Crane Aerospace & Electronics has an exciting opportunity for a EDM Operator- 2nd Shift at our Burbank, CA location. Hours are Monday-Friday 2:30pm- 11:30pm. Job Summary: The EDM Operator will program, set up, and operate Wire Electrical Discharge Machines, inspect parts produced, perform routine machine maintenance. Essential Functions: Based upon oral instructions, operations sheets, drawings, sketches, etc., set up and operate EDM machines- Sinker (Charmilles Form 20 & Eleroda Dis) and/or Wire (Sodick) Enter programs and all necessary parameters into machine control. Perform inspections and measurements of finished parts to determine conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as gauges or micrometers, indicators etc. Read/ Interpret blueprints, understand tolerances, and surface finishes. Able to run .0002 tolerances. Collect SPC data to maintain process control. Inspect or measure finished work pieces. Study blueprints, work orders, or machining instructions to determine product specifications, tool requirements, and operational sequences Mount and position fixtures or vise in machine to best possible condition for wiring work pieces. Activate machine control and offsets to wire parts to finish dimensions according to specifications. Complete the operation within time specs by signing off on the router and forwarding to the next work center. Perform routine machine maintenance. Any other task assigned by supervisor or management. Minimum Qualifications: Experience: 3+ years Electrical Discharge Machine Operator experience. Experience setting up and operating Wire EDM machine (Sodick). Knowledge: Proficient in the use of precision measuring equipment (calipers, etc.) Skills/Abilities: Ability to read and understand blueprints. Able to run multiple machines simultaneously. Ability to read and comprehend moderately complex instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Education/Certification: High School diploma or equivalent, Vocational School Degree or EDM Training Eligibility Requirement: This position may require access to Controlled Data or Information. In the role of Electrical Engineer we'll count on you to:

  • Coordinate work of the electrical design team on large institutional/industrial projects through the schematic design development and contract document phase of a project
  • Establish meetings and participate in reviews with various governing agencies for code compliance
  • Coordinate workload to complete the document on schedule
  • Conduct work sessions at the project site in conjunction with the Project Manager and other disciplines
  • Review electrical documents for areas of conflict with all disciplines
  • Write/edit electrical specifications and select equipment, electrical systems and devices
  • Coordinate with and assist affected disciplines with addenda, RFIs, CPRs and change orders, and take responsibility to incorporate agreed-upon changes into the project documents
  • Provide construction contract administration as needed
  • Conduct QA/QC on the work of other Electrical Engineers, Electrical Coordinators or Technicians
  • Provide mentoring and oversight for less-experienced staff on projects including Federal, Laboratory, Higher Education, and Data Center & Semiconductor.
  • Perform other duties as needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • A minimum of 3 years experience in electrical design of buildings (lighting/power/systems)
  • Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm desired
  • Experience and/or interest in sustainable design/LEED desired but not required
  • Experience with SKM, ETAP, Revit, and BlueBeam are preferred

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis

  • Previous experience in electrical design of buildings (lighting/power/systems)

  • Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example: Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.

  • Strong computer skills using AutoCAD and Microsoft Office, Revit, SKM, AGI and Easy Power
