This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin's Blue Moon landers and related products. To further Blue Origin's mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface. We are looking for an experienced turbomachinery design engineer for our Lunar Lander for NASA's Artemis mission. You'll be responsible for creating CAD models, generating drawings, and performing analysis for cryogenic pump components into the Lunar Lander's fluid system. A successful candidate will have a strong fundamental understanding of turbomachinery critical design features and experience designing turbomachinery hardware from scratch. Additionally, this candidate should have a strong understanding of turbomachinery manufacturing and quality processes to guide GD&T decisions. Responsibilities: Create and modify CAD models of lunar vehicle cryogenic pumps in CREO Create Interface Control Models and Interface Control Drawings Deliver geometry to analysis teams in support to feed Finite Element Models Release engineering drawings in Windchill Incorporate drafting standards and standard drawing notes based on company, program, and industry standards. Perform model and drawing check activities during release reviews. Qualifications: B.S. in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Engineering or related technical subject area 5+ years of experience in turbomachinery design Strong mechanical design skills using Creo Parametric / ProE software and Windchill. Professional experience performing turbomachinery layout during clean sheet or preliminary design phases Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools to analyze turbomachinery components (ANSYS preferred) Demonstrated expertise in standard fits, tolerance stacks, and GD&T analysis (ASME Y14.5) in turbomachinery applications Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion. Position: Adjunct Faculty- Department of Design Reports to: Design Department Chair The Department of Design at DigiPen Institute of Technology invites applicants for potential future positions of Adjunct Faculty- System Design Instructor to help teach the next generation of designers. Join the pool of vetted faculty adjuncts for future adjunct instructor positions. Help students develop the necessary skills to succeed in the field of system design for games. The Department of Design faculty who teach these topics are themselves subject matter experts who bring decades of first-hand industry experience from the world of mobile games, PC/console games, tabletop games, user research, and more. They help students learn design thinking and how to solve problems from the vantage of the end user, creating more seamless and engaging experiences in the process. Design courses at DigiPen cover a multitude of sub-disciplines within the broader practice of professional game design and development. Most of these courses fall into one of six design specialization tracks - systems design, level design, user experience design, narrative design, technical design, and user research. After completing the application process, you may be invited to participate in the interview process. If accepted, you will be added to our pool of pre-approved adjuncts. The Department of Design hires adjunct faculty from the pool of pre-approved adjuncts each semester on an as-needed basis. This is an ongoing posting. For more information about DigiPen's offerings, visit: Current Courses | DigiPen Essential Functions/Duties Teach introductory and upper-division courses in System Design in accordance with departmental policies and assigned class schedules (evening classes available) Focus on gameplay systems and user/player choice in games and projects. The ideal candidate has a passion for helping students reduce complex systems to simple understandable components/modules and understands how systems interact to encourage engaging experiences for users. Demonstrate design and analysis techniques Grade, critique, and input assignment feedback on a weekly basis to the learning management system (Moodle) Organize class activities, demos, and assignments Relate assignments and tests to learning outcomes Manage Student Teaching Assistants, if required; supervising their punches and reviewing their weekly hours Provide input, create, and improve course materials Offer weekly office hours In-person teaching, with online classes when necessary, in Redmond, WA Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in any field or equivalent. 5+ years of professional design experience (for example, 2+ shipped titles, published works, published research projects, or other body of work) Lecture experience, including professional talks or panels at conventions or events. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Demonstrate evidence of teaching experience that supports a diverse student body and individuals from a variety of backgrounds and experiences Ability to accommodate different learning styles and special needs Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Design, Psychology, Communications, Interactive Media, or a related field. 10+ years of experience, including design lead positions, with the ability to apply the skills of the area of specialization. Shipped titles on different platforms and media Instructor experience in a college setting, or other teaching experience. Salary Range: $5,184 - $8,709 per term, depending on credit hours, class size, and faculty rank Not benefits eligible. Write and implement test plan and thoroughly verify a design in a product shipment focused / compressed schedule. Work with architects, designers, and pre and post silicon verification teams to accomplish your tasks. What we need to see: Bachelors or Masters Degree (or equivalent experience) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering At least 5 years of validated experience. Background in verification at Unit/Sub-system/SOC level and expertise in SystemVerilog a must. Experience using random stimulus along with functional coverage and assertion-based verification methodologies a must. Experience in verification methodologies like UVM/VMM and exposure to industry standard verification tools for simulation and debug. Ways to stand out from the crowd: Expertise in bus or interconnect protocols (e.g. PCI Express, USB, SATA) a huge plus. Experience in verifying complex SerDes system, understanding mixed-signal designs, and have experience in modeling of analog circuits a huge plus. Perl, Python, C/C++ programming language experience. This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin's Blue Moon landers and related products. To further Blue Origin's mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.

We are looking for an experienced turbomachinery design engineer for our Lunar Lander for NASA's Artemis mission. You'll be responsible for creating CAD models, generating drawings, and performing analysis for cryogenic pump components into the Lunar Lander's fluid system. A successful candidate will have a strong fundamental understanding of turbomachinery critical design features and experience designing turbomachinery hardware from scratch. Additionally, this candidate should have a strong understanding of turbomachinery manufacturing and quality processes to guide GD&T decisions. You will work directly with NASA and our National Team Partners as part of the Human Landing System (HLS) Sustaining Lunar Development (SLD) program. You will play a key role in developing the Lunar Transportation system that will return humans to the Moon and extend human presence permanently beyond the bounds of Earth.

Responsibilities:

  • Create and modify CAD models of lunar vehicle cryogenic pumps in CREO
  • Create Interface Control Models and Interface Control Drawings
  • Deliver geometry to analysis teams in support to feed Finite Element Models
  • Release engineering drawings in Windchill
  • Incorporate drafting standards and standard drawing notes based on company, program, and industry standards.
  • Perform model and drawing check activities during release reviews.

Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Engineering or related technical subject area
  • 5+ years of experience in turbomachinery design
  • Strong mechanical design skills using Creo Parametric / ProE software and Windchill.
  • Professional experience performing turbomachinery layout during clean sheet or preliminary design phases
  • Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools to analyze turbomachinery components (ANSYS preferred)
  • Demonstrated expertise in standard fits, tolerance stacks, and GD&T analysis (ASME Y14.5) in turbomachinery applications
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

  • Experience releasing drawings in aerospace

Compensation Range for:

CA applicants is $117,498.00-$164,497.20;CO applicants is $107,707.00-$150,789.45;WA applicants is $117,498.00-$164,497.20
