The E&I Engineer will be responsible for the design, maintenance, and optimization of the plant's electrical and instrumentation systems. Additionally, the E&I Engineer will be responsible for the management, maintenance, and enhancement of the plant's industrial control systems. POSITION SUMMARY The Electrical Foreman is responsible for overseeing daily operations at a worksite to ensure the completion of projects in a safe and efficient manner. Duties include managing trade professionals to perform specific tasks, monitoring budget and expenses for staff, supplies and tools. The Electrical Foreman is expected to direct, supervise and troubleshoot routine issues that occur on the job, ensure all safety rules are followed and develop work schedules based on employee and contractor availability. ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES Read blueprints and specifications to determine the scope of work: locations, quantities, and sizes of materials required. Identify all tools required for tasks. Identify safety risks and the precautions required to eliminate those risks. Lead crew in daily safe operations. Manage workloads, supplies, equipment, and reporting. Cut, bend and run conduit as specified on blueprints. Install, modify and fabricate cable tray as necessary according to specifications. Assemble and install electrical equipment. Terminate wires and cable to electrical equipment such as but not limited to breakers, control panels, and distribution systems. Test electrical components for continuity and proper voltage readings according to specifications. Inspect electrical equipment and components to identify hazards and to ensure the equipment is in good operational condition. Setup and maintain temporary power systems. Install and maintain grounding systems for all equipment and structures. Supervise, coordinate, and schedule the activities of workers. Other duties as assigned. The plant specializes in producing ingredients for cosmetic and pharmaceutical products. It has enhanced our proximity to our North American customers and increased our manufacturing capabilities worldwide.Its overall concept was designed to incorporate the highest levels of manufacturing quality for cosmetic and pharmaceutical ingredients. All of the Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) are integrated at the product flow level as well as at the individual flow level. The units, all outfitted with a self-cleaning system, are fully automated for consistent and easily traceable quality.The plant has been designed with a minimal-waste or emission objective. The best available techniques were used to reduce waste and emissions to a strict minimum at their origin. The principles of recycling have been systematically adopted and final discharge treatment systems have been installed at the vent and waste-water levels to ensure there is minimal impact on the environment.

The E&I Engineer will be responsible for the design, maintenance, and optimization of the plant's electrical and instrumentation systems. This role requires a strong understanding of industrial controls, power distribution, and process instrumentation, with a focus on ensuring plant safety, reliability, and efficiency. Additionally, the E&I Engineer will be responsible for the management, maintenance, and enhancement of the plant's industrial control systems. This includes a focus on the hardware and software related to PLCs, HMIs, DCS, & BPCS systems. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of troubleshooting complex issues, managing projects, and have a strong technical background in automation and control systems.

  • Design & Engineering: Develop and design electrical and instrumentation systems for new projects and plant modifications, including power distribution systems, motor controls, and field instrumentation. Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry standards (e.g., NFPA 70E, ISA, NEC) and company specifications.

  • Troubleshooting & Support: Provide technical support for complex issues related to plant electrical, instrumentation, and control systems.

  • Project Management: Lead and execute E&I and Automation related capital projects from conception through commissioning, including scope development, budget management, scheduling, contractor management, commissioning, & validation.

  • Maintenance & Reliability: Develop and implement preventative maintenance strategies for E&I equipment to improve reliability and reduce downtime. Analyze equipment failures to identify root causes and implement corrective actions. Provide support for all OT systems, including diagnosing and resolving issues with PLCs, VFDs, and other automated equipment.

  • System Upgrades: Recommend and implement upgrades of aging control systems, field instruments, and electrical components. Manage the lifecycle of control system hardware and software, instruments and electrical components, including planning and executing system upgrades, migrations, and new technology integrations.

  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure all work is performed in accordance with company safety protocols and regulations. Serve as a subject matter expert for plant safety systems and hazardous area classifications. Actively participates in the safety culture at the Richmond facility.

  • Cybersecurity: Implement and enforce cybersecurity best practices within the OT environment, including managing access controls, system patching, and monitoring for security threats.

  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for all electrical schematics, instrument datasheets, control narratives, network diagrams, system architecture drawings, and SOP’s.

  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.

  • Working knowledge of Cybersecurity principles as they apply to industrial control systems

Are you a MATCH?

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Automation Engineering, or a related field.

  • 5-10 years of experience as an E&I or Controls Engineer in a chemical manufacturing, petrochemical, refining, or other industrial manufacturing environment.

  • Proven experience with PLC programming from major vendors (e.g., Rockwell, Siemens) and DCS systems (e.g., Emerson DeltaV, Honeywell).

  • Strong knowledge of industrial instrumentation (pressure, temperature, flow, level) and control loop tuning.

  • Familiarity with electrical power distribution systems (480V, 24V DC), VFDs, and motor control centers (MCCs).

  • Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and other relevant safety standards.

  • Experience with SCADA and HMI platforms (ex. Wonderware, FactoryTalkView, etc.)

  • Working knowledge of industrial communication protocols (ex. Modbus, TCP/IP, Ethernet/IP, etc.)

  • Strong sense of ownership for assigned area and takes immediate action to correct issues as they arise.

  • Driven to communicate effectively with all stakeholders.
