Bedrock Ocean ExplorationBrooklyn, New York
About Bedrock Bedrock is operationalizing the largest Earth-exploration mission in human history. We’re doing that by developing robotics & software to explore, map, and classify the entirety of Earth's ocean floor. The oceans are a critical component of climate stabilization. Our hope is to provide critical subsea data and infrastructure to further understand and predict the fundamental forces that support harmonious human existence on this planet. About You and The Role The ocean covers over 70% of our planet—we need the sea to survive—but despite its importance we know little about it: over 80% of the ocean has never been mapped; moreover, it’s believed that less than 5% has been mapped at least at a 100m resolution. The truth is that humans know much more about the surfaces of the Moon and Mars than our own ocean floor. We at Bedrock think that needs to change. Quickly. To tackle this mission, we’re using autonomous submarines (AUV's) and our novel cloud platform to drive understanding of the ocean. We are scaling quickly, but tend to focus on a limited number of roles at any given time to ensure we hire well . So if this sounds like you and you want to be in our system for early consideration, please apply for the (hopefully near) future. We're a small, but quickly growing community of individuals bonded by our drive to do good in this world. We love what we do and want to work alongside others whose hearts are in it too. There is an urgent need to map the whole ocean, and we believe that Bedrock has a moral obligation to get this done the right way . Read more about how we feel about only hiring good people here , and about Bedrock as a Public Benefit Corporation here and here . What sort of talent are we looking to find & meet? Software engineers (cloud & vehicle) Roboticist's Controls experts from the drone or AV spaces Autonomy software experts Oceanographers Geophysicists Experienced Executives Hardware Engineers and Technicians (Mechanical, Electrical, Test) Software Test Engineers Multi-beam sonar data experts Subsea experts EOD & Navy Seal operators Survey ship and data operators Long-term capital sources + partners Experienced cloud software product managers, designers, UI/UX Talent Acquisition or Technical Sourcing experts People who live for exploring solutions for ocean protection, climate change, and protecting our world. We're looking for the folks who have an intrinsic, unshakable need to shake things up on behalf of humanity. Explore the last true frontier left on Earth with us We’re seeking ultra-determined people who aren’t afraid to pioneer new solutions and challenge conventional assumptions. Most of all, we're looking for high-quality, good human beings with low egos. Bedrock is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Bedrock determines employment on the basis of merit, competence and qualifications and will not be influenced in any manner by race, color, religion, gender, national origin/ethnicity, veteran status, disability status, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, mental or physical disability or any other status by either the law or common sense. If you need any reasonable accommodations in the process, please let us know how we can support you.

Job Description

About Bedrock

Bedrock is operationalizing the largest Earth-exploration mission in human history.

About You and The Role

The ocean covers over 70% of our planet—we need the sea to survive—but despite its importance we know little about it: over 80% of the ocean has never been mapped; moreover, it’s believed that less than 5% has been mapped at least at a 100m resolution.

We are scaling quickly, but tend to focus on a limited number of roles at any given time to ensure we hire well. So if this sounds like you and you want to be in our system for early consideration, please apply for the (hopefully near) future.

We're a small, but quickly growing community of individuals bonded by our drive to do good in this world. We love what we do and want to work alongside others whose hearts are in it too.

There is an urgent need to map the whole ocean, and we believe that Bedrock has a moral obligation to get this done the right way. Read more about how we feel about only hiring good people here, and about Bedrock as a Public Benefit Corporation here and here.

Explore the last true frontier left on Earth with us

We’re seeking ultra-determined people who aren’t afraid to pioneer new solutions and challenge conventional assumptions. Most of all, we're looking for high-quality, good human beings with low egos.
