What You'll Get to Do: Design, prototyping and production support of state-of-the-art RF, digital, and mixed signal multi-chip modules (MCMs), Printed Wiring Boards (PWBs), and Circuit Card Assemblies (CCAs) using various substrate materials and chip-scale packaging technologies Collaboration within a cross-functional Integrated Product Team (IPT); effective and timely communication with peers in adjacent functions, including electrical design, systems engineering, thermal analysis, structural analysis, drafting, supply chain management and manufacturing. Organizing and prioritizing tasks to accomplish project milestones within schedule and budgetary constraints. Providing technical leadership and mentoring to less experienced personnel. This position is contingent on contract award and successfully transferring/obtaining final DoD Secret Clearance prior to start. Role Overview: As a Predictive Process Cost Analysis and Design Expert, you will be instrumental in addressing both immediate and long-term challenges in bringing novel therapeutics to patients. Your role is crucial in bridging the gap between drug discovery and biomanufacturing, by using process economics and sustainability tools to identify key bioprocessing challenges to be conquered by feasibility studies. Disruptive technologies to revolutionize the industry and will be designed, developed and assessed both by simulation tools and prototype evaluations. This pioneering approach will bridge the integration of process cost analysis, with the latest rapid computational fluid dynamics methodologies. This will provide improved technology design and prediction of operating conditions to streamline process development. The role will be foundational to driving direction and focus for identifying & handling of the key challenges facing the bioprocessing of new and novel modalities. What you will accomplish together with us Drive the process cost modeling and simulation strategy. Create & execute process cost analysis models for next generation bioprocessing. Processing for next generation intensified mAbs as well as gene therapy, cell therapy and cell free manufacturing. The work will play a vital role in directly focused research to the key bottle necks and the cost targets that should be achieved. Designing and implementing the process design for sustainability' where process analysis for cost will be optimized alongside sustainability process targets to minimize waste, reduce water and drive circularity economy of plastics. Integrate hands-on bioprocessing knowledge with novel GPU accelerated computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations to rapidly design and develop new technologies (e.g., bioreactors, media exchange, cell separation units) addressing current limitations in biomanufacturing of advanced therapies (AT). Collaborate with data analytics experts and identify innovative approaches to incorporating process cost and sustainability analysis into process simulations as process development optimizer and guided decision-making tools of the future. Support collaborations within Corporate research and across Sartorius in technology assessment leading to new business opportunities. Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a Staff Electromechanical Design Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Linthicum, Maryland and will require 100% on-site work.

What You'll Get to Do:

  • Design, prototyping and production support of state-of-the-art RF, digital, and mixed signal multi-chip modules (MCMs), Printed Wiring Boards (PWBs), and Circuit Card Assemblies (CCAs) using various substrate materials and chip-scale packaging technologies

  • Collaboration within a cross-functional Integrated Product Team (IPT); effective and timely communication with peers in adjacent functions, including electrical design, systems engineering, thermal analysis, structural analysis, drafting, supply chain management and manufacturing.

  • Organizing and prioritizing tasks to accomplish project milestones within schedule and budgetary constraints.

  • Providing technical leadership and mentoring to less experienced personnel.

This position is contingent on contract award and successfully transferring/obtaining final DoD Secret Clearance prior to start.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with 12 years of experience, a master's degree with 10 years of experience or a PhD with 8 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical fields.; will consider 4 years of applied experience in lieu of degree requirement.

  • U.S Citizenship required.

  • A final DoD Secret Clearance is required to start.

  • Experience with PWB/CCA design and signal routing, including chip-scale packaging technologies and substrate\PWB layout

  • Working knowledge of materials, specifications, manufacturing processes and design tools utilized for multi-chip modules, PWBs and CCAs

  • Proficient with AutoCAD and/or Xpedition software

  • Familiarity with NX or other 3D modeling software

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degrees in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical fields.

  • A current/active DoD Secret Clearance or higher

  • Proficiency with ASME Y14.5 geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) and ASME Y14.100 engineering drawing practices

  • Familiarity with thermal and structural analysis considerations, methodologies, and software tools

  • Experience with hands-on assembly and testing of prototype electronic hardware

  • Experience in a technical leadership role on a cross-functional product development team

  • Experience routing RF signals

Salary Range: $163,200.00 - $244,800.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
