About The Team The dynamic and diverse Electrical Engineering team at Serve Robotics ensures product safety and effectiveness. Key to driving company success, they collaborate, innovate, and create efficient solutions for high-performance robotic applications. What you'll be doing As a Senior Electrical Engineer, this individual will be responsible for designing complex printed circuit boards (PCBs) and proposing the overall electrical architecture. They will select key electrical components to ensure optimal system performance and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including mechanical, software, and systems engineers, to ensure seamless integration of electrical components. Additionally, they will prioritize electrical safety and electromagnetic compatibility requirements. The individual will lead on design requirements, specifications, design risk assessment, test methods, verification testing, and more. How a day look for our Sr Electrical Engineer Design the electrical architecture for the next-gen delivery robot, supporting multiple market applications. Prioritize high-speed analog and digital design, high-speed data cabling, high voltage power, embedded systems, and motor controllers. Own the complete lifecycle of PCBA development, including specification, architecture, design, simulation, schematics, layout, prototype validation, and manufacturing. Define and maintain comprehensive documentation outlining system design specifications, power consumption estimates, and validation strategies to ensure product performance and reliability. Develop hardware with a focus on Design for manufacturing, ensuring efficient production processes, Design for test, and compliance with electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and electromagnetic interference (EMI) standards. Work closely with embedded software engineers to enable seamless hardware-firmware integration, ensuring proper functionality, debugging, and optimization during early prototype development. Investigate hardware failures, system-level issues, and performance deviations using analytical techniques and debugging tools to identify root causes and implement corrective actions. Qualifications BS in Electrical Engineering; MS/PhD preferred. 10+ years of experience in designing and testing electrical systems in robotics, consumer electronics, or related fields. Expertise in high-speed analog and digital design, embedded systems, power electronics, and motor controllers. Broad technical skills, capable of contributing to various aspects of robotic system design. Proficient in electrical CAD tools and PCBA design workflows; Altium experience preferred. Working knowledge of Linux command line for scripting, text editing, and system operations. Extensive hands-on experience with oscilloscopes, DMMs, spectrum analyzers, LCR/network analyzers, and soldering equipment. Familiarity with communication protocols including CAN, RS-485, UART, SPI, I2C, and Ethernet. Experience in power electronics, including DC-DC converters and battery management systems. Assist project manager in efforts to ensure projects are completed satisfactorily, on time, and within budget. Coordinate systems design activities to ensure installation and operations will comply with specifications, codes, and client requirements. Prepare and review functional design drawings including single line, relay and metering, cable block, and schematic diagrams. Prepare documentation for design input for other drawing production and 3-D modeling. Prepare and review detailed calculations, including auxiliary power system studies, voltage drop, protective relay settings, and arc flash calculations. Interface with vendors to prepare bills of material and equipment purchase specifications and provide recommendations to the client. Prepare reports and studies that present technical information in a clear and concise manner and meet client requirements and S&L formats. Provide leadership and assign electrical design job functions to designated engineers and designers and supervise their efforts in completing the project on time and within budget. Collaborate in solving a variety of complex engineering problems (e.g., conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, difficult coordination requirements). Design electrical components and systems for industrial facilities. Research codes and apply knowledge of code requirements and standards to designs. Determine, analyze and interpret clients' needs and requirements. Identify all project inputs needed to proceed efficiently on assigned tasks. Produce contract documents including drawings and specifications, review designs, proposals, shop drawings and contractor comments for sound electrical engineering practice and conformance with established safety and design criteria. Perform calculations and complete layouts and arrangements. Prepare project cost and schedule estimates. Visit construction sites to observe existing conditions to obtain design information and identify solutions to problems that may arise during construction. Conduct inspections for quality control and assurance programs and report findings and recommendations. Provide technical assistance when problems are encountered before, during, and after construction. Collaborate with others to identify, define, and solve design issues. Review preliminary and final electrical design with other disciplines for function, clearances, coordination and final design selection. Reviews design deliverables for constructability. Checks shop drawings for compliance with design documents, and coordinates with other disciplines. Answers RFIs from contractors during construction. Performs construction inspections and develops final punch list. Write commissioning procedures. Assist in starting up and commissioning of communication, security, instrumentation and controls projects Minimum Qualifications: B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering Minimum of 10 years' of electrical design experience serving manufacturing and industrial clients P.E. license with education experience necessary to obtain licensure in other states by reciprocity Knowledge of large power transformers, power generation, transmission, operation and maintenance of power system distribution systems (110vac to 138kvac), harmonic analysis, cable and buss capacity analysis, and load flow analysis is required. Experience in electrical design for facility and infrastructure projects. Experience shall include design of power, lighting, grounding and lightning protection, alarm systems, control systems for building equipment, communications, access controls and security systems. Strong working knowledge of national safety electrical codes and standards Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects simultaneously Strong team player that effectively coordinates with other team members throughout design. Communicates effectively. Skilled in both verbal and written communication. Position will have direct client contact. Previous design and detailing experience using REVIT, and AutoCAD is preferred Experience with lighting calculation software such as AGI-32, ElumTools and/or Visual. Experience with power system analysis software such as SKM Powertools, or ETAP is preferred. LEED accreditation is preferred. Valid Driver License is required to travel to job sites. What you'll be doing

As a Senior Electrical Engineer, this individual will be responsible for designing complex printed circuit boards (PCBs) and proposing the overall electrical architecture. They will select key electrical components to ensure optimal system performance and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including mechanical, software, and systems engineers, to ensure seamless integration of electrical components. Additionally, they will prioritize electrical safety and electromagnetic compatibility requirements. The individual will lead on design requirements, specifications, design risk assessment, test methods, verification testing, and more.

How a day look for our Sr Electrical Engineer

  • Design the electrical architecture for the next-gen delivery robot, supporting multiple market applications. Prioritize high-speed analog and digital design, high-speed data cabling, high voltage power, embedded systems, and motor controllers.

  • Own the complete lifecycle of PCBA development, including specification, architecture, design, simulation, schematics, layout, prototype validation, and manufacturing.

  • Define and maintain comprehensive documentation outlining system design specifications, power consumption estimates, and validation strategies to ensure product performance and reliability.

  • Develop hardware with a focus on Design for manufacturing, ensuring efficient production processes, Design for test, and compliance with electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and electromagnetic interference (EMI) standards.

  • Work closely with embedded software engineers to enable seamless hardware-firmware integration, ensuring proper functionality, debugging, and optimization during early prototype development.

  • Investigate hardware failures, system-level issues, and performance deviations using analytical techniques and debugging tools to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.

Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical Engineering; MS/PhD preferred.

  • 10+ years of experience in designing and testing electrical systems in robotics, consumer electronics, or related fields.

  • Expertise in high-speed analog and digital design, embedded systems, power electronics, and motor controllers.

  • Broad technical skills, capable of contributing to various aspects of robotic system design.

  • Proficient in electrical CAD tools and PCBA design workflows; Altium experience preferred.

  • Working knowledge of Linux command line for scripting, text editing, and system operations.

  • Extensive hands-on experience with oscilloscopes, DMMs, spectrum analyzers, LCR/network analyzers, and soldering equipment.

  • Familiarity with communication protocols including CAN, RS-485, UART, SPI, I2C, and Ethernet.

  • Experience in power electronics, including DC-DC converters and battery management systems.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams and vendors.
