Requisition #: 75800 The Role at a Glance We are seeking a Director of Derivatives Accounting, focusing on leading the derivatives accounting and financial reporting function for a large book of derivative positions spanning futures, rate, FX, equity, credit and TRS derivatives. This role focuses on US GAAP and statutory accounting, hedge accounting under ASC 815 (cash flow and fair value hedges for interest rate and foreign exchange risk), fair value measurement, and the end-to-end monthly close, disclosures, and audit interface. The Director will design and operate a robust control environment (SOX), own the documentation and testing for hedge relationships, deliver timely, accurate general ledger and financial statement reporting, including NAIC SSAP No. 86 and Schedule DB. The Role at a Glance

We are seeking a Director of Derivatives Accounting, focusing on leading the derivatives accounting and financial reporting function for a large book of derivative positions spanning futures, rate, FX, equity, credit and TRS derivatives. This role focuses on US GAAP and statutory accounting, hedge accounting under ASC 815 (cash flow and fair value hedges for interest rate and foreign exchange risk), fair value measurement, and the end-to-end monthly close, disclosures, and audit interface. The Director will design and operate a robust control environment (SOX), own the documentation and testing for hedge relationships, deliver timely, accurate general ledger and financial statement reporting, including NAIC SSAP No. 86 and Schedule DB.

What you'll be doing

  • Ensure proper accounting for high-volume products both in and outside of hedge accounting under both US GAAP and SAP
  • Manage life cycle events and reinsurance impacts related to derivatives
  • Manage the hedge accounting program under ASC 815 for cash flow and fair value hedges
  • Establish at-inception documentation, leveraging technology for STP
  • Build and maintain quantitative testing, including construction of hypothetical derivatives to measure the hedged risk, regression testing, and other analysis to support hedge accounting
  • Oversee the design and execution of control environment, maintaining complete audit trails
  • Laison with multiple stakeholders across the organization from Treasury/Front Office, Middle Office, Legal, Reinsurance, Accounting Policy, various lines of business accounting, and Controller/Corporate Accounting
  • Prepare US GAAP footnotes and MD&A inputs for derivatives and hedging
  • Coordinate statutory reporting for derivatives and Schedule DB; ensure alignment of GAAP/STAT and clear reconciliations
  • Support external audit and internal audit requests, providing technical memos, control narratives, and evidence, and managing any remediation plans and status tracking
  • Own accounting rules and configuration in derivatives systems and help drive implementation of new derivative accounting platform
  • Partner with Treasury on hedge objectives, designation timing, and documentation
  • Work with Controllers/Financial Reporting on policy alignment, disclosures, and close cadence
  • Coordinate with Risk/Valuation for model inputs and market events impacting measurement and effectiveness
  • Lead, coach, and develop managers/analysts focused on derivatives accounting and reporting, setting clear responsibilities and growth plans
  • Foster a culture of technical rigor, ownership, and continuous improvement

The pay range for this position is $96,900 - $176,200 with anticipated pay for new hires between the minimum and midpoint of the range and could vary above and below the listed range as permitted by applicable law. The base pay is just one component of Lincoln's total rewards package for employees.
