This department provides specialized care to patients during the post-procedural experience. POSITION OVERVIEW: The RN provides quality patient and family centered care as a member of the health care team in accordance with SCHS mission, philosophy, policies, and procedures. Applies standards for professional nursing practice and focuses clinical care to enhance the experience for patients, families, and all others. As a nurse, this position will oversee the work of other caregivers, providing specific care to assigned patient(s) throughout the shift, as required under the scope of the RN licensure. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES: Maintains and demonstrates an in-depth knowledge of nursing principles, practices, standards, and techniques and applies this knowledge in accordance with St. Charles Health System policies and procedures and within laws and regulations governing nursing practice in the State of Oregon. Assesses the patient's condition and needs using critical thinking and clinical judgment; sets outcomes; implements appropriate nursing actions and collaborates with other disciplines to meet the patient's/family's physical, emotional, spiritual, social, and intellectual needs; and evaluates patient's progress. Calculates dosages and administers medications accurately in accordance with St. Charles Health System policies and procedures for medication administration. Documents all patient care with proficiency in compliance with hospital policies, procedures and regulatory agencies. Demonstrates awareness of and supports St. Charles departmental and operating unit goals through participation in continuous quality improvement and departmental activities. Participates in activities that promote professional growth and development of self and others. Communicates (both written and orally) effectively and maintains professional relationships with caregivers, medical staff, patients, and guests. Identifies work-related problems with possible solutions and implements solution(s) within scope of practice, as appropriate. This is a part-time (0.8) position working M-F between the hours of 5:30 am- 6:00 pm out of our Two Twelve Surgery Center. Twin Cities Orthopedics is an operating division of Infinite Health Collaborative (i-Health), a group of local medical practices, owned and led by its physicians, on a mission to give patients more control over their healthcare. Essential Functions: Assesses physical, psychological, spiritual, cultural, educational, and developmental dimensions of the patient from pre-op phone call through the patient discharge and provides written documentation of these findings. Evaluates and documents patient condition and responses to nursing and/or medical interventions and communicates the information appropriately. Responsible for completing pre-operative phone calls, H&P (History and Physical) reviews, and providing appropriate admission requirements/instructions. Assesses patient needs and supplies and equipment required for pain management procedure, patient needs, and physician preferences. Responsible for completing post-operative phone calls, providing care and direction as appropriate. Develops and provides an individualized plan of care based on nursing assessment, medical diagnosis, knowledge of specific illnesses, injuries, diseases, surgical procedures and appropriate standards of care. EDUCATION:

Required: As required by RN licensure.

Preferred: BSN

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION:

Required: Current Oregon RN license. AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider certification. ACLS. PALS.

Preferred: Department specific acute care certification. (i.e. CNOR, CAPA, CPAN)

EXPERIENCE:

POST ANESTHESIA CARE UNIT (CRITICAL CARE EXPERIENCE REQUIRED):

Required: One (1) year recent experience in a procedural care area recovering patients or Critical Care setting, such as ICU, Step Down, or ER.

Preferred: Two (2) years of recent PACU experience in a Level 2 Trauma Center with ICU level recovery.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:

Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required to perform the job safely.

Frequently (50%): Sitting, lifting/carrying/pushing or pulling 1-25 pounds. The use and operation of a motor vehicle for Home Health and Wound Caregivers.

Occasionally (25%): Bending, stooping/kneeling/crouching, climbing ladder/stepstool (varies by area), reaching overhead, lifting/carrying/pushing or pulling 25-50 pounds, grasping/squeezing, ability to hear whispered speech level.

Rarely (10%): Climbing stairs.

Never (0%): Climbing ladder/stepstool (varies by area), operation of a motor vehicle.
