Opportunity Summary The Instrumentation, Controls and Electrical (IC&E) Technician is responsible for monitoring the status of all plant systems on a continuous basis. The IC&E Technician ensures that the plant meets its generating requirements while operating in a safe and efficient manner. Responsible for the safe and efficient operation, testing, inspection, and maintenance of all equipment related to an electrical generation plant. Performs work of high skill in the inspection, repair, testing, adjustment, installation and removal of all electronic and electrical power plant equipment and systems. Your scope of responsibility as Instrumentation, Controls and Electrical (IC&E) Technician includes the following primary functions: Performs instrumentation and electrical preventive maintenance, including calibration, testing, installation, troubleshooting, and repairs on equipment such as process control systems, motors, generators, batteries, transformers, valves, circuit breakers, disconnect switches, analog/digital instrumentation, control relays, communication devices, electrical systems up to 4,160 volts, lighting, and Balance of Plant (BOP) equipment. Conducts controls and IT preventive maintenance on plant hardware and software, including turbine control (Ovation), BOP control (Mark VIe), DCS (Cimplicity), servers, networking, software updates, and cybersecurity. Reads and interprets blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics; performs switching and tagging for mechanical and electrical systems; develops troubleshooting plans, procedures, and job safety/hazard analyses (JSAs/JHAs). Participates in preventive, scheduled, routine, and corrective maintenance activities in a safe, effective, and timely manner. Operates and maintains plant equipment, including simple and combined-cycle combustion turbine generators and auxiliary equipment, to ensure maximum efficiency under general supervision or direction. Safely operates station vehicles and equipment such as forklifts, trucks, overhead cranes, and mobile cranes. Performs emergency operations as needed to maintain electrical service and protect station equipment. Creates Work Requests for maintenance issues identified during field inspections. Adheres to all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout protocols and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and operates equipment in a manner that minimizes risk to personnel and plant assets. Reports abnormal conditions or anomalies to Station Management and/or the Control Room Operator. Maintains accurate readings, records, equipment logs, operational logs, and other required reports in a clear and professional manner. Establishes and maintains good working relationships with teammates, team leaders, plant technical experts, and engineers. Contributes to plant profitability by reducing material waste and maintaining high productivity. Assists with general plant cleanup and housekeeping as required. Once qualified, fills in for Outside Operators as needed. Must obtain Outside Operator certification within a reasonable timeframe after employment. Performs other reasonable duties and projects as assigned. Work may include high heat near equipment and varying outdoor weather conditions. Some duties may require the use of protective equipment, which can include hard hats, safety glasses, and eye protection, air masks/respirators, ear protection, chemical suits, flame-resistant clothing (FRC), hot gloves, high-voltage protective gear, and fall protection. Fit testing for respirators may be required. Strict smoking restrictions apply in and around the facility. Fitness for Duty All personnel will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program, which includes a post-offer physical examination, drug screening, and post-employment random drug screening. Work Schedule Regular scheduled workweek is based on a 12-hour rotating shift. This position will also occasionally necessitate extended working hours and flexible shifts as needed, including weekends and holidays, in response to schedules, workload demands, and plant conditions. Periodic callouts or “On call” status may also be required. Compensation Starting wage is $46.13 per hour, increasing to $51.25 per hour after six months of employment, and includes eligibility for an annual performance bonus. Job Qualifications We are seeking a qualified Instrumentation, Controls, and Electrical (IC&E) Technician with hands-on experience in power generation operations and maintenance. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong technical aptitude, a commitment to safety, and a track record of contributing effectively within a team environment to support reliable plant performance. Ability to understand procedures and instructions related to the assigned area, typically gained through successful completion of high school or equivalent education. Associate degree in instrumentation, electrical technology, power plant technology, or a related technical field is preferred. Four years of equivalent industry or military experience may be considered in lieu of formal education on a year-for-year basis. Experience working in an operating or power generation plant, particularly in instrumentation, controls, and electrical (IC&E) systems, is highly desired. Experience with electrical systems up to 4,160 volts, including troubleshooting and maintaining switchgear, is highly desired. Qualified as an electrical worker with a strong background in troubleshooting and calibrating PLCs, DCSs, relays, and other IC&E components. Skilled in non-routine repair and calibration of transmitters, transducers, valve actuators, and torque limiters. Proficient in applying innovative solutions to complex instrumentation, controls, and electrical (IC&E) challenges. Able to read and interpret technical documentation such as blueprints, P&IDs, and manuals, and follow written instructions and logbook entries. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Communicate the necessary job status data to the Crew Lead to assure the successful completion of solar arrays/systems installations Following all safe working practices for the Freedom Forever installation team Responsible for safe and correct installation of PV systems and electrical work Assemble all components of a residential solar system Ensure that the work is performed in a neat and workmanlike manner and compliant with all State and local codes and standards Diagnose and troubleshoot system components to resolve electrical issues Follow OSHA, NEC, AHJ and Utility requirements Work with crew and complete all portions of Photovoltaic systems installs (PV) including passing panels, conduit pipe, attic conduit runs, passing PV panels to the roof and roof pipe when required Provide top-notch customer service throughout the installation Upload photos and update job status in the Company database when work is complete Strong knowledge and experience of conduit bending (EMT) ability to produce quality day after day Document work by taking pictures and completing work orders Perform other duties as assigned QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Education & Certifications: High School Graduate or GED Electrician license required Experience: Minimum 3 years of electrical installation and repair experience Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Ability to drive a vehicle during the normal course of business.   • Computer Proficiency using MS Windows and Industrial Software

  • High Level of Initiative and broad business perspective

  • High ownership in all areas

  • Ability to provide innovative contributions in a Team environment

Starting Hourly Wage: $38.08 USD
