We are seeking a Senior Digital Design Engineer. This role encompasses the comprehensive development of digital modems used in RF or optical communication (lasercom) systems from initial prototyping to production. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Design and implement high speed digital designs for new communication systems. Apply research and development skills to architect real-world products and capabilities from ideas and or early prototypes. Stay apprised of current and future release modem related hardware components including but not limited to mixed signal products, SoCs, FPGAs, ADCs, DACs, and high speed electrical and electro-optical transceivers and phys. Recommend digital architectures that optimize designs for performance and cost while balancing design for test and manufacturing. Support prototype unit build and test phases. Maintain detailed documentation of designs, test procedures, and results. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve project objectives and address technical challenges. Required Qualifications: Minimum of 7 years of experience in engineering roles involving complex electronic systems. About The Role The Staff Thermal Design Engineer is responsible for assisting in the development of key thermal components & systems from concept to engineering release of new products. The Sr. Staff Thermal engineer plays an active role in developing thermal components using 3D CAD software and advanced engineering analysis. The involved system design across compute and storage devices, evaluating and advancing current and emerging thermal technologies, from liquid cooling to thermal critical components, and optimizing the hardware for high performing, efficient data center operation. The engineer will be responsible for solving heat transfer problems occurring in complex subcomponents or full hardware systems, using comprehensive thermal design fundamentals and analytical tools. The starting base salary for this role in New York, California, and Washington is between $180,000-$215,000 + target equity + benefits. The base salary offered is dependent upon many factors including skills, experience, location, and education. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. The role is part of the In-Space Systems business unit, which is focused on addressing two of the most compelling challenges in spaceflight today: space infrastructure and increasing mobility on-orbit.

We are seeking a Senior Digital Design Engineer. This role encompasses the comprehensive development of digital modems used in RF or optical communication (lasercom) systems from initial prototyping to production. Your desire to innovate will set the standard for new capabilities and a growing range of customer missions.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Design and implement high speed digital designs for new communication systems.

  • Apply research and development skills to architect real-world products and capabilities from ideas and or early prototypes.

  • Stay apprised of current and future release modem related hardware components including but not limited to mixed signal products, SoCs, FPGAs, ADCs, DACs, and high speed electrical and electro-optical transceivers and phys.

  • Recommend digital architectures that optimize designs for performance and cost while balancing design for test and manufacturing.

  • Support prototype unit build and test phases.

  • Maintain detailed documentation of designs, test procedures, and results.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve project objectives and address technical challenges.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in engineering roles involving complex electronic systems.

  • Able to work with minimal direction as well collaboratively with cross functional team members

  • Experience with HDL (VHDL and or Verilog)

  • Strong understanding of FPGA physical constraints and timing closure.

  • In-depth knowledge of digital signal processing (DSP) algorithms and communication theory (e.g., filter design, clock recovery, signal detection, channel estimation, and equalization)

  • Experience in product schedule, cost, and delivery management

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10 years of experience in engineering roles supporting complex electronic systems in the aerospace or high-end commercial markets.

  • Familiarity with designing and coding for re-use, maintainability and scalability

  • Experience with scripting (Make/TCL/Python) for command line interface build infrastructure and code base project management

  • Experience with AMD/Xilinx Versal family of devices.

  • Experience designing high-speed digital and mixed signal circuits, including analysis, simulation, test, problem-solving and part selection

  • Current Top Secret or TS/SCI Security clearance.

  • Advanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field.

Compensation Range for:

CA applicants is $152,235.00-$213,127.95;CO applicants is $139,979.00-$195,969.90;WA applicants is $152,235.00-$213,127.95
