ABOUT THE ROLE:

As our first Principal Solutions Engineer at Talon. One, you will be leading enterprise-level API integrations. This newly created role focuses exclusively on delivering these complex integrations, which often span over a year due to their complexity. You will lead the charge on these initiatives, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams while acting as a trusted advisor to ensure customer success. While you won't have direct reports, you'll be in a unique position to mentor and share your expertise with the US & EMEA Technical Account Management (TAM) team, shaping both technical and project management best practices. This is a rare opportunity to make a significant impact, allowing you the freedom to define the role while driving excellence in integrations.

This is a remote role; however, you must be located within commuting distance of one of our hubs: New York, Denver, or Boston.

This role also requires occasional travel, estimated at 10%-20% of the time.

ONCE YOU ARE HERE YOU WILL:

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to enterprise customers, offering tailored solutions and long-term architectural strategies
  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of large-scale API integrations, ensuring alignment with customer goals, platform capabilities, and industry best practices
  • Collaborate with implementation partners and system integrators (SIs) to ensure solution architectures are technically sound and in the customer’s best interest
  • Drive project planning for enterprise-level integrations, including scope definition, resource allocation, timeline management, and stakeholder coordination
  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and optimize API integrations, ensuring performance, scalability, and long-term maintainability post-launch, using tools like Postman, Swagger, and API gateways
  • Evaluate integration outcomes and partner performance, delivering actionable insights for internal teams and future engagement strategies
  • Mentor Technical Account Managers on API architecture, integration tooling, and project execution, enhancing team-wide technical depth

WHAT WE NEED YOU TO BRING TO THE TABLE:

  • 5+ years in a technical consulting, solutions architecture, or developer/contractor role, ideally with direct experience integrating API-driven SaaS platforms for enterprise clients
  • Familiarity with API technologies and tools such as REST, SOAP, OAuth, JSON/XML, Postman, Swagger (OpenAPI), and middleware platforms like Workato, Mulesoft, or Zapier
  • Proven ability to lead complex technical projects, managing multiple stakeholders, risks, and deliverables in a structured, detail-oriented way
  • Strong architectural understanding of modern cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and scalable SaaS systems
  • Experience with Commerce Stacks, Consumer Data Platforms, and Consumer Engagement Platforms is a big plus
  • Experience in Retail, CPG, Travel, Telco, or Delivery Services is beneficial
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical topics clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • A collaborative, mentor-first mindset, with a passion for growing team capability and improving processes based on real-world integration challenges
  • Experience in writing or reviewing integration code in languages such as Python, JavaScript (Node.js), or Java to support and debug integrations

WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU:
  • $1,200 annual learning budget and full LinkedIn Learning access
  • Manage your own time off with our flexible PTO policy
  • $350 home office setup budget, a $50 monthly home office allowance
  • Freedom to work from abroad for up to 90 days worldwide!
  • WeWork On-Demand access for flexible workspace solutions
  • Mental health support with nilo.health
  • Choose from top-tier Medical, Dental, and Vision plans (Blue Cross Blue Shield MA, MetLife, VSP)
  • Build your savings with our 401(k) plan, including a 100% company match on your contributions up to 4%
  • We provide 100% company-paid Life Insurance, Short-Term, and Long-Term Disability coverage

The total compensation for this role is $160,000 - $215,000, though actual compensation may vary depending on factors such as relevant experience, skills, qualifications, certifications, and location. The salary range is subject to change and may be adjusted at any time.

WHY YOU SHOULD WORK FOR US:
