Arc Boat CompanyTorrance, California

$39+ / hour

What we’re building Our vision is to electrify all waterborne vessels, and we're starting with electric water sport boats. Gas boats dominate today’s marine industry not because of great product offerings but because of a lack of better alternatives. Boaters have grown accustomed to vehicles that feel stuck in the 1980s: unreliable, expensive, loud, noxious, and a nightmare to own and operate. They’re also awful for the water and air they reside in. By contrast, electric boats are superior in nearly every way: not only are they far more reliable and less costly to operate, but they’re also quieter, quicker, and cleaner, with no fumes or pollutants. However, they’ve been held back by both the technology and the talent to make them truly competitive with gas alternatives. That’s Arc’s opportunity. Using modern, aerospace- and automotive-inspired techniques, we’re building our hulls, batteries, cooling systems, firmware, and software together to deliver the next generation of watercraft. What we’re looking for We’re looking for someone who’s fired up by our mission and ready to build. You’ll thrive here if you adapt quickly, take ownership, and care about the details. You will join our Electrical Systems Engineering team as a summer intern from June 15th-August 21st 2025. You will work from our headquarters in Torrance, CA. Given that we’re a startup, you will be working in a fast-moving, dynamic environment that requires adaptability. That said, here are some responsibilities and qualifications we expect to stay relatively constant for this role Core Responsibilities Assist in developing and testing control algorithms using tools such as MATLAB Simulink and Stateflow. Support hardware and software integration for vehicle control systems. Learn to interpret and work with vehicle electrical schematics to support control designs. Conduct basic tests and simulations to validate control system functionality. Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot and optimize control solutions. What You’ll Bring Basic Qualifications Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field. Familiarity with control systems and MATLAB Simulink (coursework or project experience counts). Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Eagerness to learn and adapt in a dynamic setting. Bonus Qualifications Experience with high-performance electric vehicles, solar cars, Formula SAE, or similar projects. Knowledge of high-voltage systems and HV battery pack design/functionality. Familiarity with CAN communication and advanced control systems. Enthusiasm for boating and clean energy. What we value We value these five things above all else: Ownership over both your work and the company’s success Empathy for colleagues and for customers Humility in problem solving and collaboration Pragmatism for navigating ambiguity quickly and sensibly Inclusion of different backgrounds, opinions, cultures, etc. Given that we work in a sometimes intense or stressful environment, it’s vital that our values align. We’d be happy to elaborate on any or all of these during the interview process. What you’ll get Talented teammates that challenge you to be better Access and often input to a wide range of business activities An hourly wage of $39.00/hr An opportunity to have an outsized impact on industry-defining vehicles The ability to drive positive environmental change through your work Daily lunches, plenty of snacks, lots of swag, and more Boat rides! Hope to hear from you soon! The crew at Arc

$105,000 - $126,000 / year

About Atomic Semi Atomic Semi is building a small, fast semiconductor fab. It’s already possible to build this with today’s technology and a few simplifications. We’ll build the tools ourselves so we can quickly iterate and improve. We’re building a small team of exceptional, hands-on engineers to make this happen. Mechanical, electrical, hardware, computer, and process. We’ll own the stack from atoms to architecture. Our team is optimistic about the future and we want to continue pushing the limits of technology. Smaller is better. Faster is better. Building it ourselves is better. We believe our team and lab can build anything. We’ve set up 3D printers, a wide array of microscopes, e-beam writers, general fabrication equipment - and whatever is missing, we’ll just invent along the way. Atomic was founded by Sam Zeloof and Jim Keller . Sam is best known for making chips in his garage, and Jim has been a leader in the semiconductor industry for the past 40 years. About the role We’re hiring full stack hardware engineering interns. The internship begins in May or June, with the option for preferably a 4 to 8-month commitment. We’re rebuilding the chip fabrication process from the ground up, so you’ll be exposed to some really interesting and impactful work. Our engineering projects are highly interdisciplinary and span domains such as structures, optics, robotics, heat transfer, physics, and chemistry. As a startup, we offer interns a ton of ownership and mission-critical work. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience working in at least one of these areas and broad exposure across other domains. Our philosophy is to get things built and tested in days or weeks, not months. Because of this, a portfolio is required to apply: show us the things you’ve actually built! If you’ve shipped a medium-to-high complexity system through a personal project or previous internship, you’d be a good fit here. Responsibilities Designing, prototyping, and building semiconductor fabrication equipment Writing mechanical drawings and documentation Circuit design and electrical engineering Performing detailed analysis and simulations to evaluate electromechanical designs Working with vendors to source components and materials Required Experience Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree or higher in engineering Ability to learn quickly and troubleshoot technical problems Hands-on prototyping experience and the ability to move through design cycles quickly Hands-on experience with electromechanical assembly design and analysis from coursework, internships, or personal projects Strong foundation in electrical engineering (KiCad/Altium, microcontrollers, embedded systems, digital circuits, etc.) Nice-to-have Familiarity with semiconductor processing— ALD, CVD, PVD, photolithography, etc. Strong foundation in mechanical engineering (Solidworks/Onshape, simulation, materials selection, etc.) Working at Atomic Semi We’re an early-stage hardware startup with solid funding, world-class advisors, and a lab/office in San Francisco, CA. This range assumes a 40-hour workweek and includes up to 10 hours of pre-approved weekly overtime, paid at 1.5x the base hourly rate. Conduct technical analyses for both airborne and ground-based UAS systems , including propagation modeling, link analyses, terrain impacts, signal power, and interference potential. Evaluate scenarios involving BVLOS operations, networked vs non-networked UAS systems, Airbourne transmitter impacts on aviation systems; and UAS terminals transmitting in shared or congested federal bands. Validate all technical data (location, equipment, parameters, emission designator, power, bandwidth, and antenna characteristics) for completeness and accuracy. Evaluate UAS operations in federal and non-federal bands following FAA, RTCA, ITU, and ICAO guidance. Assist in preparing technical input for domestic spectrum certification processes and international coordination activities. Support technical studies and spectrum planning efforts related to expanding UAS operations in national and international airspace. Support the FAA’s role in global harmonization efforts for UAS communications and non-payload spectrum use.
