As a Data Center Electrical Expert, you will be tasked with supporting commissioning, operations, and evaluating operations of all Electrical related systems at our Critical Facilities. You will also provide recommendations on all design elements for some of the most innovative and energy efficient data centers in the world. This position will support our mission critical and operations teams by being the liaison between design, engineering, construction, and commissioning. The candidate will need to be experienced in Low Voltage & Medium Voltage power distribution, electrical protection & controls systems, UPS and battery systems, electrical testing, applicable electrical codes and standards, and have a basic understanding of mechanical systems. Electrical Subject Matter Expert Responsibilities: Serve as an onsite technical resource of electrical infrastructure systems and equipment, with an emphasis on practical field operation. Ensure appropriate cross-functional collaboration between local electrical team and applicable local and global teams. Contribute to electrical safety program for site. Plan resource, author or approve work procedures to cover electrical troubleshooting, repair, retrofit, and maintenance activities, with an emphasis on assessing & mitigating personnel and critical systems and operational risk. Conduct or oversee hands-on troubleshooting, repair, retrofit, and maintenance of electrical equipment. Oversee electrical system configurations and component upgrades to ensure system integrity is maintained and that all modifications to existing systems are following best practices, including change control processes. Provide Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QAQC) oversight of construction projects & maintenance activity. Lead and/or participate in root-cause analysis activities in area of expertise. Provide training to Critical Facility Engineers and other cross functional teams on electrical equipment, systems, procedures, and changes. Manage vendor relationships for electrical maintenance and retrofit work. Provide feedback on global electrical maintenance strategies and global electrical system design improvements. Travel expectations can be significant during the first 1-3 months for initial training and onboarding. After initial onboarding, travel expectations are 10-15%. and then ongoing occasional travel for factory witness tests, collaboration, training, etc. Minimum Qualifications: 7+ years relevant electrical industry experience or electrical trade level experience Bachelor's degree or trade certification in related field plus 3+ years relevant electrical industry experience will be considered in lieu of 7+ years relevant electrical industry experience. Working knowledge of critical facility operations with experience or understanding of procedure-based work Experience in critical environments Experience in comprehending electrical plans, specifications, and equipment shop drawings. Theoretical and practical understanding of power equipment & systems, with expertise in electrical equipment design, maintenance, troubleshooting, testing, and/or construction Experience working in a highly collaborative, cross-functional environment. Experience interpreting blueprints/CAD drawings Working knowledge of mechanical, controls, and fire and life safety systems Ability to understand complex technical operations environments, communicate issues and provide solutions to all levels of the organization. Ability to prioritize multiple assignments of opposing priorities and work them through to an effective resolution. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in a data center industry NETA or NICET electrical testing experience/certifications Instrumentation & control, power system protection, power automation, etc. experience Experience in high voltage (up to 345kV) equipment construction, operation, and maintenance Trade Certification or state license as an electrician Equipment field service engineering or representative experience

Job Description

As a Data Center Electrical Expert, you will be tasked with supporting commissioning, operations, and evaluating operations of all Electrical related systems at our Critical Facilities. You will also provide recommendations on all design elements for some of the most innovative and energy efficient data centers in the world. This position will support our mission critical and operations teams by being the liaison between design, engineering, construction, and commissioning. The candidate will need to be experienced in Low Voltage & Medium Voltage power distribution, electrical protection & controls systems, UPS and battery systems, electrical testing, applicable electrical codes and standards, and have a basic understanding of mechanical systems.

Electrical Subject Matter Expert Responsibilities:

  • Serve as an onsite technical resource of electrical infrastructure systems and equipment, with an emphasis on practical field operation.
  • Ensure appropriate cross-functional collaboration between local electrical team and applicable local and global teams.
  • Contribute to electrical safety program for site.
  • Plan resource, author or approve work procedures to cover electrical troubleshooting, repair, retrofit, and maintenance activities, with an emphasis on assessing & mitigating personnel and critical systems and operational risk.
  • Conduct or oversee hands-on troubleshooting, repair, retrofit, and maintenance of electrical equipment.
  • Oversee electrical system configurations and component upgrades to ensure system integrity is maintained and that all modifications to existing systems are following best practices, including change control processes.
  • Provide Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QAQC) oversight of construction projects & maintenance activity.
  • Lead and/or participate in root-cause analysis activities in area of expertise.
  • Provide training to Critical Facility Engineers and other cross functional teams on electrical equipment, systems, procedures, and changes.
  • Manage vendor relationships for electrical maintenance and retrofit work.
  • Provide feedback on global electrical maintenance strategies and global electrical system design improvements.
  • Travel expectations can be significant during the first 1-3 months for initial training and onboarding. After initial onboarding, travel expectations are 10-15%. and then ongoing occasional travel for factory witness tests, collaboration, training, etc.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 7+ years relevant electrical industry experience or electrical trade level experience
  • Bachelor's degree or trade certification in related field plus 3+ years relevant electrical industry experience will be considered in lieu of 7+ years relevant electrical industry experience.
  • Working knowledge of critical facility operations with experience or understanding of procedure-based work
  • Experience in critical environments
  • Experience in comprehending electrical plans, specifications, and equipment shop drawings.
  • Theoretical and practical understanding of power equipment & systems, with expertise in electrical equipment design, maintenance, troubleshooting, testing, and/or construction
  • Experience working in a highly collaborative, cross-functional environment.
  • Experience interpreting blueprints/CAD drawings
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, controls, and fire and life safety systems
  • Ability to understand complex technical operations environments, communicate issues and provide solutions to all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple assignments of opposing priorities and work them through to an effective resolution.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a data center industry
  • NETA or NICET electrical testing experience/certifications
  • Instrumentation & control, power system protection, power automation, etc. experience
  • Experience in high voltage (up to 345kV) equipment construction, operation, and maintenance
  • Trade Certification or state license as an electrician
  • Equipment field service engineering or representative experience
