Summary: Primarily responsible for performing repairs and maintenance to a variety of equipment including refrigeration, air conditioning, electric motors, heating units, heat pumps, compressors, light commercial furnaces, boilers, burners, intake and exhaust fans, economizers, and humidifiers. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: Check in with office for scheduled jobs after the completion of each job and at the end of each workday. During and or at the end of each task fully complete all company provided forms possible. Responsible for time management of jobs scheduled each day. Check in with client at the beginning and end of each task to make sure they are aware of everything going on throughout the entire visit. Obtain client signature on company provided forms where applicable. Upon completion of each task record time spent at each job on the weekly time sheet. Hand in paperwork, checks, or cash at the end of each week for processing. Ensure all vendor packing slips or invoices for each job are handed into the Warehouse Coordinator. Ensure all materials used for each task are listed properly on the company provided forms. Answer all office pages/calls in a timely manner. Check in as needed to ensure office dispatcher and/or field supervisor are aware of your status. Secure parts and tools needed throughout the day for various jobs as required. Call in repairs to the estimator or field supervisor and provide the necessary info needed to quote the repair and fill out the appropriate quote forms as required. Consult field supervisor or dispatcher in times of uncertainty. Ability to communicate with customers in a clear, confident manner throughout the entire service so that they are aware what is going on inside their home/business. Ability to adjust your communications to provide the best customer experience possible. Ability to create detailed job notes in the customer’s account for future reference. Ability to both teach and learn by sharing thoughts/experiences with your coworkers in meetings and in one-to-one interaction. Willingness to try new ideas and recommend process improvements to your manager with the objective of improving efficiency/effectiveness. The ability to maintain a clean and organized workspace both in a customer’s property and your company vehicle. The ability to work safely and the motivation to help ensure that those you work with are working in a safe manner. Requirements Qualifications: Candidate must have a minimum of 3 years of experience. Understands basic refrigeration cycle to include identifying components in refrigeration circuit, understanding how each component works, diagnosing problems in the refrigeration circuit, using manifold gauge set, pressure/temperature chart and temperature measuring devices for routine maintenance and to troubleshoot. Understands refrigeration recovery, evacuation, and charging. Understands basic electron theory, how electricity travels, AC and DC currents, single phase and three phase circuits, and series and parallel circuits. Ability to read basic wiring diagrams. Understanding of Ohms Law. Ability to use multi-meters to read voltage, current and resistance values. Must be able to troubleshoot basic electrical circuits. Understands the process of treating air to simultaneously control its temperature, humidity, and distribution. Must be able to read and understand mechanical drawings. Understands basic heating cycle to include identifying components in heating system, understanding how each component works, diagnosing problems in the heating system using a gas pressure test and other devices for routine maintenance and to troubleshoot. Understands the theory of combustion and how it relates to combustible fuels such as gas and oil. General Summary Installs, services and repairs environmental-control systems; utilizing knowledge of refrigeration theory, pipefitting and structural layout. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Mounts compressor and condenser units on platform or floor, using hand tools, following blueprints or engineering specifications. Fabricates, assembles and installs ductwork and chassis parts, using portable metalworking tools and welding equipment. Installs evaporator unit in chassis or in air-duct system, using hand tools. Cuts and bends tubing to correct length and shape, using cutting and bending equipment and tools. Cuts and threads pipe, using machine-threading or hand-threading equipment. Joins tubing or pipes to various refrigerating units by means of sleeves, couplings or unions, and solders joints, using torch, forming complete circuit for refrigerant. Installs expansion and discharge valves in circuit. Connects motors, compressors, temperature controls, humidity controls and circulating ventilation fans to control panels and connects control panels to power source. Installs air and water filters in completed installation. Injects small amount of refrigerant into compressor to test systems and add Freon gas to build up prescribed operating pressure. Observes pressure and vacuum gauges and adjusts controls to insure proper operation. Tests joints and connections for gas leaks, using gauges or soap and water solution. Wraps pipes in insulation batting and secures them in place with cement or wire bands. Replaces defective breaker controls, thermostats, switches, fuses and electrical wiring to repair installed units, using electrician’s hand tools and test equipment. May install, repair and service air conditioners, ranging from fifteen to twenty tons cooling capacity, in warehouses and small factory buildings. Other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Experience and Skill Requirements Proof of Legal Residency and proof of US citizenship Minimum of three (3) years’ experience Ability to perform most complex and unusual tasks of the craft without supervision. Must be able to read and understand blueprints, construction drawings, schematics and diagrams as they pertain to the craft. Ability to perform work of the craft in a rapid and efficient manner under extreme conditions. Must be able to perform work safely under hazardous conditions. Able to troubleshoot and repair most complex problems. Expert knowledge of craft theory and craft materials with the ability to apply the theory and select the proper materials. Trained in all types and sizes of air conditioning refrigeration and evaporative cooling equipment. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) certification to purchase and handle ozone depleting chemical as outlined in federal and state regulations. Steam boiler knowledge is a must for this position. Working Conditions Must be able to lift 50 lbs., squat, bend, stoop and kneel for short periods, climb a ladder, stand for long periods of time, constant arm extensions. Occasional exposure to elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, chemicals, but none to the point of being disagreeable. Major Responsibilities:

  • Performs facility and equipment maintenance in accordance with applicable codes and standards. Documents through use of the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).  
  • Conducts preventive maintenance tasks and repairs on basic facility systems such as plumbing, medical gas, fire alarm, HVAC and electrical systems. 
  • Manage response and repairs associated with emergencies such as leaks, floods, water outages, fires, power outages, equipment failures, etc.  
  • Reads blueprints, Life Safety drawings and maintenance manuals to gain knowledge needed to complete assignments. 

Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:

  • Valid Driver’s License

Education Required:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent

Experience Required:

  • Less than 2 Years Experience in equipment maintenance

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • Works within clearly defined standard operating procedures.  
  • Basic computer skills in using systems such as CMMS, building automation system, Microsoft Office. 
  • Good communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to work with minimal oversight with basic technical skills in facility maintenance.   

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Works required shifts and participates in on-call duty to provide 24/7 coverage. 
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, crawl, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently throughout the workday. 
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs. from floor to overhead, lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to chest-level, lift and carry up to 50 lbs. at waist height a reasonable distance. 
  • Must be able to push/pull with 50 lbs. of force. 
  • Exposure to electrical and mechanical hazards and therefore knowledge of safety precautions. 
  • Position requires travel.  May be exposed to road/weather hazards. 
  • Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job. 

Preferred Job Requirements:

  • Trade/Tech School Certificate
  • Trade/Tech School Trades Certificate or trades or industry recognized certification/license requiring Continuing Education or periodic renewal to maintain. 
  • Preferred: 1+ Years of Experience in relatable industrial/trades maintenance or operations.
