Job Description

Cloaked is a privacy startup dedicated to rebuilding consumer trust in how personal data is used. Our vision is to create an internet that serves the needs of its users, first and foremost—with individual privacy and opt-in at the core. Our product is a virtual “cloak” that you use as you visit any website — Facebook, Amazon, etc. It lets you choose to share all, some, or none of your private information based on your personal preference.

What will you do?

Team Leadership & Management
- Lead and mentor a team of two product designers, focusing on craft excellence and execution.
- Manage team performance, resource allocation, and project prioritization.
- Support individual growth plans and career development for team members.
- Foster a collaborative, high-performance design culture.

Product Design Ownership
- Own the complete design experience of the product suite from concept to launch.
- Lead end-to-end design process: user research, wireframing, prototyping, and high-fidelity design  
- Maintain and improve scalable design systems and component libraries.
- Ensure design consistency and brand alignment across all platforms  

Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with engineering, product, business, and customer success teams to deliver user-centered solutions.
- Collaborate with leadership to shape design strategy and organizational processes.
- Translate customer and business needs into simple, scalable, evidence-backed design solutions.
- Interface regularly with product managers, executives, and data analysts.

Design Operations & Strategy
- Build and maintain design processes in collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Use quantitative and qualitative customer feedback to iterate on designs.
- Identify optimal design methods and tools for team efficiency
- Manage project timelines and deliverables to ensure quality output.

What skills and experiences will help you? 

Design Expertise
- Expert-level UX/UI design skills with a strong portfolio demonstrating problem-solving.
- Proficiency in design tools (Figma required; experience with Adobe Creative Suite valued).
- Deep understanding of design systems, interaction design, and responsive design principles.
- Experience with user research methodologies and usability testing.

Technical Understanding
- Understanding of technical implications and how design impacts engineering (APIs, etc.)  
- Multi-platform design experience (mobile iOS/Android, desktop, web extensions).
- Ability to create micro-animations and micro-interactions.
- Comfortable reading code and providing implementation feedback.

Leadership & Communication
- 3+ years management experience leading small design teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to present and justify design decisions to stakeholders.
- Experience balancing leadership vision with day-to-day delivery operations  

Industry Knowledge
- Experience with cultural design considerations.
- Understanding of startup/fast-paced, change-management culture.
- Comfort collaborating with engineering teams on technical design decisions.

Compensation and Benefits

We offer above market rate pay and equity based off of the market's best commercially available data. Your compensation will be a combination of salary, bonus and equity.
