Job Description
Low Voltage Technician
Job Summary:
This role will be responsible for installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining various low voltage systems including, but not limited to, security systems, fire alarms, nurse call stations, and other data networks. The ideal candidate will have a keen understanding of electrical systems, a sharp eye for detail, and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues. Knowledge of industry standards and safety regulations is crucial to this role.
Responsibilities:
- Install, maintain, and repair low voltage systems.
- Follow blueprint and schematic diagrams to determine the location of wiring and equipment.
- Inspect installation sites to ensure safety and adequacy of wiring.
- Conduct tests to locate and diagnose system malfunctions.
- Comply with all safety regulations and building codes.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.
- Communicate effectively with clients.
- Stay updated with new technologies and tools in the field.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Low Voltage Technician in a similar role.
- Extensive knowledge of electrical systems and wiring.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical documents and blueprints.
- Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
- Strong physical condition to lift heavy equipment up to 50 lbs. and work in various conditions including but not limited to indoor/outdoor, ladders, tight spaces.
- Valid driver's license with excellent driving record.
- Ability to see and distinguish a full color spectrum.
- Excellent verbal and written skills.
- Self-starter who can produce excellent results consistently without supervision.
- Must have the availability to be on call to address emergencies, delays, bad weather, etc.
Items of note:
- 5 years' experience in this role is required; 10 years or more is preferred.
- A company vehicle will be provided for work use to the successful candidate.
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
- Ability to be bonded if necessary for work assignments.
- Bi-lingual is a plus.
