Arc Boat CompanyTorrance, California
What we’re building Every idea starts with a problem. Ours was simple: Boats are special — but they’re loud, pollutant, unreliable, and stuck in the past. Gas-powered boats dominate not because they’re great, but because no better option has existed. Until now. Arc is here to change that. We’re building 100% electric boats from the ground up — quicker, quieter, easier to maintain, and better for the water they ride on. We’re not just swapping gas for batteries. We’re rethinking every detail on the boat — from propulsion and powertrain to software and ownership model — applying first-principles engineering from aerospace and EVs to deliver a better boating experience. Electric boats haven’t taken over yet. The tech hasn’t been ready. The talent hasn’t been focused here. That’s our opportunity — and we’re moving fast. Who we’re looking for We’re looking for someone who’s fired up by our mission and ready to build. You’ll thrive here if you adapt quickly, take ownership, and care about the details. This is a full-time, on-site role at our Los Angeles headquarters. You’ll report to the Director of Hardware Engineering and work closely with a lean, high-trust team where everyone’s work matters. Core responsibilities Leading, mentoring, and growing a high-performing electrical engineering team, providing technical guidance and career development support. Overseeing vehicle-level electrical integrations from prototype through production, ensuring design quality, safety, and reliability. Providing hands-on technical leadership when needed, guiding debugging, validation, and problem-solving across both high- and low-voltage systems. Driving the development and enhancement of electrical test systems and ensure feature parity between bench systems and production environments. Owning and improving the functional specification, review, and validation processes to align with software and controls development. Establishing best practices for harness design, manufacturability, and installation, ensuring scalability for production. Partnering with manufacturing teams in production, resolving electrical build issues and implementing design improvements for quality and ease of assembly. Collaborating with service teams to proactively triage electrical faults, define service actions, and ensure high uptime across the fleet. Providing executive-level updates on team progress, risks, and mitigation strategies. Supporting hardware design and development of automated production testing systems to increase efficiency and reliability at scale. Contributing to roadmap planning for future vehicle programs, identifying technical risks, staffing needs, and opportunities for innovation. Basic qualifications 3+ years of hands-on experience in electrical engineering and production environments with a strong ability to guide and support engineers in troubleshooting and development. 1+ years of proven experience leading and managing electrical engineering teams, including mentorship, performance management, and hiring. Demonstrated history with performing electrical component trades and hardware selection Deep expertise in harness design processes, CAD routing, schematic and formboard creation, and improving manufacturability and install. Strong understanding of automotive communication protocols (CAN, LIN, Ethernet, etc.) and electrical engineering fundamentals. Familiarity with MATLAB/Simulink, oscilloscopes, and other specialized diagnostic tools. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with a proven ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders. Bonus qualifications 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing setting 3+ years of experience managing technical teams Experience working in marine, automotive, aerospace, or other regulated industries; familiarity with ISO or IEC standards Experience with high voltage, electric vehicles and battery pack design Background in PCB design, schematic capture, and layout tools. Understanding of firmware development and integration for electrical systems. Knowledge of Linux and embedded systems for testing and diagnostics. Strong organizational skills with the ability to set technical direction while driving execution at a fast, sustainable pace. Enthusiasm for boating and the water Comfortable pushing a fast but sustainable pace At Arc, we encourage diversity and consider all qualified applicants equally for employment, regardless of background, identity, or status. You’re always welcome to reach out even if you don’t meet many of these qualifications. Passion and aptitude make up for a lot. Our values We move with urgency and build with care. We value these five things above all else: Ownership over both your work and the company’s success Empathy for colleagues and for customers Humility in problem solving and collaboration Pragmatism for navigating ambiguity quickly and sensibly Inclusion of different backgrounds, opinions, cultures, and perspectives. Job Description

What we’re building

Every idea starts with a problem.

Who we’re looking for

We’re looking for someone who’s fired up by our mission and ready to build. You’ll thrive here if you adapt quickly, take ownership, and care about the details.

This is a full-time, on-site role at our Los Angeles headquarters. You’ll report to the Director of Hardware Engineering and work closely with a lean, high-trust team where everyone’s work matters.

Core responsibilities

  • Leading, mentoring, and growing a high-performing electrical engineering team, providing technical guidance and career development support.
  • Overseeing vehicle-level electrical integrations from prototype through production, ensuring design quality, safety, and reliability.
  • Providing hands-on technical leadership when needed, guiding debugging, validation, and problem-solving across both high- and low-voltage systems.
  • Driving the development and enhancement of electrical test systems and ensure feature parity between bench systems and production environments.
  • Owning and improving the functional specification, review, and validation processes to align with software and controls development.
  • Establishing best practices for harness design, manufacturability, and installation, ensuring scalability for production.
  • Partnering  with manufacturing teams in production, resolving electrical build issues and implementing design improvements for quality and ease of assembly.
  • Collaborating with service teams to proactively triage electrical faults, define service actions, and ensure high uptime across the fleet.
  • Providing executive-level updates on team progress, risks, and mitigation strategies.
  • Supporting hardware design and development of automated production testing systems to increase efficiency and reliability at scale.
  • Contributing to roadmap planning for future vehicle programs, identifying technical risks, staffing needs, and opportunities for innovation.

Basic qualifications

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in electrical engineering and production environments with a strong ability to guide and support engineers in troubleshooting and development.
  • 1+ years of proven experience leading and managing electrical engineering teams, including mentorship, performance management, and hiring.
  • Demonstrated history with performing electrical component trades and hardware selection
  • Deep expertise in harness design processes, CAD routing, schematic and formboard creation, and improving manufacturability and install.
  • Strong understanding of automotive communication protocols (CAN, LIN, Ethernet, etc.) and electrical engineering fundamentals.
  • Familiarity with MATLAB/Simulink, oscilloscopes, and other specialized diagnostic tools.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with a proven ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders.

Bonus qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing setting
  • 3+ years of experience managing technical teams
  • Experience working in marine, automotive, aerospace, or other regulated industries; familiarity with ISO or IEC standards
  • Experience with high voltage, electric vehicles and battery pack design
  • Background in PCB design, schematic capture, and layout tools.
  • Understanding of firmware development and integration for electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of Linux and embedded systems for testing and diagnostics.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to set technical direction while driving execution at a fast, sustainable pace.
  • Enthusiasm for boating and the water
  • Comfortable pushing a fast but sustainable pace

At Arc, we encourage diversity and consider all qualified applicants equally for employment, regardless of background, identity, or status. You’re always welcome to reach out even if you don’t meet many of these qualifications. Passion and aptitude make up for a lot.

Our values

We move with urgency and build with care. We value these five things above all else:

  • Ownership over both your work and the company’s success
  • Empathy for colleagues and for customers
  • Humility  in problem solving and collaboration
  • Pragmatism for navigating ambiguity quickly and sensibly
  • Inclusion of different backgrounds, opinions, cultures, and perspectives.
  • We want people who share and embody these values. It is vital that our values align - we’d be happy to elaborate on any or all of these during the interview process.

What we offer

We don’t think great work happens by accident. We invest in the people building Arc — because when you’re supported, you do your best work.

  • Salary:  M3: $200,000 M4: $225,000
  • Ownership – Equity in Arc

  • A chance to define the future of boating
  • The ability to drive positive environmental change through your work

Hope to hear from you soon!
