You will provide leadership, functional management and technical direction to a team of approximately 12 engineers responsible for electromechanical engineering research, design, development, and production support for the Harness Core Team. As a Associate Manager of Cable and Harness Design, you will be responsible to provide the functional directorate, program management, and their customers' effective project management, accurate and detailed plans and schedules and efficient production support. You will also be capable of furthering the department's development, growth, and expertise. Key activities you will accomplish in this role: Provide leadership on a fast paced team from requirements through development and production. Be responsible to assure coordination between functional groups during the product development life cycle. Communicate technical status and issues internally to program leadership, technical leadership and functional leadership as well as externally to the customer. Conducting personnel management for a portion of the NGI Wiring team. Responsible for coordinating subordinate employee recruitment, selection, and training. Responsible for performance assessment, work assignments, salary, and recognition/disciplinary actions. Participate in technical reviews and audits. To be effective in this role, you will need: Flight Cable & Harness design experience, having lead Program Design teams and been sought after as a Subject Matter Expert. Experience in Root Cause Analysis, having proven successes in leading investigation teams and implementing Corrective Actions. Basic Qualifications: Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education with a STEM focus and Mechanical Engineering fundamental principles Prior experience with Cable/Harness design specifically Design for Manufacturing (DfM). Prior experience as a technical lead. Must be a US Citizen; this position will require the ability to obtain government security clearance. Desired Skills: Experience in using Zuken schematic/cabling drafting tool (or similar) and Creo 3D modeling tool (or similar) centered in model-based engineering. Collate with subsystems, survivability, environmental, and other specialty engineers to develop unique cables for various space products. Description:We are looking for an Associate Manager, Cable and Harness Design to join the team that creates Wire Harness and Cable Design for space applications!

The team supports multiple lines of business at Lockheed Martin which means you could be designing wiring systems for the next mission to Mars or the next generation of GPS satellites.

Location: This position does not support teleworking;the selected candidate will be located near our Lockheed Martin Space facility at one of the following locations:

What does this role look like?

  • You will provide leadership, functional management and technical direction to a team of approximately 12 engineers responsible for electromechanical engineering research, design, development, and production support for the Harness Core Team.
  • As a Associate Manager of Cable and Harness Design, you will be responsible to provide the functional directorate, program management, and their customers' effective project management, accurate and detailed plans and schedules and efficient production support. You will also be capable of furthering the department's development, growth, and expertise.

Key activities you will accomplish in this role:

  • Provide leadership on a fast paced team from requirements through development and production.
  • Be responsible to assure coordination between functional groups during the product development life cycle.
  • Communicate technical status and issues internally to program leadership, technical leadership and functional leadership as well as externally to the customer.
  • Conducting personnel management for a portion of the NGI Wiring team.
  • Responsible for coordinating subordinate employee recruitment, selection, and training.
  • Responsible for performance assessment, work assignments, salary, and recognition/disciplinary actions.
  • Participate in technical reviews and audits.

To be effective in this role, you will need:

  • Flight Cable & Harness design experience, having lead Program Design teams and been sought after as a Subject Matter Expert.
  • Experience in Root Cause Analysis, having proven successes in leading investigation teams and implementing Corrective Actions.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education with a STEM focus and Mechanical Engineering fundamental principles
  • Prior experience with Cable/Harness design specifically Design for Manufacturing (DfM).
  • Prior experience as a technical lead.
  • Must be a US Citizen; this position will require the ability to obtain government security clearance.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience in using Zuken schematic/cabling drafting tool (or similar) and Creo 3D modeling tool (or similar) centered in model-based engineering.
  • Collate with subsystems, survivability, environmental, and other specialty engineers to develop unique cables for various space products.
  • Experience in presenting to leadership and customers in design reviews and technical interchange meetings.

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $109,200 - $192,510. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
