Care About Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: You write great documentation, share best practices, and raise the bar for engineering excellence. You care as much about improving team workflows as you do about shipping code. You're a Strong Systems Thinker: You understand how decisions in CI/CD, testing, infrastructure, or local dev environments ripple through the broader engineering ecosystem. Things You’ll Do Build Internal Developer Tools & Platforms: Design, develop, and maintain internal products that improve developer productivity and flow. You’ll build across the stack — from command-line utilities and IDE extensions to web dashboards and APIs that streamline development workflows. Integrate AI into Developer Workflows: Build and integrate AI-powered experiences that augment how engineers build, test, and deploy software. Collaborate with Engineering Teams: Partner with engineers across the company to understand friction points in their workflows. Conduct interviews, shadow developers, and gather feedback to inform priorities. You’ll balance solving immediate pain with building scalable solutions. Create and Evolve Golden Paths: Help define and promote standard, high-velocity development patterns. Maintain service templates, example apps, and internal frameworks that guide engineers toward best practices. Enhance CI/CD and Developer Workflows: Partner with DevOps and Reliability teams to improve how code moves from laptop to production. You might optimize build caching, implement smarter test runners, or integrate automated quality checks into CI. Dogfood, Measure, and Iterate: Use the tools you build. Gather both quantitative metrics (e.g., build time, deploy frequency) and qualitative feedback to assess impact and guide iteration. Contribute to Developer Documentation: Maintain clear, discoverable guides for internal tools, frameworks, and best practices — ensuring engineers can quickly get up to speed and stay unblocked. Mentor and Influence: Lead by example through thoughtful code reviews, internal talks, and knowledge sharing. Help shape the technical direction of the team and contribute to its roadmap. How to Apply At Zapier, we believe that diverse perspectives and experiences make us better, which is why we have a non-standard application process designed to promote inclusion and equity. We're looking for the best fit for each of our roles, regardless of the type of companies in your background, so we encourage you to apply even if your skills and experiences don’t exactly match the job description. All we ask is that you answer a few in-depth questions in our application that would typically be asked at the start of an interview process. This helps speed things up by letting us get to know you and your skillset a bit better right out of the gate. Please be sure to answer each question; the resume and CV fields are optional. Education is not a requirement for our roles; however, if you receive an offer, you will need to include your most recent educational experience as part of our background check process. After you apply, you are going to hear back from us—even if we don’t see an immediate fit with our team. In fact, throughout the process, we strive to never go more than seven days without letting you know the status of your application. We know we’ll make mistakes from time to time, so if you ever have questions about where you stand or about the process, just ask your recruiter! Zapier is an equal-opportunity employer and we're excited to work with talented and empathetic people of all identities. Zapier does not discriminate based on someone's identity in any aspect of hiring or employment as required by law and in line with our commitment to Diversity, Inclusion, Belonging and Equity. Our code of conduct provides a beacon for the kind of company we strive to be, and we celebrate our differences because those differences are what allow us to make a product that serves a global user base. Zapier will consider all qualified applicants, including those with criminal histories, consistent with applicable laws. Zapier prioritizes the security of our customers' information and is dedicated to adhering to all applicable data privacy laws. You can review our privacy policy here . Zapier is committed to inclusion. As part of this commitment, Zapier welcomes applications from individuals with disabilities and will work to provide reasonable accommodations. If reasonable accommodations are needed to participate in the job application or interview process, please contact jobs@zapier.com . Application Deadline: The anticipated application window is 30 days from the date job is posted, unless the number of applicants requires it to close sooner or later, or if the position is filled. Even though we’re an all-remote company, we still need to be thoughtful about where we have Zapiens working. Check out this resource for a list of countries where we currently cannot have Zapiens permanently working.
