Lockheed Martin Space Programs is actively looking for candidates who test engineering experience with an unrelenting commitment to drive continuous improvement in producibility & testability. As a Design for Test Engineer, you will be the voice of Production Test in early engagement with Design Engineering & Program Management. You will partner with early lifecycle product design and development teams with responsibility for assessing designs for testability. The Design for Test engineer will be involved from initial concept and focus on steering designs towards lowest lead-time solutions & commonality/standardization across the enterprise. You will engage on a regular basis with a broad set of stakeholders including leadership during early program phases. You will work closely with both Support Equipment & Flight Hardware teams to drive collaboration, concurrency, & optimal solutions for the entire systems lifecycle. You will leverage experience from the DFX team to create new testability criteria and recommendations. Strong interpersonal skills, innovation, and willingness to respectfully challenge the assumptions is critical. The candidate will be prepared to work in a fast paced and collaborative environment in which the best ideas regularly set the course of the team and Program. In this role will offer you the following daily key responsibilities: Contribute to internal & external design reviews as a liaison between LM design engineering & Production Test to evaluate producibility, commonality, and requirements optimization Develop/steer/improve tools & processes (incl. software) to evaluate designs early in their lifecycle to realize downstream benefits in cost, lead-time, & yield improvements Catalogue and monitor test paradigms for configuration, design criteria, etc. to drive standardization & optimization Proactively research & engage the industrial base to expand LM knowledge base and drive best practices and consistency with the testing strategies Share data & processes with Cross-BA/1LMX partners to drive Enterprise solutions (incl. LM Fellows network) This position does not support teleworking; the preferred candidate will be located near our Lockheed Martin Space facility one of the Coolest places to work: Denver, Colorado , and be expected to work in the office. Basic Qualifications: To be effective, you will need to possess these basic qualifications: Bachelor's degree in engineering field (ie. mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, etc.). 7+ years of experience in hardware design engineering, test engineering, test development, or test conduction/troubleshooting at any layer of assembly (part, component/item/product, subsystem, or system) for a relevant discipline/product (electrical, RF, mechanical, propulsion, etc.). 2 years of experience with new product introduction (first-time design, build, & test). Lean/Six-sigma experience (e.g., error-proofing, variation reduction). Experience with ERP/MRP systems; specific system experience not critical. You will need to be a US Citizen, and be able to obtain and maintain a US DoD SECRET clearance, to support this government contract, as well as successfully pass a drug and background check, in order to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. What does this role look like?

Lockheed Martin Space Programs is actively looking for candidates who test engineering experience with an unrelenting commitment to drive continuous improvement in producibility & testability. This person will be collaborating with cross-functional teams (engineering, production, finance, quality, etc.) to evaluate design trade-offs, support producibility, drive commonality, and manage requirements flow down efficiently while aligning with Lockheed Martin Space programs overall procurement strategy, helping to reduce lead-time, and promote business objectives of resiliency, cost, cash, and growth.

As a Design for Test Engineer, you will be the voice of Production Test in early engagement with Design Engineering & Program Management. You will partner with early lifecycle product design and development teams with responsibility for assessing designs for testability. The Design for Test engineer will be involved from initial concept and focus on steering designs towards lowest lead-time solutions & commonality/standardization across the enterprise. You will engage on a regular basis with a broad set of stakeholders including leadership during early program phases. You will work closely with both Support Equipment & Flight Hardware teams to drive collaboration, concurrency, & optimal solutions for the entire systems lifecycle. You will leverage experience from the DFX team to create new testability criteria and recommendations. Strong interpersonal skills, innovation, and willingness to respectfully challenge the assumptions is critical. The candidate will be prepared to work in a fast paced and collaborative environment in which the best ideas regularly set the course of the team and Program.

In this role will offer you the following daily key responsibilities:

  • Contribute to internal & external design reviews as a liaison between LM design engineering & Production Test to evaluate producibility, commonality, and requirements optimization
  • Develop/steer/improve tools & processes (incl. software) to evaluate designs early in their lifecycle to realize downstream benefits in cost, lead-time, & yield improvements
  • Catalogue and monitor test paradigms for configuration, design criteria, etc. to drive standardization & optimization
  • Proactively research & engage the industrial base to expand LM knowledge base and drive best practices and consistency with the testing strategies
  • Share data & processes with Cross-BA/1LMX partners to drive Enterprise solutions (incl. LM Fellows network)

This position does not support teleworking; the preferred candidate will be located near our Lockheed Martin Space facility one of the Coolest places to work: Denver, Colorado , and be expected to work in the office.

Basic Qualifications:

To be effective, you will need to possess these basic qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering field (ie. mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, etc.).
  • 7+ years of experience in hardware design engineering, test engineering, test development, or test conduction/troubleshooting at any layer of assembly (part, component/item/product, subsystem, or system) for a relevant discipline/product (electrical, RF, mechanical, propulsion, etc.).
  • 2 years of experience with new product introduction (first-time design, build, & test).
  • Lean/Six-sigma experience (e.g., error-proofing, variation reduction).
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems; specific system experience not critical.
  • You will need to be a US Citizen, and be able to obtain and maintain a US DoD SECRET clearance, to support this government contract, as well as successfully pass a drug and background check, in order to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Desired Skills:

To be effective, ideally, you should also have:

  • Master's degree in engineering.
  • Experience with test automation, built-in-test, lot testing, statistical sampling in lieu of test.
  • Experience with transition from EDU hardware to Flight hardware.
  • Experience with GSE-to-UUT interface control & optimization.
  • Experience in new product introduction of high complexity, high mix products.
  • Experience with Concurrent Engineering.
  • Experience in a fast-paced, iterative design environment within Aerospace and Defense industries.
  • Self-driven problem-solver willing to take risks and build something from the ground up; adding incremental value over-time, not waiting for perfection.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • High data literacy & data-driven mindset.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $109,200 - $192,510. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays.
