The Service Technician is responsible for performing detailed startup and service on millions of dollars of HVAC equipment being installed into the market on a yearly basis. Equipment such as Air Handlers, Chillers, Boilers, Pumps, Refrigerant Split Systems, VRF, VFD’s, Heat Pumps, Fans, Cooling Towers, Packaged Rooftop Units, DOAS, UV, Controls and more. You will work hand in hand with our Service Manager, fellow lead technicians, the manufacturer, and our local product experts. As our face to the customer in the field, you will often be the last person on the project. In this role, you are responsible for making sure the equipment is operating correctly and that we are handing over a quality final product to the customer, with the intent to keep and develop long-term customer relationships. This position will require travel throughout the states of Montana and Wyoming. An outfitted company service truck will be provided. Factory training will be provided, with the expectation you will be the local certified technician for the manufacturers represented by S Conley Sales. Top Responsibilities: Coordinate with Support Manager, and customer to precisely understand requirements for all on-site installation and repairs by extensively examining building layouts, equipment IOM’s, forecasting issues, gathering materials, and synchronizing on-site work. Business Acumen including electronically filing startup paperwork, thorough job summary documentation, utilization of electronic scheduling and job tracking software, and QuickBooks timecard and invoice generation. Representation of the company by serving as a direct customer contact, responsible for ensuring customer satisfaction by identifying, analyzing, diagnosing, and repairing systems at customer's location in a timely and professional manner. Independently manage daily business needs by identifying parts to order for repairs and determining the required urgency of the request. Utilizing existing company resources, including an on-staff parts and warehouse manager, to return equipment to service in a timely and efficient manner. Factory Training and Certification, as identified by management. This list includes both current and future manufacturers represented by S Conley Sales, Inc. Equipment will include, but is not limited to: Air Handlers, Chillers, Boilers, Pumps, Refrigerant Split Systems, VRF, VFD’s, Heat Pumps, Fans, Cooling Towers, Packaged Rooftop Units, DOAS, UV, Controls. Competencies Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships across all levels of the organization. Ability to solve practical problems and manage a variety of variables in situations and with problems where only limited information or standardization exists Ability to work in a fast-paced environment Must be a self-starter, independent, and have strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines at any given time Education / Experience 3+ years in HVAC service, with an aptitude to understand mechanical HVAC systems and controls. Excellent customer service skills a must: Troubleshooting, teamworking, good communication skills, and Facility relationship building. Valid driver’s license and clean driving record. Drug screening and background check. Strong self-directed work ethic and motivation to learn the newest technologies in the industry. This includes maintaining and repairing heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVAC/R) systems and equipment. • Identifying maintenance risks on HVAC/R equipment. • Diagnosing electrical and mechanical faults for HVAC/R systems. • Completing commissioning checks of HVAC Units to ensure continued, efficient operation. This includes checking and correcting of HVAC RTU controller configurations in addition to the mechanical operation of the units. • Providing physical maintenance to Budderfly HVAC Units. Job Title: HVAC Service Technician Department: Service FLSA Status: Hourly Reports to: Service Supervisor, Service Manager, VP of Service Coordinates With: Service Group Salary: Commensurate with experience + Benefits JOB SUMMARY: MSI seeks an HVAC Service Technician to perform maintenance and repair work, as directed, and to process necessary paperwork promptly, accurately, and completely. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Safely operate company vehicle. Initiate and maintain positive customer relationships with all existing customers and potential new customers. Maintain a standard inventory of parts and tools on vehicle for use in the performance of work. Maintain an adequate supply of service invoices for recording performance of service work and parts used or sold. Maintain service vehicles in good, safe operating condition, attending to normal servicing and reporting to Manager if and when major repairs or reconditioning are deemed necessary. Attend promptly to service calls dispatched through Service Administrators. Perform service, maintenance and repair work efficiently. Complete the documentation of the service call on a service Invoice as per company policy. Return all required paperwork to the Service Group at designated times and assist office personnel with any questions they may have regarding it. Maintain an accurate record of time spent on customer jobs, as well as any non-billable time. Immediately call Service Administrators after service call completed for further dispatch information. QUALIFICATIONS: Demonstrate high mechanical aptitude. Good written and verbal communications skills. Knowledge of good customer service techniques. Congenial personality and a helpful attitude. Physical activities of standing, balancing, climbing stairs & ladders, walking and lifting of weights of 50 lbs. or more are required in daily performance of job. Use of upper extremities required for forward and overhead reaching, pushing and pulling, and material handling. Use of torso and lower extremities required for kneeling, crawling, stooping, twisting, and squatting. Enrolled in or have completed HVAC Apprenticeship Program. High School Diploma or equivalent. 4 years of experience as a Service Technician desired. The Service Technician is responsible for performing detailed startup and service on millions of dollars of HVAC equipment being installed into the market on a yearly basis. Equipment such as Air Handlers, Chillers, Boilers, Pumps, Refrigerant Split Systems, VRF, VFD’s, Heat Pumps, Fans, Cooling Towers, Packaged Rooftop Units, DOAS, UV, Controls and more. You will work hand in hand with our Service Manager, fellow lead technicians, the manufacturer, and our local product experts. As our face to the customer in the field, you will often be the last person on the project. In this role, you are responsible for making sure the equipment is operating correctly and that we are handing over a quality final product to the customer, with the intent to keep and develop long-term customer relationships. This position will require travel throughout the states of Montana and Wyoming. An outfitted company service truck will be provided.

Factory training will be provided, with the expectation you will be the local certified technician for the manufacturers represented by S Conley Sales. Top Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with Support Manager, and customer to precisely understand requirements for all on-site installation and repairs by extensively examining building layouts, equipment IOM’s, forecasting issues, gathering materials, and synchronizing on-site work.
  • Business Acumen including electronically filing startup paperwork, thorough job summary documentation, utilization of electronic scheduling and job tracking software, and QuickBooks timecard and invoice generation.
  • Representation of the company by serving as a direct customer contact, responsible for ensuring customer satisfaction by identifying, analyzing, diagnosing, and repairing systems at customer's location in a timely and professional manner.
  • Independently manage daily business needs by identifying parts to order for repairs and determining the required urgency of the request. Utilizing existing company resources, including an on-staff parts and warehouse manager, to return equipment to service in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Factory Training and Certification, as identified by management. This list includes both current and future manufacturers represented by S Conley Sales, Inc. Equipment will include, but is not limited to: Air Handlers, Chillers, Boilers, Pumps, Refrigerant Split Systems, VRF, VFD’s, Heat Pumps, Fans, Cooling Towers, Packaged Rooftop Units, DOAS, UV, Controls.

Education / Experience

  • 3+ years in HVAC service, with an aptitude to understand mechanical HVAC systems and controls.
  • Excellent customer service skills a must: Troubleshooting, teamworking, good communication skills, and Facility relationship building.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Drug screening and background check.
  • Strong self-directed work ethic and motivation to learn the newest technologies in the industry.
  • Advanced skill level performing Electrical inspections, startups, repairs and service contract maintenance
  • Ability to work in diverse conditions including but not limited to mechanical equipment rooms with exposure to noisy operating equipment, exposure to extreme weather conditions, risk of electrical shock (high voltage), climbing/working at elevated heights, etc.
  • Operating knowledge of Microsoft office software and working proficiency with hand held computer (i.e. Smartphone, iPad)
