Responsible for the facilitation and coordination of services provided to patients on the acute/regional pain management service. Include quality monitoring and implementation of strategies to enhance patient experience, patient safety, and program growth.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
Current Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which services will be provided or current multi-state Registered Nurse license through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.
EXPERIENCE:
- Two (2) years of nursing experience in critical care or perioperative care
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
Certification in area of specialty.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
EXPERIENCE:
Five (5) years of nursing experience in critical care or perioperative care.
Previous experience in management and program/staff development.

Collaborates with physicians, nursing staff, and other health care providers to ensure comprehensive, coordinated patient care to promote improved acute pain management.
Works with physicians and nurses to facilitate block procedures. Assists physicians with block procedures and setup.
Ensures availability of necessary equipment and supplies.
Archives nerve block ultrasonography images.
Aids physicians in coordination of services, provides continuity of care to regional anesthesia service patients. Responds to calls for regional anesthesia/perioperative patients.
Conducts proactive assessments of analgesia and its side effects.
Employs complementary techniques for pain relief
Serves as primary contact for regional anesthesia/acute pain service. Conducts quality monitoring and implements strategies to enhance patient experience, patient safety, and program growth
Collaborates with physicians, nursing staff, and other health care providers to ensure comprehensive, coordinated patient and family education. Promotes excellence in practice related to pain by role-modeling advanced skills and providing instruction and expertise in dealing with complex problems.
Attends regional anesthesia service rounds and assists with patient care
Aids physicians in coordination of services, provides continuity of care to regional anesthesia/acute pain patients
Provides daily rounds to assess patient care
Designs and implements educational programs for the department of nursing and patient education related to regional anesthesia
Conducts proactive assessments of regional analgesia and its side effects. Adjusts pain therapy or treatment of side effects according to treatment algorithm and reassess interventions
Provides consultation to the interdisciplinary team regarding management of the acute pain patient population
Assists Regional anesthesia director in development of goals, policies, protocols, and standards
Proactive in maintaining current knowledge in theory and practice in acute pain management
Orients/mentors interdisciplinary health care team members regarding care management of acute pain
Maintains program standards, policies, and procedures in collaboration with interdisciplinary team
Participates in house-wide Pain Committee and other Committees as assigned. Reports outcomes of acute pain management with regional blocks to Pain Committee.
Determines appropriate methods to measure, analyze and interpret data to ensure that expected outcomes are achieved
Performs data collection and analysis to monitor and improve patient outcomes with the acute pain population receiving blocks
Establishes and implements action plan based on data analysis and interpretation. Other duties as assigned.
Leads or participates in Performance Improvement projects as appropriate
Identifies strategies to enhance perianesthesia patient and provider satisfaction
