About the Role We're looking for a Research Scientist to lead work on post-training data curation for foundation models. You'll design and implement algorithms to generate and improve instruction, preference, and other post-training datasets. You'll also help bridge the gap between pre-training and post-training by exploring how to jointly optimize data across stages. This role requires strong scientific judgment, fluency with the deep learning literature, and a drive to turn research ideas into real-world impact. You'll work autonomously, collaborate closely with engineers and product teams, and shape the future of data curation at DatologyAI. What You'll Work On Post-training data curation. You'll conduct research on how to algorithmically curate post-training data-e.g., how to generate and refine preference and instruction-following data, how to curate capability- and domain-specific data, and make post-training more effective, controllable, and generalizable. Unifying pre-training and post-training data curation. Pushing the bounds on model capabilities requires unifying post-training and pre-training data curation. You will pursue research on end-to-end data curation: how to curate pre-training data to improve the post-trainability of models and how to jointly optimize pre- and post-training data curation, all in service of maximizing the final performance of post-trained models. Transform messy literature into practical improvements. The research literature is vast, rife with ambiguity, and constantly evolving. You will use your skills as a scientist to source, vet, implement, and improve promising ideas from the literature and of your own creation. Conduct science driven by real-world needs. Engineering a world of possibilities The Colorado School of Mines, Civil and Environmental Engineering department, is hiring for a full-time Post-Doctoral Fellow position to help support the research efforts focusing on developing construction materials from mine tailings. The applicant's responsibilities will include conducting both laboratory and field investigations focused on developing construction materials from mine tailings. Following the identification of three tailing sites, the applicant will oversee sample collection, followed by comprehensive physical, chemical, and mineralogical characterization of the materials. This detailed characterization will serve as the foundation for a systematic evaluation of reuse options. The project will explore four primary reuse pathways for sulfidic mine tailings: (1) use as aggregates in concrete, (2) incorporation as raw material in clinker production, (3) utilization as a supplementary cementitious material in concrete, and (4) application as a precursor in alkali-activated materials. The applicant will actively contribute to the evaluation of these options in collaboration with other team members. Additional duties include assisting in the preparation of project reports, scholarly publications, and research proposals. The role also involves close collaboration with research partners in Peru, and the applicant may be required to travel to Peru and conduct on-site work to support key project activities. The Sengupta lab studies the effect of circadian rhythms in protecting against lung injury from viral infections, using animal models, cell culture and organoid systems. The circadian focus on lung biology and immunology provides several unique and exciting research opportunities for scientific inquiry. Overall, the distinct areas of investigation for the Grant and the Sengupta labs allows the ideal candidate to acquire and develop different but important skillsets, providing unique professional and scientific opportunities.
