Overview
Job Description
The role:
The Assistant Director – Identity, Access, and Data Security is a senior leader responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, and ongoing effectiveness of the organization’s identity, access, and data security capabilities.
This position works collaboratively with existing security leadership, IT teams, a virtual Chief Information Security Officer (vCISO), and Internal Audit to ensure security controls are well coordinated, operating effectively, and aligned with recognized security frameworks. The role focuses on practical security execution, platform integration, and continuous improvement rather than enterprise compliance ownership.
The Assistant Director provides leadership across identity and access management, data access protection, and supporting security platforms, while contributing to policy standards, control validation, and security assessment activities relevant to their area of responsibility.
Role Characteristics:
Senior individual contributor and people‑leader (matrixed leadership)
Highly collaborative, cross‑functional role
Hands‑on, execution‑focused security leadership
On‑site position requiring regular in‑person collaboration
What you will do:
Leadership and oversight of identity, access, and data security functions
Collaboration with security leadership, IT teams, Internal Audit and external partners
Coordination and support of security assessments and control validation activities
Contribution to security standards and operational controls
Support for audit and assessment activities through accurate documentation and evidence
Participation in cross‑training and leadership collaboration to ensure operational continuity
What you need to succeed:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in lieu of degree.
8+ years of experience in information security, IAM, or security engineering.
Demonstrated hands-on experience with IAM / IGA platforms, PAM / PIM solutions, Netskope, Rapid7 and ServiceNow.
Strong understanding of Identity-based threats, privilege escalation paths, data access governance and zero Trust architecture principles.
Strong collaboration, communication, and leadership skills.
Experience partnering with senior security leaders and auditors.
A practical, builder-oriented mindset — someone who enjoys designing controls and ensuring they work in real environments.
Strong collaboration, communication, and leadership skills.
An ability, interest and desire to stay current via seminars, industry literature, and formal training and development.
An ability to work on-site Tuesday – Thursday at the 2000 Market Street office in Philadelphia.
