· Perform installation of HVAC related equipment following company policies and manufacturer's specifications. · Carry out the wiring of both low and line voltage to cooling and heating equipment. · Perform installation of copper refrigerant lines to air conditioning units, including brazing and soldering. · Perform installation of flex and sheet metal duct systems in light commercial and residential buildings. · Ensure connection of gas lines to heating equipment is properly done. · Determine the right material needed for installation work by pre-measuring jobs. · Receive all materials and equipment required for each job, confirm, and load them into the company vehicle. · Provide necessary support to other team members to be able to complete tasks on time as instructed by management. · Create and maintain cordial and collaborative working relationships with both superiors and co-workers. · Ensure all paperwork needed for each job is accurately filled out. · Carry out readings on machines with the full understanding of the implication of such readings Ensure assigned company vehicle is kept clean. · Perform any other duty that may be directed by management. Requirements · Possess effective verbal and written communication skills. · Excellent problem-solving and customer service skills. · Must have an honest and dependable personality. · Strong mechanical aptitude. · Strong ability to distinguish between various HVAC equipment. · Self-motivated individual with strong ability to follow instructions and work alone, as well as work effectively within a team. · Ability to display professional company image. · Possession of valid driver’s license with good record of driving. · Strong ability to write and read in English language. · Ability to lift items weighing up to 100lbs safely. · Strong ability to operate under severe temperature conditions of 120 or more for long periods of time. · Ability to climb, stoop, balance, crouch, crawl, or/and kneel continually. · Ability to work on weekends, at night, and to work overtime. · Experience with ServiceTitan a plus, but not required. Experience & Education/Certification: · Possession of 1-3 years HVAC installation experience · Possession of High School Diploma or GED or equivalent. · EPA certification a plus. Benefits Competitive pay commensurate with experience and full benefits package including medical, vision and dental insurance, paid time off, and holidays. $18.00 to $30.00 an hour, plus bonus. Pay rate is based on experience.

HVAC Technicians on the NAS Patuxent River team come from all areas of the Tri County of Southern Maryland including California, Ridge, Hollywood, Mechanicsville, Leonardtown, Waldorf, Laplata, Lusby, Solomons. Specializing in commercial HVAC, the Technician performs maintenance, repair, replacement, and modernization of HVAC systems in order to achieve regulated climatic conditions. Position requires the Technician has extensive knowledge of HVAC principles and the ability to recognize and determine the most efficient method for diagnosing, testing and correcting malfunctions. The EMI HVAC Technician must be a Current Licensed Journeyman with anEPA Certification and has the skill level to make repairs on a variety of systems.

Salary

  • $43.21/hr.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work on various types of HVAC units:
    • split package, residential style, and up to light commercial, mini-splits, VAV’s and AHU
  • Use a multi-meter to check voltage lamp
  • Use a torch for brazing
  • Prepare work orders and cost materials estimates
  • May assist in training lower-level workers in mechanical repair techniques

Essential Skills

  • Work independently, a self-starter
  • Read schematic diagrams
  • Understand the Refrigeration cycle with the ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues and recommend repair strategies
  • PRACTICE WORKPLACE SAFETY in the use of tools, equipment, and supplies used in repair of HVAC equipment
    • Including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3+ years of experience in the maintenance, repair, installation, and operation of COMMERCIAL heating, ventilation, refrigeration and air conditioning systems.
  • Journeyman License
  • EPA Universal Refrigeration License
  • HVAC training or equivalent
  • Regular, dependable attendance required
  • OVERTIME- Available evenings & weekends
  • Valid driver’s license compliant with REAL ID Act or are you willing and able to obtain one
  • Pass a pre-employment drug screening
  • U.S. citizenship to obtain and maintain access to military installations

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift up to50lbs unassisted
  • Use of hands, reaching with hands and arms, talking, and walking
  • Prolonged periods of sitting, bending, squatting, standing, twisting, or stooping
  • Climbing ladders and entering confined spaces
  • Work both indoors and outdoors in various temperatures (some extreme) and weather conditions
