Position Summary: Conair, a leading manufacturer of high-end commercial and small kitchen appliances globally, has an opportunity for an Electronics Engineer. This position will be based in Stamford, CT but will travel to our Torrington office as well. In this position you will facilitate the PCB design from schematics & BOMs, prototype and testing of new product design concepts, analyze PCB circuits, and work with Sr. Engineers on improvements as they become evident. Aid with part selection and building BOMs for these new designs. Generate costing of materials for manufacturing based on parts cost and MOQ. Provide engineering support for all phases of the production process including Operations, Manufacturing, Quality Control, and Customer Service. Support is to include, but not limited to, the participation in Engineering/Operations meetings, the creation, implementation and release of Engineering Change Orders. Design and implement test procedures to ensure that products meet quality and performance standards. These standards are company specific and are contingent on the acceptable results of test data of previously performed and completed test requests. Key Responsibilities: Design Printed Circuit Boards: Create detailed PCB layouts from schematic diagrams, ensuring proper component placement, routing, and layer management for optimal performance. Documentation and Manufacturing Files: Generate comprehensive manufacturing documentation, including Gerber files, drill files, Bill of Materials (BOM), and assembly drawings, to facilitate fabrication and assembly. Design Rule Compliance: Conduct design rule checks (DRC) to ensure the design adheres to internal company standards, manufacturer-specific guidelines (Design for Manufacturing, Assembly, and Test - DFM/DFA/DFT), and industry specifications Collaboration: Work closely with electrical, mechanical, and manufacturing engineers to define design requirements, ensure mechanical fit, and address design challenges. Library Management: Create and maintain an accurate library of schematic symbols and PCB footprints. Prototyping Support: Support the prototype build and testing phases, troubleshooting issues, and implementing necessary design adjustments. Order Blank Boards and Parts: Order sample prototype PCBs for engineering prototype builds Assemble Boards, Program and Test: This includes hand soldering of both SMT and through hole parts Create Bills of Materials Using Excel: BOMs will be used to order parts for prototype builds and costing for production Maintain PCB Software (Dip Trace) and Libraries: Make sure user library is updated on a weekly basis Maintain a clean, organized lab and equipment Assemble units to go to TUV and UL for testing Troubleshooting: Help engineers with electrical issues and customer service with customer support Conduct Root Cause Analysis in support of field failures and returns. Work with our manufacturers to make sure they are building our products to the latest revisions Update BOMs, schematics, and PCB artwork with changes Qualifications/Skills: AS or BS in Electrical Engineering and 1-2 years of relevant experience Experience with the design, testing, and troubleshooting of electromechanical products is a plus Strong working knowledge of Electronics Lab test equipment including but not limited to DVM, Oscilloscope, Signal generator, Digital programmable power supply, IR speed tachometer, and LCR meter Ability to test, evaluate and debug prototypes and generate testing reports Hands-on experience with test procedures and documentation. Working knowledge of Electrical/Electronic CAD software (Dip Trace preferred) and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.) Experience with approval agencies and test methodology related to PCBA design Strong mechanical aptitude, with ability to design and build unique test fixtures is a plus Ability to manage multiple assignments Environmental Factors: Working conditions are normal for an office environment. Must be able to sit for extended periods of time. Must be able to use a computer keyboard and view a monitor for extended periods of time. Position Summary:
Conair, a leading manufacturer of high-end commercial and small kitchen appliances globally, has an opportunity for an Electronics Engineer. This position will be based in Stamford, CT but will travel to our Torrington office as well. 
In this position you will facilitate the PCB design from schematics & BOMs, prototype and testing of new product design concepts, analyze PCB circuits, and work with Sr. Engineers on improvements as they become evident. 
Aid with part selection and building BOMs for these new designs. Generate costing of materials for manufacturing based on parts cost and MOQ.
Provide engineering support for all phases of the production process including Operations, Manufacturing, Quality Control, and Customer Service. Support is to include, but not limited to, the participation in Engineering/Operations meetings, the creation, implementation and release of Engineering Change Orders. 
Design and implement test procedures to ensure that products meet quality and performance standards. These standards are company specific and are contingent on the acceptable results of test data of previously performed and completed test requests. 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Design Printed Circuit Boards: Create detailed PCB layouts from schematic diagrams, ensuring proper component placement, routing, and layer management for optimal performance.
  • Documentation and Manufacturing Files: Generate comprehensive manufacturing documentation, including Gerber files, drill files, Bill of Materials (BOM), and assembly drawings, to facilitate fabrication and assembly.
  • Design Rule Compliance: Conduct design rule checks (DRC) to ensure the design adheres to internal company standards, manufacturer-specific guidelines (Design for Manufacturing, Assembly, and Test - DFM/DFA/DFT), and industry specifications
  • Collaboration: Work closely with electrical, mechanical, and manufacturing engineers to define design requirements, ensure mechanical fit, and address design challenges.
  • Library Management: Create and maintain an accurate library of schematic symbols and PCB footprints.
  • Prototyping Support: Support the prototype build and testing phases, troubleshooting issues, and implementing necessary design adjustments.
  • Order Blank Boards and Parts: Order sample prototype PCBs for engineering prototype builds
  • Assemble Boards, Program and Test: This includes hand soldering of both SMT and through hole parts
  • Create Bills of Materials Using Excel: BOMs will be used to order parts for prototype builds and costing for production
  • Maintain PCB Software (Dip Trace) and Libraries: Make sure user library is updated on a weekly basis
  • Maintain a clean, organized lab and equipment 
  • Assemble units to go to TUV and UL for testing
  • Troubleshooting: Help engineers with electrical issues and customer service with customer support
  • Conduct Root Cause Analysis in support of field failures and returns. 
  • Work with our manufacturers to make sure they are building our products to the latest revisions
  • Update BOMs, schematics, and PCB artwork with changes
Qualifications/Skills:
  • AS or BS in Electrical Engineering and 1-2 years of relevant experience
  • Experience with the design, testing, and troubleshooting of electromechanical products is a plus
  • Strong working knowledge of Electronics Lab test equipment including but not limited to DVM, Oscilloscope, Signal generator, Digital programmable power supply, IR speed tachometer, and LCR meter
  • Ability to test, evaluate and debug prototypes and generate testing reports
  • Hands-on experience with test procedures and documentation.
  • Working knowledge of Electrical/Electronic CAD software (Dip Trace preferred) and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.)
  • Experience with approval agencies and test methodology related to PCBA design
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, with ability to design and build unique test fixtures is a plus
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments
Environmental Factors:
  • Working conditions are normal for an office environment.
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to use a computer keyboard and view a monitor for extended periods of time.
  • This role requires an on-site presence Monday through Friday. The person in this role will be resident in Stamford with the ability to go to Torrington 1-2x/week.
