Terran Orbital Corporation is seeking a(n) experienced  Spacecraft Electrical Integration Lead at our Irvine, CA location. As a Spacecraft Electrical Integration Lead, the candidate will provide leadership to the electrical integration team in addition to being a contributor working within a multidisciplinary team to develop innovative spacecraft solutions for internal and external customers. Key Duties and Responsibilities: Lead and mentor a team of electrical integration engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment. Develop and implement processes and tools to support spacecraft electrical integration, ensuring team alignment with project goals. Provide technical guidance and support, monitor progress, and resolve technical and integration issues efficiently. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical, software, and systems engineering, to ensure seamless integration of systems and timely project completion. Partner with the spacecraft design team to develop electrical system requirements, architecture, and subsystem designs, ensuring compliance with technical specifications and safety standards. Design and modify detailed harness schematics, drawings, and data packages for integrating electromechanical components, ensuring accuracy and reliability. Generate and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, reports, and procedures for electrical system integration activities. Ensure adherence to quality assurance processes, industry standards, and engineering best practices, participating in design reviews, audits, and inspections. Evaluate supplier capabilities and participate in technical reviews to facilitate source selection and ensure supplier quality. Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies to continuously improve integration processes. Requirements Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. 8+ years of experience in developing wire interface diagrams, creating detailed wire harness assembly drawings, and building electrical pinout packages. Expertise in system integration test procedure development and execution. Proficiency in spacecraft electrical system architecture definition and design. Hands-on experience with wire harness manufacturing and installation for space applications. Proficiency with CAD software and electrical design tools (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks Electrical, Zuken E3, etc.). Strong project management skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously. Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a team, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. Your responsibilities may include: Electrical Design & Engineering: Develop electrical designs for power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, security systems, and telecommunications. Perform load calculations for generators, transformers, switchgear, panel boards, VFDs, feeders, and branch circuits. Prepare design drawings, technical specifications, and engineering reports. Research and implement industry standards and best practices. Assist with building condition assessments and system evaluations. Collaboration & Project Support : Work closely with mechanical, civil, and structural engineers, as well as architects. Assist senior engineers in multi-discipline project coordination. Communicate with clients, manufacturers, and contractors to address project challenges and develop solutions. Participate in project meetings and contribute technical insights. Technical Growth & Development: Stay current with industry trends, codes, and emerging technologies. Receive mentorship from senior engineers and take on increasing project responsibilities. Support project management efforts and contribute to proposal development as needed. Requirements Bachelor’s or associate’s degree in electrical engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field. EIT certification preferred; working towards or having PE licensure is a plus. Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical engineering within an A/E consulting firm, or closely related industry. Experience with building system design. Healthcare experience is strongly preferred. Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit is required. Familiarity with electrical modeling programs (e.g., AGi32 for lighting, SKM for power analysis) is required. Understanding of national, state, and local electrical codes. Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines. Salary Range: $85,000 - $125,000 per year The specific salary offered may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate's relevant experience, education, and work location. Terran Orbital Corporation is seeking a(n) experienced Spacecraft Electrical Integration Lead at our Irvine, CA location. As a Spacecraft Electrical Integration Lead, the candidate will provide leadership to the electrical integration team in addition to being a contributor working within a multidisciplinary team to develop innovative spacecraft solutions for internal and external customers.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor a team of electrical integration engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
  • Develop and implement processes and tools to support spacecraft electrical integration, ensuring team alignment with project goals.
  • Provide technical guidance and support, monitor progress, and resolve technical and integration issues efficiently.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical, software, and systems engineering, to ensure seamless integration of systems and timely project completion.
  • Partner with the spacecraft design team to develop electrical system requirements, architecture, and subsystem designs, ensuring compliance with technical specifications and safety standards.
  • Design and modify detailed harness schematics, drawings, and data packages for integrating electromechanical components, ensuring accuracy and reliability.
  • Generate and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, reports, and procedures for electrical system integration activities.
  • Ensure adherence to quality assurance processes, industry standards, and engineering best practices, participating in design reviews, audits, and inspections.
  • Evaluate supplier capabilities and participate in technical reviews to facilitate source selection and ensure supplier quality.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies to continuously improve integration processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in developing wire interface diagrams, creating detailed wire harness assembly drawings, and building electrical pinout packages.
  • Expertise in system integration test procedure development and execution.
  • Proficiency in spacecraft electrical system architecture definition and design.
  • Hands-on experience with wire harness manufacturing and installation for space applications.
  • Proficiency with CAD software and electrical design tools (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks Electrical, Zuken E3, etc.).
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a team, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.

Additional Differentiators 

  • Understand vehicle-level systems engineering including communications, functionality trade-offs, grounding, and EMC strategies
  • Familiarity with 3D CAD and PLM software
  • Familiarity with IPC, industry standards requirements and acceptance
  • Understands and deals well with rapid development cycles, ambiguity, and unexpected changes in direction
  • Working knowledge of MS Office

Salary Range $150,000-$180,000

Your actual level and base salary will be determined case-by-case and may vary based on the job-related qualification, knowledge, skills, education, and experience.
