Position Summary Perform task and project level assignments including design/development, analysis, and manufacturing support of power supplies and power conversion equipment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities, including but, are not limited to: ​​​​Produce new electrical designs. Produce original electrical designs for power supplies and power conversion equipment to conform to customer specifications and Rantec standards. Upgrade of existing electrical designs. Provide product improvement through the analysis of existing products and the incorporation of design improvements. Incorporate product changes originating from changes in customer specifications, changes in components or manufacturing requirements, and to address obsolescence issues. Support bid and proposal activities. Test procedure generation. Determine the testing protocol for design and prototype validation as well as final product acceptance testing. Support Manufacturing. Produce designs that conform to IPC standards and Design for Manufacturability guidelines. Review manufacturing issues for input to design changes. Develop product performance and compliance testing. Develop plans and schedules for product design and development programs. Develop and maintain program budgets. Support product realization. Job Description Title: Senior Facilities Electrical Engineer Key Accountabilities: Work with the Sr. Manager for Facilities and Maintenance to deliver the department objectives. Plan, coordinate, deliver and oversee the installation and maintenance of electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, HVAC controls, fire alarm systems, and backup power systems. Plan, coordinate, deliver and oversee planned preventive maintenance (PPM), Fixed Electrical Testing (FET), Infrared Testing (IR) and reactive maintenance on HV and LV electrical systems. Manage capital projects related to facility electrical upgrades, expansions, and energy efficiency initiatives. Troubleshoot and resolve complex electrical issues to minimize downtime and ensure plant reliability. Perform load calculations, short-circuit analysis, arc flash assessments, and system capacity planning. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal electrical codes and standards (e.g., NEC, NFPA, OSHA). Develop and maintain preventive maintenance plans for electrical systems and equipment. Lead and support energy management and sustainability programs. Coordinate with external vendors, contractors, and utility companies as needed. Develop framework contracts and Service Level Agreements for external Service Providers. Oversee and assess work performance of external service providers. Maintain accurate documentation of electrical systems and facility drawings, including one-line diagrams, panel schedules, and maintenance records. Provide technical support to maintenance and operations teams during equipment installation, upgrades, or modifications. Participate in safety programs, risk assessments, and facility audits. Support implementation and delivery of the company Health & Safety Standards which will include taking the role of Responsible Person (RP) or Assistant RP for specified activities. Be the campus Subject matter expert in all electrical topics, manage and sign off electrical training requirements for the maintenance team and ensure policy changed are communicated effectively to relevant employees. Conduct regular site inspections to identify potential hazards and areas for improvement. Provide input into the continuous improvement of maintenance systems and processes. Own and manage the Campus PV systems, EV systems and operate/maintain the onsite Microgrid. Own and assist with reporting activities for both internal and external management and stakeholders. Develop, coordinate, and maintain critical a spares inventory, ensuring relevant spares are available for critical assets. Function as a liaison when collaborating with other professionals including structural engineers, builders, architects, surveyors, and in-house project teams. Attend project group and technical meetings. Assist with ensuring the security of employees, and capital assets, within the organization by providing strategic direction, tactical management, emergency planning, and disaster recovery strategies for electrical systems. Promote a compliance culture in area of responsibility, and live the letter and the spirit of the MTU Integrity Code Perform special projects as required. Basic Requirements: Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, with minimum 3 years of experience in industrial or manufacturing facilities, with a strong focus on electrical systems. Position Summary

Perform task and project level assignments including design/development, analysis, and manufacturing support of power supplies and power conversion equipment.  Essential Duties and Responsibilities, including but, are not limited to:
  • ​​​​Produce new electrical designs.  Produce original electrical designs for power supplies and power conversion equipment to conform to customer specifications and Rantec standards. 
  • Upgrade of existing electrical designs.  Provide product improvement through the analysis of existing products and the incorporation of design improvements.  Incorporate product changes originating from changes in customer specifications, changes in components or manufacturing requirements, and to address obsolescence issues.  
  • Support bid and proposal activities.
  • Test procedure generation.  Determine the testing protocol for design and prototype validation as well as final product acceptance testing.
  • Support Manufacturing.  Produce designs that conform to IPC standards and Design for Manufacturability guidelines.  Review manufacturing issues for input to design changes. 
  • Develop product performance and compliance testing. 
  • Develop plans and schedules for product design and development programs.  Develop and maintain program budgets.
  • Support product realization.  Participate in design reviews, scheduling meetings and other engineering and manufacturing work groups to provide design input as needed.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and/or different shifts, as required.
  • Ability to work in a safe professional manner adhering to all regulatory requirements including OSHA, EPA, State and Federal Regulations.
  • As the Company’s success relies on the productivity of our team and adherence to customer product schedules, an essential function of this position is the ability to arrive to work on-time, and work each day, as scheduled.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • BS in Electrical Engineering.
  • 5 years analog design experience preferred, preferably in switching power supplies
  • Experience using electronic test equipment to troubleshoot and diagnose failed units and components
  • Sound reasoning skills in risk assessment and failure analysis. 
  • Possess strong understanding and working knowledge of root cause analysis techniques and effective corrective action.
  • Electrical and mechanical requirements including MIL-STDs, and industry standards such as J-STD-001 and IPC-A-610
