The Role We are looking for an Electrical Engineer (Sensing Systems) to help design our future generation products. This role will be instrumental in building the next generation of high performance bio-sensing and environmental sensing systems for the Eight Sleep product ecosystem. This role will interact closely with R&D and Hardware engineers, and will see their work productized to directly impact our members and our business. JOB OVERVIEW The purpose of the Electrical Technician is to assist in the installation and repair of electrical systems, apparatus, and electrical and electronic components of industrial textile machinery and equipment. This role also provides maintenance repairs to industrial machinery as needed to keep a continuous manufacturing process supported. Uses man lifts, forklifts, hoists and all electrical testing equipment required. Must work safely following all documented and “common sense” safety policies and procedures . Capability to read Electrical/Electronic schematics and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams. Fusing, thermal overload protection, wire sizing, motor theory, etc. AC, DC and Servo drive system (basics) Be able to safely conduct motor control and power circuit troubleshooting. Understand fuse sizing, take motor amp readings, understand basic DC motor control, etc. Troubleshooting using schematics and laptop various PLC’s logic including digital and analog signals. Ability to fully troubleshoot drives-DC and AC variable frequency, and communicate technically with outside technical support when needed. Ability to fully understand and properly tune the various control loops in the plant. Fully competent in electrical noise avoidance-grounding, shielding, etc. Gas burner system understanding, troubleshooting and properly tuning for boiler and process equipment application Basic troubleshooting skills and installation technics of pneumatics, hydraulics, mechanical gear, link chains, and belts. Install and repair complex industrial equipment. Complies with good housekeeping practices on the job and ensures work areas are clean and picked up after each job completion. Replaces faulty electrical components of machine such as relays, switches, motors, and position sensing devices. Willing to attend annual training for new or improved electrical & PLC systems. Proper use of PPE for all scopes of work. All other duties as assigned or needed. The Role

We are looking for an Electrical Engineer (Sensing Systems) to help design our future generation products. This role will be instrumental in building the next generation of high performance bio-sensing and environmental sensing systems for the Eight Sleep product ecosystem. This role will interact closely with R&D and Hardware engineers, and will see their work productized to directly impact our members and our business.

What You'll Build

  • Design next generation sensor systems

  • Rapidly develop concepts to prototypes, including sensor, electrical, mechanical, and firmware components

  • Perform data analysis, signal processing, and algorithm development to assess feasibility and implement solutions

  • Coordinate with product development and software/firmware teams to incorporate designs into production

What You'll Need to Succeed

  • 4+ years of industry experience with sensing systems, demonstrating a track record of innovation

  • System level mindset, proficiency in EE and ME prototyping (e.g. PCBA, 3D rapid prototyping)

  • Experience with software development for signal processing and prototyping embedded systems

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or equivalent experience

This role is based out of our San Francisco office and will require in-office work due to the nature of hardware prototyping.
