Job Description
The Opportunity:
As an Entry Level Electrical Engineer, you’ll work with a dynamic and growing team of Electrical/Marine/Mechanical/Structural Engineers and Naval Architects in our onsite work location. You’ll provide technical support on various engineering ship design projects both as an individual contributor and as part of an engineering team supporting Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) and Military Sealift Command (MSC). You’ll provide engineering services support that may include electrical design, electrical power load analysis, fault current analyses, short circuit analyses, panel sizing, cable sizing, voltage drop calculations, electrical circuit drawings, work item development, selected record drawing (SRD) updates, cost estimates, ship checks and other technical document preparation in accordance with naval and commercial standards.
Responsibilities:
- Provide onsite engineering support of Military Sealift Command (MSC) on various transportation alteration (Transalt) work and packages.
- Perform engineering site visits at various Navy and Commercial Shipyards to perform As-built Ship Checks of electrical systems
- Perform electrical analyses and calculations for development and implementation of modifications to electrical power systems, electromechanical systems, and control systems which comply with commercial and Naval engineering requirements.
- Develop 2D electrical design drawings and collaborate with other QA/review engineering mid-level, senior, and expert staff and generate final electrical technical products (e.g. contract guidance drawings and reports).
- Perform contractual specification requirements and Review/Research Regulatory Rules and Commercial Regulations
- Interpersonal skills required to work with others and communicate effectively
- Attention to detail
- Self-starter, hard worker, multi-tasking
- Entry level experience using AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and or other similar CAD software
Qualifications:
Required:
- BS Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or Engineering (BSE/BE), BS/AS in Electrical Engineering Technology (EET) or marine engineering; or similar background and/or specialized such as significant US Navy enlisted equivalency training with an associate’s degree will be accepted in lieu of Bachelor’s degree
- US Citizen with the ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with complex technical issues. The ability to create graphical representations and PowerPoints
- Strong analytical skills
- Willingness to travel 10% of the time
- Capable to perform design shipchecks onboard MSC and Navy ships
- Ability to become proficient in designing electrical rip-out and install drawings, including bill of materials creation in AutoCAD software as the COG design engineer
Desired:
- MSC Transalts experience; shipchecks, package development, quality assurance, redlines, etc.
- Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD, NAVISWORKS and SKM Power Tools
- Familiar with Machinery Control Systems and PLC/HMI/Automation/Controls
- Shipboard and/or shipyard experience
- Other Professional Qualifications/Degrees
- Participation in professional organizations (e.g., IEEE, SNAME) by authoring professional papers, holding elected office, or serving on a national or international board.

Pay Range: There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications. The proposed salary range for this position is:
$53,100-$106,300
