The primary focus of a Herc Rentals Mechanic A is to utilize their mechanical expertise to lead fleet maintenance operations needed to keep Herc Rentals equipment on the rental "ready line". This goal can be achieved safely and professionally through an effective preventative and corrective maintenance program. What you will do... Develop and maintain a consistent schedule of performing preventative maintenance of all Herc owned fleet at your branch Operate and test equipment to ensure it passes Herc Rentals quality and efficiency standards Perform routine maintenance and repairs on all Herc fleet equipment and trucks independently Diagnose internal combustion engines, DC electrical systems, propane systems, hydraulics, and fuel systems Perform major repairs to maintain fleet equipment using diagnostic tools, hand tools, and measuring instruments independently Conduct oil changes, lubrication of equipment, tire replacements, hose repairs, battery replacements and assorted services Assist shop lead with customer damage estimates and repairs Enter and review work orders and complete part ordering via fleet management system Recondition and replace assorted parts of the heavy equipment Diagnoses problem areas for any significant wear or tear on the equipment Take service calls when shop lead is absent and dispatch Field Service Mechanic to ensure repairs are completed in a timely and efficient fashion Maintain work area in a clean and organized manner Produce timely and detailed service reports and repair log Assist in training "C" and "B" Mechanics while taking direction from the shop lead Follow all company's filed procedures and protocols Perform additional duties as assigned Requirements Ability to understand detailed technical schematics, owner manuals, and product warning labels Ownership of sufficient selection of hand and air/electric tools to complete most repairs and services Ability to operate and test equipment such as boom lifts, forklifts, compressors, portable and stationary generators, hydraulics, pumps and assorted tools and equipment H.S. In addition to providing ongoing base operations and Life Support Services, KBR will provide differentiated advisory and consultancy capabilities to the Iraqi Government with a focus on creating an effective program environment to support delivery of strategic economic planning, strategy development, feasibility studies, technical reviews and large-scale project management. Under this contract KBR will provide facility maintenance, procurement, critical supply functions, along with food services, base camp operations, renovations, construction, and medical services. Job Summary The HVAC Supervisor will serve the Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Plus task order in support of the U.S. Department of State (DOS). The HVAC Supervisor will take ownership of all site and related projects, to include the service and repair of environmental control systems using direct knowledge or refrigeration theory, pipefitting, structural layout and troubleshooting. This position will assume complete responsibility for installation and repair of all HVAC equipment-related operation and maintenance, preventative maintenance, repair and installation. The duties and responsibilities listed are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive. Please note: This position is located in Baghdad, Iraq and is contingent on award. Roles and Responsibilities Supervise a team of HVAC Technicians and ensure that all assigned HVAC systems are maintained. Maintain KBR's Zero Harm Initiative, ensuring a safe workplace and that safety is the highest priority. Responsible for maintaining a safe workplace and ensuring safety is the highest priority in the workplace. Comply with all Environmental & Safety and Quality Assurance requirements and goals. Operate, maintain and repair site HVAC systems including: air-cooled chillers, direct exchange units, air handling units, filters and chemical biological filters (if applicable), ductwork, dampers, actuators, fans, cold water lines, heating and cooling units, fan coil units, electric reheats, diffusers, vents, variable air volume (VAV) boxes, exhaust fans, supply fans, smoke exhaust fans, fresh air ducts, control valves, cooling coils and ventilation systems for laundry rooms, kitchens and rest rooms. Mount compressors, condenser units and air handling units, following blueprints, engineering specifications and manufacturer recommendations. Responsible for facility custodianship of work area and management of tools, equipment and spare parts for HVAC operations. Schedule personnel, including shifts and rotations, to maintain acceptable levels of service at all times. Assign tasks, establish/enforce standards of conduct and performance in the work environment. Inspect and audit work in progress and completed work to ensure work meets applicable codes, quality standards and customer satisfaction. Manage tools and inventory to ensure proper accountability and adequate supply levels to meet routine operational needs and reasonable surges and non-routine requests. Complete quantitative and qualitative reports. Provide verbal and written input on policies, plans and procedures, and other administrative tasks. Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned. Basic Qualifications Must have an Active U.S. Government Top Secret Security clearance and maintain it for the duration of your employment on this contract. Due to this, you must be a U.S. Citizen to be eligible for this position. A high school diploma or GED and vocational training in HVAC and Refrigeration Two (2) years' experience as a Master HVAC Technician; or Ten (10) years' experience as a Journeyman HVAC Technician; Meet any U.S. State licensing board requirements for a Master HVAC Technician license. HVAC vocational diploma or completed apprentice program with a Journeyman license or equivalent. Experience in OCONUS operations and maintenance projects in an international environment preferred. Section 608 Certification. Must have a valid Master HVAC Technician License or Certification or be able to obtain one within 180 days of employment. Must have knowledge of applicable U.S. codes, International Mechanical Code 2012 and acceptable trade practices. Must have good organizational skills with the ability to exercise sound judgment and make independent decisions. Knowledge of principles and processes involved in supporting contract responsibilities at an overseas facility is required. This includes boilers (steam and hot water), pumps, chillers (air and water cooled), cooling towers, heat exchangers (flat plate and tube in shell), hydronic air handling units, hydronic systems and accessories. HVAC Technicians perform tests and analysis of data to ensure the proper functioning of equipment and provide recommendations to customers as appropriate. Responsibilities: Monitor, evaluate, and troubleshoot condition of operating equipment and controls to ensure continued safe operation and life cycle performance. Perform routine repairs to pump seals, bearing, etc. Inspect and test systems to verify system compliance with plans and specifications or to detect and locate malfunctions. Determine customer concerns with their current applied HVAC systems. Comply with all applicable standards, policies, and procedures, including safety procedures and the maintenance of a clean work area. Discuss heating-cooling system malfunctions with customers to isolate problems or to verify that malfunctions have been corrected. Record and report all faults, deficiencies, and other unusual occurrences, as well as the time and materials expended on work orders. Test pipe or tubing joints or connections for leaks. Adjust system controls to setting recommended by manufacturer to balance system. Recommend, develop, or perform preventive or general maintenance procedures, such as cleaning, power-washing, or vacuuming equipment, lubricate parts, or changing filters. Install auxiliary components to heating-cooling equipment, such as expansion and discharge valves, air ducts, pipes, blowers, dampers, flues, and stokers, following blueprints. Assist with other work in coordination with repair and maintenance teams. Install, connect, and adjust thermostats, humidistats, and timers. Generate work orders that address deficiencies in need of correction. Connect pipes or tubing to equipment and to fuel, water, or refrigerant source, to form complete circuit. Assemble, position and mount heating or cooling equipment, following blueprints. Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent and 5 years of HVAC level operation, maintenance & repair experience in the HVAC and refrigeration trade. Knowledge of HVAC repairs, maintenance, and installation techniques, electrical circuits and wiring, operating principles of motors, and local electrical codes. Communicate effectively with internal team and customers. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Diagnose and resolve problems, follow written and verbal instructions, read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and written reference material, and perform math. Ability to use hand and power tools. Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and clean criminal background. Physical Demands Must be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment including electronic and diagnostic tools, recovery equipment, and various other HVAC equipment. Must be able to use body members to work, move or carry objects or materials. This position requires: stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, seeing, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently. Physical demand requirements are at levels of those of medium work. Work Environment This job operates primarily alone on HVAC and boiler equipment in all environments, which includes extreme cold or heat depending on the time of year. Job Purpose

As a Mechanic A, you are a master technician and will assume a leadership role in product knowledge and standards of quality within the branch. Mechanic A's have mastered the standard operating procedures at the branch, region, and national level and serve as a mentor to B and C level mechanics. The primary focus of a Herc Rentals Mechanic A is to utilize their mechanical expertise to lead fleet maintenance operations needed to keep Herc Rentals equipment on the rental "ready line". This goal can be achieved safely and professionally through an effective preventative and corrective maintenance program.

What you will do...

  • Develop and maintain a consistent schedule of performing preventative maintenance of all Herc owned fleet at your branch
  • Operate and test equipment to ensure it passes Herc Rentals quality and efficiency standards
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on all Herc fleet equipment and trucks independently
  • Diagnose internal combustion engines, DC electrical systems, propane systems, hydraulics, and fuel systems
  • Perform major repairs to maintain fleet equipment using diagnostic tools, hand tools, and measuring instruments independently
  • Conduct oil changes, lubrication of equipment, tire replacements, hose repairs, battery replacements and assorted services
  • Assist shop lead with customer damage estimates and repairs
  • Enter and review work orders and complete part ordering via fleet management system
  • Recondition and replace assorted parts of the heavy equipment
  • Diagnoses problem areas for any significant wear or tear on the equipment
  • Take service calls when shop lead is absent and dispatch Field Service Mechanic to ensure repairs are completed in a timely and efficient fashion
  • Maintain work area in a clean and organized manner
  • Produce timely and detailed service reports and repair log
  • Assist in training "C" and "B" Mechanics while taking direction from the shop lead
  • Follow all company's filed procedures and protocols
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Ability to understand detailed technical schematics, owner manuals, and product warning labels
  • Ownership of sufficient selection of hand and air/electric tools to complete most repairs and services
  • Ability to operate and test equipment such as boom lifts, forklifts, compressors, portable and stationary generators, hydraulics, pumps and assorted tools and equipment
  • H.S. Diploma or equivalent
