Position Summary: The Design/Product Engineer will design and develop new products as well as maintain and improve current products from a design standpoint based on customer feedback and sales requirements. Perform engineering design, analysis and calculations at the Senior Engineer level as needed. Oversee the development of tender packages including drawings, specifications and cost estimates. Conduct technical analyses and documentation review following TYLin's quality assurance and quality control processes. Supervise, mentor and develop staff. Assist with providing input for annual planning and quarterly forecasting. Participate in project performance reviews and risk reviews. Other duties as needed. Business Development: Actively track opportunities and manage business development activities at the regional level. Actively pursue opportunities for partnerships with other planning and engineering firms. Participate in and lead the preparation of proposals in the region. Work with others to develop and maintain a regional list of pursuits. Promote the TYLin brand and build relationships with key clients and industry organizations to pursue opportunities. Develop and maintain client and industry relationships, promote technical practices, innovation, sharing and knowledge management. Assist with preparation of inputs to monthly/quarterly/annual forecasts at the Sector level. Assist in collaboration across TYLin on bridge pursuits as needed. Be the Client Account Manager for on designated clients. QUALIFICATIONS (INCLUDING EDUCATION and/or JOB EXPERIENCE): Master's Degree in Structural Engineering with emphasis in bridge design is preferred. P.Eng. license is required. A minimum of 8 years of project management and bridge design experience is required, with a minimum of 8-10 years on local projects. Experience in successful management and delivery of bridge projects is essential. Demonstrated excellence with leading teams to deliver bridge projects. Excellent knowledge of the IDOT Highway Bridge Design Code, and relevant codes and practices. Relationships with local engineering clients is required. Strong oral and written communication skills. As part of that commitment, we have provided the base compensation range of $108,000 - $162,000 annually for this position and local market. Job Description

Position Summary:

The Design/Product Engineer will design and develop new products as well as maintain and improve current products from a design standpoint based on customer feedback and sales requirements.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop new products, from 3D modeling to drawing creation and production implementation
  • Support design for manufacturability and collaborate with production teams to ensure efficient and cost-effective manufacturing
  • Conduct engineering simulations and basic analysis to validate product performance
  • Apply sound engineering knowledge with aesthetics to design products which look as good as they function
  • Provide directions to factory and suppliers on production processes and facilitate product problem resolution when necessary
  • Partner with the plant development team to meet project timing and cost targets
  • Work with production teams to review drawings, documents, and CAD models for development projects
  • Meet as required with Sales, Marketing, Production, Quality and other departments to communicate project status and solicit feedback
  • Ensure completeness of production qualification, including testing and manufacturing capability verification
  • Carry out physical testing of parts, both in the field and in the test lab
  • Design and carry out design changes and modifications to new and existing parts, jigs, fixtures and tools as required
  • Work with manufacturing team on vendor sourcing, selecting, and contract negotiations
  • Carry out design for manufacturability of parts and components
  • Successfully manage 10 - 15 projects simultaneously
  • Successfully manage complex technological developments and difficult customer interactions

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline
  • At least five years of experience in product development and detailed part/system design
  • Ability to take a product from concept to detailed design and into production
  • Knowledge of a variety of engineering tools such as FEA, FMEA, and Lean practices
  • Knowledge of a variety of materials and manufacturing processes
  • Strong technical bicycle drivetrain knowledge including mechanical aptitude in building and troubleshooting bicycles and components
  • The ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Must be able to read and evaluate mechanical drawings and technical specifications
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, with advanced CAD skills and modeling experience
  • Hands-on work in lab or manufacturing setting
  • Knowledge of product development and sourcing in Asia, preferred
  • Experience in automotive, power sports, consumer products, or related industry, preferred
  • Some travel required
