The Opportunity We are seeking a dedicated I ntermediate level Protective Security Officer to provide armed workforce security and safety by responding to and resolving issues pertaining to access control, accident and emergency response, medical response, workplace violence, active shooter events and other security issues. Under direct supervision, uses established procedures and guidelines to perform routine to moderately complex tasks and problem resolution. Performs all duties in alignment with USAA’s Security Officer Standards. We offer a work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 5 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following location: Charlotte, NC. Relocation assistance is not available for this position. What you'll do: Understands and applies policies and procedures displaying basic knowledge on operational matters. Responds to critical incidents and takes direction on immediate actions to stop acts of violence, render first aid, and resolve issues during the response phase of Incident Management. Participates in training drills, receives feedback on response, and participates in after action reviews for emergency response situations. Monitors alarms, cameras, fire alarm systems, and access control programs along with radio traffic, dispatching officers, coordinating response actions for critical incidents and documenting activities for escalation to incident reports. Controls access for employees and visitors, creates and issues credentials, and responds to policy violations. Performs patrols of facilities/properties to prevent trespassing, theft, vandalism, parking/traffic infractions and unauthorized conduct impacting the safety of the campus. Enforces parking and traffic controls and composes incident reports. Completes duty assignments and on-the-job duty position training. Conducts post-related activities during special events and supports executive protection or law enforcement during incident response. Documents shift activities, and ensures detailed information is passed on to team members. Attends and completes all training sessions and responds to feedback from security management and the training team. Completes Defensive Tactics and Handgun training and Standards Evaluation, complies with USAA Force Continuum, issue/turn-in, storage/transportation procedures and maintains State handgun licensing. Maintains current first aid training. Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures. What you have: High School Diploma, General Equivalency Diploma, or applicable trade/technical school diploma. 1 or more years of physical security, law enforcement, or military combat arms experience. Ability to operate computer programs for access control, camera systems, alarm annunciation, radio dispatch and general use of Microsoft Office tools to include Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Must possess valid state driver's license. Job Offer contingent on passing the MMPI evaluation. Initial and continued employment conditional upon passing USAA’s Protective Security training standards within 3 attempts (for initial and follow-on training cycles) and obtaining required state armed security license and/or certification for assigned post state within 6 months. ABOUT THE ROLE We are seeking a highly experienced and expert Industrial Security Subject Matter Expert (SME) to manage and oversee all aspects of the National Industrial Security Program (NISP) across the entire US Space Force classified enterprise. This strategic role ensures the command's compliance with the NISPOM (32 CFR Part 117), manages the flow-down of security requirements via classified contracts, and serves as the primary liaison with the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA). The SME will be the authoritative resource on Facility Clearance (FCL) management, Insider Threat Program oversight, and classified material accountability, driving security excellence across all government and contractor programs within the USSF domain. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. NISP Compliance and DCSA Liaison Primary DCSA Liaison: Serve as the primary liaison with the DCSA and other government security organizations on all matters related to the facility clearance, compliance, and official security assessments. FCL Management: Oversee the status and maintenance of the command’s Facility Clearance (FCL), ensuring continuous adherence to all requirements set forth in the NISPOM (32 CFR Part 117). Self-Inspection Program: Manage and execute a continuous, robust, enterprise-wide security self-inspection program to proactively identify vulnerabilities and ensure compliance with the NISPOM and program-specific security guides. Audit Readiness: Lead and successfully prepare for all DCSA Security Assessments/Inspections, managing the entire process from pre-inspection readiness to deficiency remediation and closure. 2. Classified Contracts and Subcontractor Management DD-254 Lifecycle Management: Expertly manage the full lifecycle of classified contracts by overseeing the review, receipt, processing, and distribution of the DD Form 254 (Contract Security Classification Specification). Security Flow-Down: Ensure the accurate and compliant flow-down of security requirements to all subcontractors, vendors, and partners, maintaining oversight of their security compliance and clearance status via the NISS (National Industrial Security System). Contract Register: Maintain a comprehensive and auditable register of all classified contracts and associated DD-254s, ensuring accurate tracking of security requirements and performance obligations. 3. Insider Threat Program (ITP) and Policy ITP Oversight: Provide expert oversight and direction for the Insider Threat Program (ITP) across the USSF enterprise, ensuring all personnel are properly trained and that reporting and compliance procedures meet all mandated requirements. Policy Development: Lead the development, update, and maintenance of the command's Standard Practice Procedures (SPP) and all related Industrial Security policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Material Control: Oversee the proper accountability, control, transmittal, and destruction of classified material, ensuring compliance with all material control regulations. 4. Security Education, Training, and Awareness (SETA) SETA Program Management: Develop, manage, and deliver comprehensive Security Education, Training, and Awareness (SETA) programs specific to Industrial Security requirements. Mandatory Briefings: Conduct all mandatory training and briefings, including new employee indoctrinations, annual refreshers, derivative classification, foreign travel/contact reporting, and security debriefings. Culture and Compliance: Promote a proactive security culture across the organization, ensuring all employees understand their security responsibilities and reporting requirements under the NISP and related directives. THE SKILLSET: Experience: Minimum 10 years of dedicated professional experience in Industrial Security as an FSO, AFSO, CPSO, or Security Specialist within the U.S. Defense Industrial Base or Intelligence Community. Clearance: Must possess and maintain an Active Top Secret (TS) / Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) eligibility security clearance. U.S. Citizenship is required. Regulatory Expertise: Expert-level, practical knowledge of the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM), codified as 32 CFR Part 117. Auditing & Systems: Proven experience as a primary company liaison for DCSA Security Assessments/Inspections and managing the internal self-inspection program. Expert proficiency with government security databases, including NISS and DISS/NBIS. The Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated Intermediate level Protective Security Officer to provide armed workforce security and safety by responding to and resolving issues pertaining to access control, accident and emergency response, medical response, workplace violence, active shooter events and other security issues.  Under direct supervision, uses established procedures and guidelines to perform routine to moderately complex tasks and problem resolution. Performs all duties in alignment with USAA’s Security Officer Standards.

We offer a work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 5 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following location: Charlotte, NC. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

What you'll do:

  • Understands and applies policies and procedures displaying basic knowledge on operational matters.
  • Responds to critical incidents and takes direction on immediate actions to stop acts of violence, render first aid, and resolve issues during the response phase of Incident Management.
  • Participates in training drills, receives  feedback on response, and participates in after action reviews for emergency response situations.
  • Monitors alarms, cameras, fire alarm systems, and access control programs along with radio traffic, dispatching officers, coordinating response actions for critical incidents and documenting activities for escalation to incident reports.
  • Controls access for employees and visitors,  creates and issues credentials, and responds to policy violations.
  • Performs patrols of facilities/properties to prevent trespassing, theft, vandalism, parking/traffic infractions and unauthorized conduct impacting the safety of the campus.
  • Enforces parking and traffic controls and composes incident reports.
  • Completes duty assignments and on-the-job duty position training.
  • Conducts post-related activities during special events and supports executive protection or law enforcement during incident response.
  • Documents shift activities, and ensures detailed information is passed on to team members.
  • Attends and completes all training sessions and responds to feedback from security management and the training team.
  • Completes Defensive Tactics and Handgun training and Standards Evaluation, complies with USAA Force Continuum, issue/turn-in, storage/transportation procedures and maintains State handgun licensing.
  • Maintains current first aid training.
  • Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.

What you have:

  • High School Diploma, General Equivalency Diploma, or applicable trade/technical school diploma. 
  • 1 or more years of physical security, law enforcement, or military combat arms experience.
  • Ability to operate computer programs for access control, camera systems, alarm annunciation, radio dispatch and general use of  Microsoft Office tools to include Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Must possess valid state driver's license.
  • Job Offer contingent on passing the MMPI evaluation.
  • Initial and continued employment conditional upon passing USAA’s Protective Security training standards within 3 attempts (for initial and follow-on training cycles) and obtaining required state armed security license and/or certification for assigned post state within 6 months.

What sets you apart:

  • Ability to work 10 or 12 hour shifts: nights, weekends and holidays. Occasional overtime may be required.

  • Experience responding to emergency incidents.

  • Ability to respond rapidly and efficiently during emergency situations.

  • Prior experience using security related systems. Report management system, two-way radios, visitor management systems.

  • Demonstrated firearm proficiency.

  • Possess current Private Protective Services Armed Guard License.

Compensation range: The salary range for this position is: $ 43,680.00 - $65,750.00.

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location.
