This role will be embedded in the propulsion team where you will be working with a cross functional team of electrical and mechanical engineers to architect the power system to provide electrical, fluid and mechanical power to critical vehicle components for supersonic and hypersonic aircraft, with the ultimate goal of enabling hypersonic commercial transport. The ideal candidate will be able to act as the bridge between mechanical and electrical disciplines. In this role you will be responsible for the design of flight hardware in addition to all necessary ground and test equipment. In addition to working on custom designs you will also be responsible for working with vendors to identify commercial off the shelf and custom solutions. Finally, you will be hands on hardware and support the build and test of multiple prototype vehicles as we continually push Hermeus’ capabilities forward. We emphasize a fast paced and iterative build and test environment. If you are looking to broaden your experience and get to try out novel solutions to difficult problems this is the job for you. The engineer selected for this position will, among other things: Utilize experience and technical skills to solve complex problems, ensuring compliance with industry and client standards, codes, and regulations. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including architecture, all engineering disciplines, project managers, and contractors. Lead project teams, delivering comprehensive engineering design packages to diverse clients such as federal, state, and local agencies; commercial and industrial entities; and universities. Provide engineering oversight and direction to junior engineers and designers, including leadership and training. Support construction and commissioning activities, ensuring quality and accuracy of work and effectively communicating with project manager, design and construction teams, and clients. Requirements: 6-10 years of experience in Electrical Engineering. Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, architectural/electrical engineering, or electrical engineering technology from an ABET accredited institution. Registered Professional Engineer in Virginia or ability to obtain through reciprocity within three months of start date. Experience in building system design including power distribution, lighting and control systems, grounding and lightning protection, and emergency and uninterruptible power systems. Familiarity with system modeling software (i.e., ETAP, SKM, AGI) and knowledge of sustainable design practices. Eligibility to work in the United States and to obtain a security clearance.
