Staff Product Design Lead-logo
WistiaBoston, Massachusetts
Why This Role? This is a unique role for a designer who’s ready to push beyond the boundaries of traditional IC work—someone who brings both a sharp eye for product design and a broader perspective on how teams grow and succeed. Maybe you’ve led a team before but miss the depth of hands-on work. Or maybe you’ve reached the edge of a senior IC role and are ready for more strategic influence, cross-functional leadership, and an opportunity to manage another designer. Either way, this role offers room to stretch. As the Staff Product Designer for the Growth Pillar, you’ll lead design across both Pricing and Onboarding . Your primary focus will be as the hands-on IC for Pricing, where you’ll shape product experiences around packaging, plans, and purchase flows. Alongside that, you’ll guide the overall design direction for the pillar—helping raise quality, shape vision, and support cross-functional teams in working more ambitiously and cohesively. You’ll also manage one designer on the Onboarding team and play a key role in developing a thoughtful, inclusive design culture within the Growth org. The team has a strong foundation of iterative experimentation and product-led thinking. Now, we’re ready to go further—and we’re looking for a design leader who can help us take bigger swings, think more holistically, and elevate our impact. If you’re a strategic thinker who values ambitious outcomes over incrementalism , collaboration over ego , and progress over perfection —you’ll feel at home here. Key Responsibilities 📌 Act as a strategic partner to Product Management, Engineering, Marketing, and Product Marketing peers to shape roadmaps and growth strategies 📌 Lead end-to-end design for the Pricing workstream, from discovery through delivery 📌 Guide design direction and raise quality across both Pricing and Onboarding 📌 Support and grow one direct report on the Onboarding team 📌 Identify and champion improvements in how the team works—from rituals to systems to decision-making What We’re Looking For ✅ Deep experience as a senior or staff-level product designer, with a track record of strong IC execution (10+ years of experience) ✅ Ability to think strategically and tie design decisions to user and business outcomes ✅ Experience collaborating cross-functionally, especially with GTM or marketing-adjacent partners ✅Experience working horizontally across many product areas ✅ Strong communication and facilitation skills—comfortable leading conversations, giving feedback, and aligning diverse teams ✅ Bonus: Familiarity with pricing, monetization, or product-led growth experimentation Our Design Values Intentional Simplicity. Design is best when the product is the simplest for users rather than the designer. Your designs strike the right balance of simplicity, making our tools straightforward and intuitive to new users versus simplistic or unremarkable. Meaningful Creativity. This is achieved when the final product results from many inputs and active exploration. You’ll help designers add meaning through their creativity and focus their skills in ideation and creation around a real customer problem or desire. Polished Presentation. This means much more than pixel-perfect design, but it includes the assets and processes to implement the design successfully. Our team should feel inspired when we see each other’s designs at every stage along the way to implementation. Ambitious and Determined. Ambitious design is by definition, difficult to achieve. So when designing for the future, you’ll consider long-term benefits not just short-term inconveniences. Helping your team be ambitious sets us up for better outcomes considering what we know about the business, the market, and excellent product design processes. Why You’ll Love Working at Wistia About Wistia Making videos is easy—making them work for your business? That’s where Wistia shines. Our end-to-end platform gives businesses the tools to create, host, share, and analyze videos and webinars, all in one place. And we know that mission starts with a team that feels valued, supported, and empowered to do their best work. About the Team The Growth Pillar is a cross-functional group focused on helping more people discover, sign up for, and get value from Wistia. It includes two key workstreams: Pricing , where we explore packaging, monetization, and purchase flows—and Onboarding, where we help new users find success quickly and start building meaningful habits. Design is central to this work—whether it’s clarifying product value, simplifying key decisions, or shaping experiments that deepen engagement. 👥 Who you’ll work with: You’ll collaborate closely with PMs, Engineers, Product Marketing, Growth Marketing, and other senior designers. You’ll also work with teams across Wistia—especially Wistia UI and Storefront—to ensure our growth work is aligned and scalable. 🌍 Working style: Remote-First with optional access to our office space in Cambridge, MA. 💬 Collaboration style: Async-first Scheduled syncs (weekly meetings, project checkins) Ad hoc creative collaboration ✈️ Travel requirements: Travel to Boston 3x a year for Strategic Planning and Roadmapping on-sites. ✨ What it’s like to work on this team: The Growth team is curious, collaborative, and driven by outcomes—not just output. We approach problems with openness and rigor, and while the work can be complex and cross-functional, there’s plenty of space for creativity, reflection, and craft. We experiment with intention, ask big questions, and aim for thoughtful progress—not just quick wins. We try to ensure that Wistia is an inclusive and diverse place where everyone feels happy, fulfilled, respected, comfortable, and welcome. We're proud to be an equal opportunity workplace. We care a lot, so our benefits are actually benefits, not just the fun stuff like swag and snacks in the office (though we also have lots of those too!).
