Support special inspections and testing activities, coordinating with engineers, contractors, and third-party agencies as needed. Demonstrate computer proficiency to review and utilize electronic equipment for contract documents efficiently, including change orders, submittals, RFIs, and other inspection documents, with minimal supervision. Position Description SummaryServe as Owner's representative. The Electrical / IT Construction Inspector will support LAWA’s Quality Assurance & Construction Inspection Division across multiple projects within LAWA’s Capital Improvement Program. 
*Candidates must possess a current ICC certification as Commercial Electrical Inspector to apply.
*Successfully hired Candidates must provide Proof of NFPA 70E standards training within the last 3 years and Proof of Cal-OSHA 30 hr. training within the last 4 years, prior to assignment
*Successfully hired candidates must have LAWA SIDA badge prior to official start.
*Must be able to work any assigned shift - day, swing, or night - as required to meet the contractor’s construction schedule. 
* Having an engineering degree is preferred.
Essential Job Duties
The duties for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Conduct comprehensive daily inspections of electrical and IT systems across building and terminal construction projects, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and project specifications; review and interpret construction documents including blueprints and shop drawings, submittals, RFIs, and change orders.
  • Demonstrate strong proficiency in preparing detailed daily inspection reports that clearly document the WHO, WHAT, WHEN, WHERE, and HOW of all observed construction activities, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and accountability in tracking progress and identifying issues, deficiencies, or safety concerns in a timely manner.
  • Verify contractor compliance with local and national electrical codes (e.g., NEC, NFPA 70, 70E, 72) and LAWA-specific standards.
  • Track and document time-and-material work, field changes, and job quantities.
  • Assist in validating contractor progress payment requests based on an approved schedule of values.
  • Support special inspections and testing activities, coordinating with engineers, contractors, and third-party agencies as needed.
  • Demonstrate computer proficiency to review and utilize electronic equipment for contract documents efficiently, including change orders, submittals, RFIs, and other inspection documents, with minimal supervision.
Perform inspections of electrical installations including, but not limited to:
  • Underground utilities and duct banks
  •  High-voltage switchgear and electrical panels
  •  Conduit racks, conductors, and grounding systems
  •  Interior and exterior lighting systems
  • Fire life safety systems including smoke/heat detectors and FM-200 suppression systems
  •  Electrical shutdowns, lockout/tagout procedures, and breaker coordination
Inspect IT infrastructure installations such as:
  • Low-voltage systems (voice/data, security, access control)
  • Door card readers, security cameras, and public address (P.A.) systems
  • Communication cabling and equipment rooms
Professional Experience Level/Minimum Qualifications
  • Electrical/IT inspection staff shall have 3 years or more experience performing electrical/IT inspections for Building Construction.
  • Current ICC Certification as a Commercial Electrical Inspector
  • Proof of NFPA 70E standards training within the last 3 years
  • Proof of Cal-OSHA 30 hr. training within the last 4 years
  • Training & knowledge of NFPA -70, 70E, & 72.
  • Fall protection and harness training.
