This is a highly impactful role that directly contributes to the quality and longevity of WHOOP's products in the hands of our members. RESPONSIBILITIES: Implement design changes to improve product reliability, reduce costs, and enhance performance, while ensuring compliance with regulatory and safety standards Potential for management of 1-3 engineers with varied experience levels, managing their tasks, providing mentorship, and offering career development guidance Prototyping, debugging, and analysis using standard lab equipment and techniques Schematic capture and PCB layout of electrical circuits for mass production using CAD and simulation tools such as Altium and SPICE Maintain thorough documentation of design changes, test results, and validation processes. Support of manufacturing and supply chain, including developing partnerships with part manufacturers and CM's, selecting and managing external contractors, selecting and qualifying suppliers, developing functional tests, and guiding the design of automated electrical test platforms Development, maintenance, and execution of development processes, and verification & validation plans. All with the support of internal, external, and cross-functional development teams including Hardware, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Legal Up to 15% travel domestically and internationally to partners, suppliers, and contract manufacturers QUALIFICATIONS: BS or greater in Electrical Engineering or related field 7+ years experience in relevant fields Substantial electrical engineering fundamentals including circuit design, component fundamentals, power supply design, digital communication protocols, manufacturing processes, and debug of sophisticated systems Experience in schematic capture, layout design and review Familiarity with ECAD tools such as Altium and PLM tools like Arena Lab experience including soldering and the use of multimeters, oscilloscopes, SMUs, VNA's, impedance analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and similar equipment Strong problem solving and analytical skills Strong mentor capabilities and experience Desired but not required: Experience in developing high reliability battery-powered consumer electronics at scale preferably with integrated biomedical sensor technologies such as ECG, PPG, SpO₂, GSR, BIA, or similar This role is based in the WHOOP office located in Boston, MA. What you will do: Wire, troubleshoot, and perform phase rotation verification for single- and three-phase electric motors (≤10HP). Install (in-kind), troubleshoot, and maintain industrial and motor control hardware, including sensors, operators, indicators, electro-mechanical relays, etc. Troubleshoot and replace sacrificial parts (fuses, overloads, etc.) on both energized (≤120VAC and ≤24VDC) and de-energized (>120VAC and >24VDC) circuits. Install, troubleshoot, and maintain application-specific controllers (smart relays, smart timers, process meters, scale controllers, CEMs, etc.). Verify and troubleshoot discrete and analog signals at all points, including and between the control system interface and the field device (valves, instrumentation, etc.). Perform adjustments (span, trim, etc.) and setpoint changes on field devices that do not require the use of a field communicator or other specialty interface. Role Summary The Estimating Manager 2 will review and execute bids on multiple and/or more complex projects with specific focus on Electrical scopes. This position will be responsible for all aspects of the estimating and bid process, from review of plans and specifications, to soliciting and negotiating prices from contractors and suppliers. Career Path: Senior Precon and Estimating Manager Key Role Responsibilities- Core ESTIMATING FAMILY- CORE Performs quantity survey of Mechanical/Electrical materials shown on project plans. Reads and outlines project specifications. Maintains an audit trail of the quantity survey from estimate to estimate. Supports vendor/subcontractor pricing/bid solicitation and coordination. Supports the distribution of plans and specifications to vendors/subcontractors. Works collaboratively and creates relationships with a variety of stakeholders, such as project team members, subcontractors, vendors and clients. Gains field operational exposure through onsite project support, as opportunities exist. Key Role Responsibilities- Additional Core ESTIMATING MANAGER 2 In addition, this position will be responsible for the following: Prepares complex mechanical/electrical cost estimates for competitive bids and negotiated proposals for multiple projects. Prepares material and other costs summary for quotes from vendors. Completes in the review of mechanical and electrical options as part of the preconstruction process and completes systems analysis for select projects. Develops electrical scopes of work used to coordinate during the bid process. Assists in the completion of bid analysis and provides input during the subcontractor selection process. Develops sequencing requirements of various systems and providing solutions to meet the schedule requirements. Tracks value creation items from development through inclusion and documents in project documentation. Develops and manages scopes of work for electrical and mechanical trades, including responsibility matrix, distribution of plans and specifications, and pricing, bid solicitation and coordination for vendors and subcontractors. Utilizes knowledge of the project schedule and logistics in project estimates. Collaborates with operations to provide constructability and coordination reviews of project documents. Provides professional and comprehensive deliverables at the completion of each major estimate. Leads the mechanical/electrical coordination process during the bidding and solicitation process. Creates constructability reviews and submits report to the project team. May participate in job pursuit presentations representing mechanical/electrical expertise. Applies knowledge of project schedule to preconstruction efforts. Applies knowledge of subcontractor market and how to prequalify subcontractors. Develop electrical and mechanical bidder lists specific to project requirements. Provides system analysis of building components and MEP systems and assists operations staff on project logistics, staging, phasing plans and coordination. Develops and maintains client and subcontractor relationships. Presents and sells estimates and proposals and participates in project procurement presentations. Coordinates feasibility studies on life-cycle costs of building systems. Leads efforts to assemble, analyze and store electrical cost history. Provides training and mentorship to others. About the Role As an Electrical Reliability Engineer at Zipline, you'll bring your passion and expertise in electrical engineering to ensure our airborne systems perform safely and reliably in extreme operating environments. As a Staff Electrical Engineer in the WHOOP Hardware team, you will work with teams that are committed to delivering an extraordinary product experience to our members, comprised of Electrical, Mechanical, Firmware, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Software teams. You will own design changes to improve reliability, enhance performance, and drive cost reductions for our existing products. You will be responsible for identifying, analyzing, and implementing electrical design modifications to address field failures and improve manufacturability. You will interface with internal stakeholders as well as directly with suppliers and contract manufacturers (CMs), evaluate engineering requirements, design robust electrical hardware, and support the production. You are deeply familiar with electrical concepts and best practices and have the communication skills required to work with technical and non-technical cross-functional disciplines. This is a highly impactful role that directly contributes to the quality and longevity of WHOOP's products in the hands of our members.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Implement design changes to improve product reliability, reduce costs, and enhance performance, while ensuring compliance with regulatory and safety standards
  • Potential for management of 1-3 engineers with varied experience levels, managing their tasks, providing mentorship, and offering career development guidance
  • Prototyping, debugging, and analysis using standard lab equipment and techniques
  • Schematic capture and PCB layout of electrical circuits for mass production using CAD and simulation tools such as Altium and SPICE
  • Maintain thorough documentation of design changes, test results, and validation processes.
  • Support of manufacturing and supply chain, including developing partnerships with part manufacturers and CM's, selecting and managing external contractors, selecting and qualifying suppliers, developing functional tests, and guiding the design of automated electrical test platforms
  • Development, maintenance, and execution of development processes, and verification & validation plans. All with the support of internal, external, and cross-functional development teams including Hardware, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Legal
  • Up to 15% travel domestically and internationally to partners, suppliers, and contract manufacturers

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BS or greater in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 7+ years experience in relevant fields
  • Substantial electrical engineering fundamentals including circuit design, component fundamentals, power supply design, digital communication protocols, manufacturing processes, and debug of sophisticated systems
  • Experience in schematic capture, layout design and review
  • Familiarity with ECAD tools such as Altium and PLM tools like Arena
  • Lab experience including soldering and the use of multimeters, oscilloscopes, SMUs, VNA's, impedance analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and similar equipment
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Strong mentor capabilities and experience
  • Desired but not required: Experience in developing high reliability battery-powered consumer electronics at scale preferably with integrated biomedical sensor technologies such as ECG, PPG, SpO₂, GSR, BIA, or similar

This role is based in the WHOOP office located in Boston, MA. The successful candidate must be prepared to relocate if necessary to work out of the Boston, MA office.
