ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES Provides guidance and leadership to newer colleagues and/or those with less experience on complex engineering assignments. Surveys property, casualty and liability losses, typically at residential and commercial buildings and loss scenes. Conducts investigations to determine the root cause of events and failures. Works closely with engineers and investigators to produce detailed reports, drawings, and/or outline the cause and origin of losses and damages. Develops plans, reports and drawings to meet client's needs and/or determine and document the failure analysis and causation of failures. This role is responsible for providing installation, service, and troubleshooting support on machinery in the field, specifically of company products including: packaging machinery for wet and dry filling, capping, and can seaming. This role is part of a team mixed of engineers and technicians with a solid support structure. This team member is expected to interface with customers in the field, solve problems, and collaborate with engineering to help innovate and continuously improve our products and services. Key Responsibilities/Complexities: Provide support in troubleshooting problems with customer equipment either onsite or via phone or other technology. As a team, complete onsite new machine installations; perform routine and/or emergency electro-mechanical service. Installation activities consist of but are not limited to: Controls programming and modification Coordination of layout at customer site including cable runs/pulls Termination of cables and wiring Installation and configuration of system software Mechanical mounting of sensors or other devices System tuning and optimization. Integrate line control when needed. Diagnose servo control issues. Collaborate with engineering teams when needed. Train customer operations and maintenance personnel with emphasis on safe operation. Provide follow-up documentation, such as installation and service records and trip reports/expenses, in a timely manner. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides guidance and leadership to newer colleagues and/or those with less experience on complex engineering assignments.

  • Surveys property, casualty and liability losses, typically at residential and commercial buildings and loss scenes.

  • Conducts investigations to determine the root cause of events and failures.

  • Works closely with engineers and investigators to produce detailed reports, drawings, and/or outline the cause and origin of losses and damages.  

  • Develops plans, reports and drawings to meet client's needs and/or determine and document the failure analysis and causation of failures.

  • Provides expert testimony in a court of law and/or in depositions.

  • Determines applicable engineering practices to fulfill the prescribed scope of work, project specifics, timelines, and cost estimates for the professional services provided.

  • Documents and maintains billable hours on a time and expense basis for failure analysis and engineering projects for clients.

  • Collaborates with sales and operations managers, architects, developers, insurance adjusters, claims managers and attorneys to develop demand for your professional services.

  • Collaborates with EFI's national team of forensic experts to leverage experiences and assist on projects.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Licensing

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required. Professional Engineering (PE) license is required.

Experience

Eight (8) years of experience or equivalent combination of experience and education required including two (2) years of engineering experience specifically in failure analysis and forensic engineering plus 2 years in insurance and/or risk management services industry.
