The Work: As a Junior Electrical Engineer , you will serve as an engineering consultant and technical expert on mission-critical infrastructure, systems, and equipment. How You Will Make an Impact: The Electrical-Mechanical Technician is responsible for the assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and development of power systems products. What You’ll Do We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to help lead the design and development of our next generation security systems, which integrate hardware (basestation, cameras, sensors), software, and firmware components. Your expertise will help to inform the system architecture and during development you will be responsible for component selection, schematic capture, layout, and bring-up of both development and final HW. The EE will also help drive future hardware requirements that meet our product vision. This includes consideration for features, SoC capabilities, power envelopes, RF performance, and solution cost. You’ll develop groundbreaking ideas for all parts of our systems, from sensors to comms, ensuring the highest standards of performance, reliability, and manufacturability. The ideal candidate will have a passion for understanding the customer and delivering outstanding user experiences, an expert grasp of electrical engineering, and deep experience working with consumer hardware products. Primary Responsibilities Include: Provide leadership for concept development  and design of electrical systems. Identify and analyze the cross-functional tradeoffs between design alternatives, including impact on performance, schedule, cost, risk, complexity, and scale. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including ME, systems engineering, AI/ML, industrial design, and product management.. Drive the product development process from early-stage concept, through prototyping, testing, and production, to ensure products meet quality, cost, and schedule targets. Oversee prototype development and testing, including designing test strategies to validate product performance and resolve issues. Lead design reviews and work closely with suppliers and global manufacturing partners to optimize the design for mass production. Stay current with emerging technologies, sensors, and manufacturing processes to inform product design and innovation. Influence product roadmaps. Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers, helping them to develop their skills and advance their careers. Drive programs forward with a reasonable sense of urgency.  What You’ll Bring: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. Master’s degree a plus. 5+ years of relevant industry experience, with at least 4 years working on consumer products. Strong schematic capture and PCB layout experience. Experience in embedded systems design including design with UART, SPI, I2C, USB, Ethernet, SDIO, MIPI, etc. Comfort with embedded firmware (C, C++, Rust, etc.) is highly desirable, as is proficiency with python (or other scripting language) and the command line. Experience with RF technologies including Sub-GHz, WiFi and BLE. Knowledge of high-speed rules, PCB stackups up to 8 layers, and layout rules to mitigate EMI and experience with small pitch IC packages (i.e. BGA). Optimizing designs for very low power usage (frequently < 1uA). Proven experience leading the design and development of complex systems from concept to mass production. Experience working together with product management to understand the data-driven “why” and to be the voice of the customer. Experience working with global suppliers and manufacturing partners. Strong communication, EQ, and leadership skills, with the ability to guide and mentor junior engineers. Startup experience along with a scrappy “let’s just build it” philosophy is highly valued. The Electrical Technician assists in the production process, troubleshooting and repair of electrical, controls, and some mechanical aspects of production and facilities equipment on assigned shifts. This position provides technical support, analyzes production data, and improves safety, uptime, quality, energy consumption, tool change cycle times, and other operational metrics. Responsibilities Perform installation, maintenance work, electrical field work, inspections/maintenance of heavy equipment obeying OSHA and Enviva standards for work practices Maintains adherence to workplace and safety practices and principles, and electrical standards in compliance with the relevant Federal, State, and Local Codes. Troubleshoot electrical issues relating to the PLC controlled devices, motor control centers, VFD’s instrumentation (multi-meter, megger, process meter, hart meter, amp meter) and other standard electrical devices using electrical drawings. Wire, Troubleshoot, repair, AC/DC circuits and equipment, replace wiring electrical issues relating to the PLC, motor control centers, 480V and 4160V electrical distribution equipment and all electrical devices, equipment, sensors and fixtures Troubleshoot different communication and IT technologies (D-Net, E-Net, Fiber Optic). Identify corrective action and troubleshooting to improve reliability of equipment. Perform electrical field work including preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance on electrical systems, process control, drives and actuators, instrumentation and telemetry equipment. Ensure equipment is properly maintained and calibrated before use and reports abnormalities Monitor production process operating parameters and makes appropriate adjustments to ensure safe and efficient equipment performance Perform additional duties as assigned and directed. Qualifications At least two (2) years manufacturing experience. Four (4) years of electrical experience. Demonstrated ability in using hand tools and power tools as required for troubleshooting, repairing and/or replacing wiring, equipment, sensors, and fixtures. Must be proficient in basic computer knowledge. Ability to interpret, illustrate, and apply regulation codes and rules. Ability to interpret sketches, blueprints, shop drawings, and work orders Ability to understand and follow written and verbal job descriptions. Excellent communication, critical thinking, analytical, problem solving interpersonal and team skills Willing and able to adhere to safety rules and regulations, including wearing prescribed safety equipment.
