Position Summary As a Design Supervisor at Oncor, you’ll supervise the design, estimating, and project management services in support of the District and PMDS (project management design services) activities while providing electrical service in a safe, consistent, and timely manner. You’ll ensure designs meet system integrity and safe operations; meet long and short-range needs; comply with established construction standards; and satisfy customer requirements. Incumbent is part of a team which coordinates various employee groups during major storm restoration efforts as required. This position is an in-office role based in our Waco, TX market. Key Responsibilities: Supervise an organization that provides support for PMDS activities through analytics, tool development, and root cause analysis of existing processes. Supervise other work groups as assigned. Understand and maintain a general working knowledge of Company’s tariff to allow for appropriate handling of customer issues. Establish and promote Safety as a priority in all aspects of daily activities, including the design and operation of facilities to ensure personal and public safety. Communicate with employees, customers, governmental entities, and other work groups to ensure internal and external expectations are met. Promote a positive proactive team building atmosphere with other internal organizations, including NCM (new construction management), Construction, Operations, Standards, Planning, Customer Operations, and Major Design personnel. Resolve issues by making good logical business decisions based on experience and interpretation of Company policies. Responsible for reporting and analytics related to projects, to be shared with multiple levels of the Company Participate in multi-functional teams and serves in leadership roles as needed. The Electrical Engineer shall be able to assist the Project manager and coordinate the electrical engineering aspects of a project for all business segments of the organization with the following contributions: Collects site information. Position Summary

As a Design Supervisor at Oncor, you’ll supervise the design, estimating, and project management services in support of the District and PMDS (project management design services) activities while providing electrical service in a safe, consistent, and timely manner. You’ll ensure designs meet system integrity and safe operations; meet long and short-range needs; comply with established construction standards; and satisfy customer requirements. Incumbent is part of a team which coordinates various employee groups during major storm restoration efforts as required.

This position is an in-office role based in our Waco, TX market.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise an organization that provides support for PMDS activities through analytics, tool development, and root cause analysis of existing processes.
  • Supervise other work groups as assigned.
  • Understand and maintain a general working knowledge of Company’s tariff to allow for appropriate handling of customer issues.
  • Establish and promote Safety as a priority in all aspects of daily activities, including the design and operation of facilities to ensure personal and public safety. Hold employees accountable for their actions concerning safety.
  • Maintain a work environment in compliance with Company policies and guidelines that will promote employee success with emphasis on (but not limited to): Company policies, safety, diversity, communication, continuous process improvement, and employee development.  
  • Supervises a diverse group of employees in multiple locations to achieve high quality results.
  • Provides feedback to employees regarding performance and ensures training and employee development opportunities are provided as needed.
  • Implement and oversee processes supporting the Company as it relates to Oncor’s specified software business programs and technology support for the PMDS organization.
  • Teams with other work groups to accomplish company/customer goals and requirements.
  • Informs employees of and ensures compliance with company policies and procedures. 
  • Provides feedback to employees regarding performance and ensures training and employee development opportunities are provided as needed.
  • Implement processes to review and approve electric distribution designs to ensure compliance with Company standards, best and cost-efficient designs, and the Company’s Line Extension policy.  
  • Define and measure Employee performance by objective and subjective criteria in conjunction with administrating the Company’s salary plan in a fair manner.
  • Communicate with employees, customers, governmental entities, and other work groups to ensure internal and external expectations are met.  
  • Promote a positive proactive team building atmosphere with other internal organizations, including NCM (new construction management), Construction, Operations, Standards, Planning, Customer Operations, and Major Design personnel.
  • Resolve issues by making good logical business decisions based on experience and interpretation of Company policies.
  • Responsible for reporting and analytics related to projects, to be shared with multiple levels of the Company
  • Participate in multi-functional teams and serves in leadership roles as needed.
  • Implement and supervise processes to ensure proper storm assistance is provided as needed from this work group.
  • Typically manages authorized expenditures up to $300,000 per project including - Large Commercial customers, Off-site projects, Residential projects, Street light projects, Special Projects: planned system maintenance, switch automation, etc., Relocation projects, System improvement projects
  • Responsible for ensuring our City Project Management and Commination Plan is executed.
  • Ensure optimum relationships with Cities, Area Managers and our Operations partners.

    Education & Experience:

    • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent AND 5+ years of experience related to design, project management, and/or operations expertise within the electrical utility industry required.

    Travel:

    • up to 25%
