The Designer 2 will support the development of physical substation design packages in alignment with project requirements, internal standards, and client expectations. Key Responsibilities Create and develop substation physical design packages, including layout plans, sections, details, wiring diagrams and associated design documentation. Interpret engineering input, specifications, and standards to complete design tasks accurately and efficiently. Collaborate with engineers and project leads to ensure designs meet project scope, schedule, and quality requirements. Maintain accurate design records and documentation in accordance with LUZCO standards. Assist in updating and maintaining standard design templates and libraries as needed. Ability to troubleshoot NCs on CNC equipment. Familiar with AC/DC electrical systems from 5VDC – 600VAC single and three phase. LUZCO Technologies is seeking a Substation Designer 2 to join our Substation Engineering team. This position is ideal for someone with at least 2 years of recent, hands-on experience in substation design who can take ownership of basic design tasks with minimal input from engineers. The Designer 2 will support the development of physical substation design packages in alignment with project requirements, internal standards, and client expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and develop substation physical design packages, including layout plans, sections, details, wiring diagrams and associated design documentation.
  • Interpret engineering input, specifications, and standards to complete design tasks accurately and efficiently.
  • Collaborate with engineers and project leads to ensure designs meet project scope, schedule, and quality requirements.
  • Maintain accurate design records and documentation in accordance with LUZCO standards.
  • Assist in updating and maintaining standard design templates and libraries as needed.

Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of direct substation design experience specifically in physical substation design.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently complete design tasks with limited guidance.
  • Strong understanding of substation components, layout concepts, and applicable design practices.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment.


Preferred Skills:

  • Experience working with utility clients.
  • Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., IEEE, NESC).
  • Experience with Bluebeam or other design markup tools.
