Job Title : Staff Electrical Design Engineer Reporting To: Manager, Electrical Engrg. Moog is hiring an Electrical Staff Design Engineer within the Aircraft Group to lead the development of advanced electrohydraulic, electromechanical, and electropneumatic components and systems that become Moog’s next‑generation products. In this highly technical leadership role, you will apply seasoned engineering judgment to evaluate, adapt, and extend both standard and nonstandard design techniques. You will independently create new approaches to complex challenges, coordinate major engineering efforts, and guide cross‑functional engineering teams. A significant portion of this role includes sustainment engineering for current platforms. As an Electrical Staff Design Engineer , you will: Serve as the electronic box architect for flight control computers and motor‑control electronics used in military aviation applications. Act as the technical integration lead and primary point of contact for customers, programs, and vendors. Act as a subject matter expert across airframes supporting full lifecycle (“cradle‑to‑grave”) activities. Contribute technical concepts and ensure requirement compliance for proposals on new aircraft platforms. Develop and mature system architecture and requirements in collaboration with systems engineering and other disciplines. Create and maintain requirements for flight control electronics assemblies, ensuring designs meet cost, reliability, and schedule targets. Promote and facilitate Model‑Based Design methods, tools, and processes. Perform electrical design analyses, including first‑order hand calculations and dynamic simulations (MATLAB/Simulink, PSpice, etc.). Lead the design of electronics box hardware, firmware, control algorithms, power devices, feedback circuits, high‑power inverters, gate drives, microprocessors, and FPGAs. Ensure designs meet EMI/EMC and all applicable environmental and electromagnetic requirements. Drive Design for Manufacturing (DFM) activities and manufacturing readiness. Lead multi‑discipline engineering teams (mechanical, software, digital, analog, power, etc.) in electronics assembly development. Coordinate major engineering efforts, supporting planning, guidance, and technical execution. Support requirements definition for electronics box test equipment. Oversee Validation & Verification (V&V) testing activities. Support the development of test procedures for development and qualification of flight‑control electronics assemblies. Provide sustainment engineering for current platforms, applying mature engineering judgment to resolve issues and update designs as needed. Mentor and coach engineers within the electronics department to build capability and technical depth. To be considered for this role, here’s what you’ll need : Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (required). Minimum 10 years of relevant industry experience. At least 5 years of development team leadership experience. Proven leadership, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement. Depth of understanding and experience in the design, analysis, and development of aircraft actuation controllers. It’d Be Great If You Also Had : Experience with requirements flow‑down, actuator and sensor interfaces. Familiarity with industry standards such as RTCA/DO‑160, MIL‑STD‑461, MIL‑STD‑704, MIL‑STD‑810, RTCA/DO‑254. Experience with aerospace qualification and certification processes. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance.
