The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in the design, manufacture, and installation of electrical harnesses for integration into existing aviation platforms. This role is critical to ensuring reliable and efficient retrofitting or upgrading electrical systems in complex mechanical and electromechanical platforms—from contract award through final delivery and closeout. This position is contingent upon contract award. Education and General Experience: Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field is required and at least twelve (12) years of relevant experience associated with electrical harness design and integration into aviation platforms. Proficiency in electrical CAD software and harness design tools. Familiarity with harness manufacturing processes and quality standards. Strong understanding of electrical connectors, wire types, shielding, grounding, and EMI considerations. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings. Experience with retrofitting electrical systems into legacy equipment. Knowledge of PLC, automation, or control systems wiring. Familiarity with AS9100, ISO 9001, or other quality management systems. Hands-on experience with electrical DIT-MCO testing tools Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Effective communication across engineering, manufacturing, and customer-facing teams. Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Job Responsibilities: Interpretation and modernization of legacy electrical harness schematics. Design electrical harnesses and cable assemblies using CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical, or similar). Create detailed wiring diagrams, schematics, harness routing layouts, and bill of materials (BOMs). Work closely with manufacturing partners or internal teams to support harness production. Develop and review work instructions and test procedures for harness fabrication. Conduct or oversee continuity, insulation resistance, and high-voltage testing as applicable. Plan and execute the integration of harnesses into existing equipment—ensuring minimal disruption and full system compatibility. Provide onsite support during installation, including hands-on work, troubleshooting, and post-installation validation. Coordinate with mechanical, systems, and controls engineers to ensure compatibility across disciplines. Communicate with procurement and supply chain teams for component selection and sourcing. Interface with manufacturing personnel and electrical technicians to resolve technical issues during installation. Ensure compliance with internal quality standards and industry regulations. Participate in design reviews, failure analyses, and continuous improvement initiatives. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use tools or controls; normal physical activity (reach with hands and arms; climb stairs); and communicate effectively with all levels of employees and leadership. The employee must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies, up to 25 pounds. Clearance Requirements: The ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance is required. Work Location:            Huntsville, AL

Schedule:                    Full Time; 40 hours per week; 8 hours per day in office (remote work is not authorized)

IronMountain Solutions is seeking an Electrical Engineer supporting an upcoming Long Range Standoff Weapon (LRSO) effort in Huntsville, AL. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in the design, manufacture, and installation of electrical harnesses for integration into existing aviation platforms. This role is critical to ensuring reliable and efficient retrofitting or upgrading electrical systems in complex mechanical and electromechanical platforms—from contract award through final delivery and closeout.

This position is contingent upon contract award.

Education and General Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field is required and at least twelve (12) years of relevant experience associated with electrical harness design and integration into aviation platforms.
  • Proficiency in electrical CAD software and harness design tools.
  • Familiarity with harness manufacturing processes and quality standards.
  • Strong understanding of electrical connectors, wire types, shielding, grounding, and EMI considerations.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
  • Experience with retrofitting electrical systems into legacy equipment.
  • Knowledge of PLC, automation, or control systems wiring.
  • Familiarity with AS9100, ISO 9001, or other quality management systems.
  • Hands-on experience with electrical DIT-MCO testing tools
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication across engineering, manufacturing, and customer-facing teams.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Interpretation and modernization of legacy electrical harness schematics.
  • Design electrical harnesses and cable assemblies using CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical, or similar).
  • Create detailed wiring diagrams, schematics, harness routing layouts, and bill of materials (BOMs).
  • Work closely with manufacturing partners or internal teams to support harness production.
  • Develop and review work instructions and test procedures for harness fabrication.
  • Conduct or oversee continuity, insulation resistance, and high-voltage testing as applicable.
  • Plan and execute the integration of harnesses into existing equipment—ensuring minimal disruption and full system compatibility.
  • Provide onsite support during installation, including hands-on work, troubleshooting, and post-installation validation.
  • Coordinate with mechanical, systems, and controls engineers to ensure compatibility across disciplines.
  • Communicate with procurement and supply chain teams for component selection and sourcing.
  • Interface with manufacturing personnel and electrical technicians to resolve technical issues during installation.
  • Ensure compliance with internal quality standards and industry regulations.
  • Participate in design reviews, failure analyses, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use tools or controls; normal physical activity (reach with hands and arms; climb stairs); and communicate effectively with all levels of employees and leadership. The employee must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies, up to 25 pounds.

Clearance Requirements: The ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance is required. Per federal requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this level of clearance.
