Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced HVAC/R Technician to join our team at MBL Facilities. This role is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and servicing HVAC/R equipment in all MBL buildings, ensuring the efficient operation of essential refrigeration and air conditioning systems, as well as providing technical oversight and support to other mechanics. Major Responsibilities: Maintain and repair refrigeration and air conditioning equipment, including associated electrical and mechanical controls. Service research support refrigeration equipment such as centrifuges, ice machines, and domestic refrigerators. Capture and store used refrigerants for future use, ensuring compliance with current standards and maintaining appropriate recovery licenses. Maintain accurate preventive maintenance records for MBL equipment, including data entry and service record management. Manage inventory of materials and supplies; order parts (compressors, motors, belts, refrigerants) as needed. Collaborate with other Plant Operations and Maintenance staff to address mechanical needs. Provide technical oversight and guidance to other mechanics regarding HVAC/R systems. Serve as Category I Essential Personnel during emergencies, including storm preparation, facility protection, and restoration of normal operations. Be available for on-call shifts and emergency work as needed. Perform other duties as assigned. Skills Required: Basic computer literacy for data entry and retrieval from established programs. Knowledge of Building Automation Systems (BAS), equipment controllers, thermostats, VFD drives, and other HVAC equipment. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment. Job Summary:We are seeking an experienced HVAC/R Technician to join our team at MBL Facilities. This role is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and servicing HVAC/R equipment in all MBL buildings, ensuring the efficient operation of essential refrigeration and air conditioning systems, as well as providing technical oversight and support to other mechanics.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and repair refrigeration and air conditioning equipment, including associated electrical and mechanical controls.
  • Service research support refrigeration equipment such as centrifuges, ice machines, and domestic refrigerators.
  • Capture and store used refrigerants for future use, ensuring compliance with current standards and maintaining appropriate recovery licenses.
  • Maintain accurate preventive maintenance records for MBL equipment, including data entry and service record management.
  • Manage inventory of materials and supplies; order parts (compressors, motors, belts, refrigerants) as needed.
  • Collaborate with other Plant Operations and Maintenance staff to address mechanical needs.
  • Provide technical oversight and guidance to other mechanics regarding HVAC/R systems.
  • Serve as Category I Essential Personnel during emergencies, including storm preparation, facility protection, and restoration of normal operations.
  • Be available for on-call shifts and emergency work as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills Required:

  • Basic computer literacy for data entry and retrieval from established programs.
  • Knowledge of Building Automation Systems (BAS), equipment controllers, thermostats, VFD drives, and other HVAC equipment.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment.
  • Strong team player with the ability to work independently when needed.
  • Strong technical reading and writing skills, including the ability to interpret technical manuals and write reports.

Education and Experience Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Valid Commonwealth of Massachusetts HVAC/R Technician or Contractor license required.

  • This position requires medium work (exerting up to 50 pounds occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly).
