Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Teach 27 hours, as assigned, annually within the Department of Fine Arts. Serve as the academic advisor for departmental majors. Engage in scholarly research. Engage in service to the department, college, University, and students. Initiate and develop new programs within the Department of Fine Arts. Serve on University committees as assigned. Attend daily Chapel. Participate in program, department, college, or faculty meetings, as requested. Participate in University recruitment activities. Evidence of prior scholarship of discovery, integration, application, and/or teaching and learning is preferred. Commitment to ongoing scholarship is required. A demonstrated history, competence in, and commitment to quality teaching at the undergraduate level that create and maintain learning environments conducive to active and engaged learning, specifically in the area of graphic design. This role will focus on advancing Vast's structural analysis capabilities while also integrating fluid and thermal modeling into overall space station system performance. You will manage a team of analysts across structural, thermal, and fluid domains, set technical standards, and ensure models and simulations directly inform design decisions and certification. Key Responsibilities Team Leadership Manage and lead a team of up to 6 analysts, including hiring, mentoring, and technical development. This position will report to the Sr. Director of Product and System Integration Silicon and will work closely with systems software, hardware, and test teams responsible for delivering the communications payload. This position is based in our Saratoga office . What you will do: Design and develop FPGA-based systems for wireless communication applications Implement and optimize algorithms for modulation, demodulation, error correction, and signal processing Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define system requirements and translate them into FPGA architectures Conduct performance simulations and analyses to validate FPGA designs Develop and execute test plans to ensure the functionality and performance of FPGA designs in real-world conditions Debug and troubleshoot FPGA designs, addressing any issues that arise during development and testing Stay abreast of the latest advancements in FPGA technology, wireless communication standards, and signal processing techniques Document design processes, test results, and performance metrics to ensure thorough and clear communication within the team What you bring to this role: Master’s or Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field 10+ years of experience in FPGA design and implementation Strong background in wireless communication systems, including modem design Proficiency in hardware description languages (HDL) such as VHDL or Verilog Experience with FPGA development tools and platforms, such as Xilinx, Altera, or similar Deep understanding of communication theory, digital signal processing, and error correction techniques, and experience with MATLAB Proven ability to optimize FPGA designs for performance, power, and area Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative team environment Strong analytical and communication skills Bonus points for the following: Experience with 3GPP standards, particularly 5GNR Knowledge of software-defined radio (SDR) platforms and tools Proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++ or Python Familiarity with high-speed digital design and signal integrity analysis This is a full time, exempt position, based out of our Saratoga office. The target base pay for this position is $170,000 - $220,000 annually. The total compensation packaged will be determined by various factors such as your relevant job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.   • A demonstrated history, competence in, and commitment to quality teaching at the undergraduate level that create and maintain learning environments conducive to active and engaged learning, specifically in the area of graphic design.
