The incumbent will, on a rotating basis, be on call for one week and work a weekend shift. Incumbent is Considered Essential Personnel in a disaster. Brief supervisor of any problems that may affect proper operation of equipment. 10%-Coordinates repairs and inspections with Energy Management Operator for proper shutdown and startup of air conditioning systems throughout campus. 15%-Overhauls compressors, condensers and other equipment as needed. Diagnose and repair equipment problems pertaining to air conditioning, heating and refrigeration. Uses proper tools and electrical meter. 25%-Recharges air conditioning systems with refrigerants as necessary. Reset air conditioning and refrigeration system and check for proper operation after power failure. Adjusts and calibrates pneumatic and electronics controls. 35%-Installs, repairs, and inspects HVAC/Refrigeration equipment and associated systems. This includes work on chillers, cooling towers, DX units, window units, ice machines, hot/cold rooms, motors, controls, pumps, etc for various sizes and types of HVAC systems. When working on equipment, ensures there is no unauthorized gas release into the atmosphere. Make installations, tests, and repairs in accordance with E.P.A. and other applicable regulatory guidelines. Additional Job Description Minimum Requirements: A high school diploma and three years trade experience that is directly related to the area of employment. Some positions require a commercial driver's license. Some positions require EPA-approved freon recovery certification.
